The purpose of this study was to examination the physical and anthropometric features of the traceurs with the gymnasts university education. The study was carried out with university students, male twelve volunteer participants (traceurs=6, gymnasts=6). The mean age of the traceurs was 18.67±1.03 years, 172.67±3.78 cm, body weight 62.5±8.94 kg and BMI was 20.98±2.97 kg/m2; gymnasts was 19.33±1.21 years, 175.83±6.18 cm, body weight 65.17±8.06 kg and BMI was 21.11±2.67 kg/m2. According to the data obtained from traceurs and gymnasts, the somatotype features of the athletes were endomorph (2.70±0.32), mesomorph (4.09±1.70) and ectomorph (3.39±1.67), and endomorph (2.90±0.48), mesomorph (3.83±1.51) and ectomorph (3.49±1.52), respectively. It can be said that the dominant somatotype structures between the groups and within the groups are mesomorphy and ectomorphy in the traceurs and gymnasts. When somatotype features were compared between groups, no significant difference was observed. It is noteworthy that both branches have similar body structures (mesomorphy and ectomorphy). In conclusion, learning of these body structure features that determine and affect the performance by coaches education of athletes that athletes will show that perform successfully only with appropriate body structures and coaches may enable the preparation of a better training program.

Objective: To investigate the effect of dexamethasone on spermatogonium and sertoli cell of ipsilateral testis in unilateral testicular torsion strain wistar rat. Material & Method: Experimental study with post-test only control group design. The present  study was conducted on 30 Wistar male rats aged 10 – 12 weeks grouped into 5 groups. Group I was the normal/sham operation group (KN), group II was left testicular torsion for 4 hours group and followed  by manual detorsion  (K1), group III was left testicular torsion for 10 hours group and followed  by manual detorsion (K2),  group IV was left testicular torsion for 4 hours group and given dexamethasone 10 mg/kg body weight subcutaneously 30 minutes before manual etorsion (D1), and group V was left testicular torsion for 10 hours group and  given dexamethasone 10 mg/kg body weight subcutaneously 30 minutes before manual detorsion. All rats had left orchidectomy 4 hours after detorsion. The number of spermatogonium and sertoli cells were counted in histological seminiferous tubular testis that have obtained Haematoxylin Eosin staining. Data were analyzed by ANNOVA followed by Post Hoc Tukey for spermatogonium and Kruskal Wallis followed by Mann Whitney test for sertoli cell. Differences were considered significant at p <0.05. Results: There was significant difference in the mean number of spermatogonium between K1 & D1 group. Otherwise, there was no significant difference in the mean number of spermatogonium between K2 & D2. There was significant difference in the mean number of Sertoli cells between K1 & D1 group, likewise that between K2 & D2 group. Conclusion: These results suggest that dexamethasone has protective effect in spermatogonium and sertoli cell in testicular torsion for 4 hours.

The aim of this study is to examine the career stress levels of university students in different faculties according to age, gender, faculty, class and financial status variables. The research was conducted using a quantitative research design. The sample of this study consisted of 1,189 university students from Kastamonu University Education Faculty, School of Physical Education and Sports, Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. Career Stress Scale consisting of 20 items and three sub-dimensions was used. Data were normally distributed and parametric analysis was used. According to the findings of this study, it was determined that the average score of the participants was 2.43 from the total score of the career stress scale. In this context, it was found that the career stress levels of the participants were moderate at the lower limit. According to the average scores of the participants, the lowest subscale was found to be an external conflict with 2.13 average and the highest subscale was found to be job anxiety with an average score of 2.82. A significant difference was found almost between all different groups in different ways (p > 0.05). As a result, it was found that the career stress levels of the university students participating in the research were moderate, as well as differences according to variables such as gender, class, age, faculty and income status. Among these differences, the most striking ones appear to be the variables of age and income. In this context, it was determined that university students who have lower age and lower-income status level have higher career stress level than age and income status variables. Abstract Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has changed our daily life. Owing to the imposed restrictions, many educational facilities have introduced remote teaching. This study aims to understand the impact of remote teaching on Japanese university students' sleeping habits.Methods: The participants were medical university students. We used data from an ongoing longitudinal sleeping habits survey. For 684 participants who enrolled in the university during 2018–2020, multilevel analyses of sleep duration during weekdays and weekends across 3 years were conducted, adjusting for gender, grade, place of stay, sleep problems and lifestyle habits. Results: Among the participants, 356 male (mean ± standard deviation: 22 ± 3, 18–37 years old) and 288 female (22 ± 3, 18–32 years old) students in 2018, 365 male (24 ± 3,18–36 years old) and 284 female (22 ± 2, 18–33 years old) students in 2019, and 226 male (20 ± 3,18-36 years old) and 167 female (21 ± 2, 18–34 years old) students in 2020 answered the questionnaire. The mean sleep duration during weekdays (in minutes) was 407.6 ± 60.3 in 2018, 406.9 ± 63.0 in 2019, and 417.3 ± 80.9 in 2020. The mean sleep duration during weekends (in minutes) was 494.5 ± 82.5 in 2018, 488.3 ± 87.9 in 2019, and 462.3 ± 96.4 in 2020. The analysis showed that sleep duration during weekdays was associated with the place of stay and survey year. Moreover, students reported significantly longer sleep duration during weekdays in 2020 than 2019, but no significant difference in sleep duration between 2018 and 2019. Sleep duration during weekends was found to be associated with the survey year, gender and always doing something before going to bed. Sleep duration during weekends was shorter in 2020 than 2019 and longer in male students and students who always do something before going to bed. Ten students were reported to have a delayed sleep phase in 2020. Conclusions: Students' sleep duration increased during weekdays and decreased during weekends in 2020. This difference could be explained by the COVID-19 pandemic and the introduction of remote teaching.

This study was conducted to examine the effect of participation in physical activity on physical fitness parameters in children aged 5-9 years. A total of 83 children, 44 girls, and 39 boys, studying in a private primary school participated in the study voluntarily. The Eurofit Test Battery was used to evaluate the physical fitness levels of children. Within the scope of the Eurofit test battery; the body weight and height values of the children were measured. In the determination of motoric performances, flamingo balance, disc touch, sit-reach, standing long jump, sit-up, bent-arm hanging, and 5x10 meter sit-up tests were used. A personal information form prepared by the researchers was used to determine demographic characteristics. Whether the data is normally distributed or not was checked with kurtosis and skewness values. In the statistical analysis dimension; descriptive analysis (mean, standard deviation, median, min-max value, ratio, frequency), independent samples t test (Independent Samples t test) were used. In terms of children having an athlete license, a significant difference was found in their height, standing long jump test, sit-up test, bent-arm hanging test, 5x10 meter sit-up run test scores (p>0.05). A significant difference was found in the findings of height, body weight, standing long jump test, sit-up test, bent arm hanging test, 5x10 meter sit-up run test in terms of children's participation in traditional children's games (p>0.05). As a result, it has been determined that children's having an athlete's license increases their height, explosive strength, core strength endurance, upper extremity strength endurance, agility, and again, the students' participation in traditional children's games has positive effect on height, body weight, explosive strength, core strength endurance, upper extremity strength endurance and agility. <p> </p><p><strong> Article visualizations:</strong></p><p><img src="/-counters-/edu_01/0891/a.php" alt="Hit counter" /></p>

ABSTRACTTwenty-six pregnant Holstein-Friesian × zebu heifers, arranged in pairs according to age, body weight, expected calving date and amount of zebu breeding, were allocated at random to two nutritional regimens during the last 12 weeks before calving. If was planned that the animals in treatment A should calve at a pre-calving live weight of 480 kg and those in treatment B should calve at 380 kg. The diet consisted of maize silage or elephant grass silage, soya-bean meal and minerals. During the first 21 days of the post-partum period both groups were given 6 kg concentrate per head daily. After this period, the feeding level was adjusted every 14 days according to the current milk yield. The mean total milk yields were 2132 kg and 1283 kg (P < 0·05) and the lengths of lactation were 239 days and 156 days (P < 0·01) for cows in treatments A and B, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference between treatments in the intervals from calving to first heat or calving to conception.

SUMMARYTwenty-seven British Friesian heifer calves were housed as a group but fed individually barley-lucerne pellets according to a scale related to body weight. At 16 weeks and again at 31 weeks of age nine calves were implanted subcutaneously at the base of the ear with 300 mg trenbolone acetate (group T), nine calves were similarly implanted with 140 mg trenbolone acetate and 20 mg oestradiol-17/? (group TE) and the remaining nine calves were sham implanted (group C).As a result of increased feed conversion ratios, body-weight gains were significantly greater in group T (0–80 kg/day) and group TE (0–87 kg/day) than in group C (0–72 kg/ day) during the 15 weeks following the second implant, but there was no significant difference between groups following the first implant.Following both implants in groups T and TE the mean concentrations of urea and albumin in serum decreased, and that of globulin increased. The mean urea: creatinine ratio in the urine of animals in groups T and TE relative to that in group C also decreased.The heifers were served by an Aberdeen Angus bull at the first and, when they occurred, subsequent oestruses. Following calving the mean milk yields in the first lactation in group T (641 kg in 96 days) and group TE (1993 in 212 days) was considerably lower than in group C (3636 kg in 293 days). The udder size in both groups of animals treated with the anabolic steroids was markedly reduced. It is concluded that despite an improvement in feed conversion ratios and body-weight gains, trenbolone acetate should not be administered to prepuberal heifers which will be retained for breeding and milk production.

Background: Anemia is one of the most prevalent complications in patients with chronic kidney disease, which is believed to be caused by the insufficient synthesis of erythropoietin by the kidney. This phase III study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of CinnaPoietin® (epoetin beta, CinnaGen) with Eprex® (epoetin alfa, Janssen Cilag) in the treatment of anemia in ESRD hemodialysis patients. Methods: In this randomized, active-controlled, double-blind, parallel, and non-inferiority trial, patients were randomized to receive either CinnaPoietin® or Eprex® for a 26-week period. The primary endpoints of this study were to assess the mean hemoglobin (Hb) change during the last 4 weeks of treatment from baseline along with the evaluation of the mean weekly epoetin dosage per kilogram of body weight that was necessary to maintain the Hb level within 10–12 g/dL during the last 4 weeks of treatment. As the secondary objective, safety was assessed along with other efficacy endpoints. Results: A total of 156 patients were included in this clinical trial. There was no statistically significant difference between treatment groups regarding the mean Hb change (p = 0.21). In addition, the mean weekly epoetin dosage per kg of body weight for maintaining the Hb level within 10–12 g/dL showed no statistically significant difference between treatment arms (p = 0.63). Moreover, both products had comparable safety profiles. However, the incidence of Hb levels above 13 g/dL was significantly lower in the CinnaPoietin® group. Conclusion: CinnaPoietin® was proved to be non-inferior to Eprex® in the treatment of anemia in ESRD hemodialysis patients. The trial was registered in Clinicaltrials.gov (NCT03408639).

The effect of different levels of supplemented dietary protein on body weight, certain haematological values and meat yield characteristics in 20 "Shaver Star Bro" broilers was studied during the period from 02 March to 12 April 2002. The broilers were randomly assigned to four equal groups (A to D) each consisting of 5 birds. Group A was considered as control, fed only with commercial ration and other three groups were treated with extra dietary protein supplement @ 5%, 10% and 15% as group B, C and D respectively. Increased body weight was recorded in group B and the body weight decreases as the level of protein increased from 5% to 10% and 15% and the decrease was linear. No differences in haematological values were observed among the groups but the TEC varied significantly (p < 0.05). The mean weight of breast meat, drum stick meat varied significantly (p < 0.01). The shank weight varied significantly (p < 0.05) but there was no significant difference among the mean weight of thigh meat and wing meat corresponding to the different levels of supplemented dietary protein. It can be concluded that 5% supplemented dietary protein with commercial ration gives better result in respect to body weight gain, haematological values and meat yield characteristics.Key words: dietary protein; haematological values; meat yield; broiler birdsdoi: 10.3329/bjvm.v2i2.2543Bangl. Backpack carrying is a considerable daily "occupational" load among schoolchildren. Most of the research on children's backpacks have focused on gait pattern and trunk forward lean; only a few researches have investigated the impact of backpack carrying on children using the measurements of static posture and gait kinetics. This study investigated the changes in ground reaction force (GRF) and trunk inclination among primary students when carrying heavy backpacks. A randomized controlled experimental study was conducted on seven boys aged between 9 and 11 years old with a similar body mass index. Observations were done when the boys were carrying school bags of 0% (as control), 10%, 15%, and 20% of their own body weight while walking normally. Data acquisition was carried out using force platforms and a 3D motion analysis system. A significant difference in GRF at a load of 20% of body weight was found: the vertical GRF increased almost three times when loads increased up to 20% of body weight compared to 10% of body weight. The anterior–posterior GRFs were asymmetrical when loads were increased. When carrying a load of 15% of body weight, all of the seven subjects adopted a compensatory trunk inclination. The emphasis on GRF and trunk inclination suggests that the safest load applied does not exceed 15% of body weight.

AbstractSeveral studies have investigated leptin and neuropeptide Y (NPY) levels in children, but the information for newborns in the literature is limited. The purpose of this study was to determine leptin and NPY levels in 14- to 28-day-old newborns.This prospective study was performed in Atatürk University Medical Faculty Research Hospital Neonatal Clinic, Erzurum, Turkey between July and December, 2014. Sixty-two 14- to 28-day-old neonates, 26 female and 36 male, were included. Age, height, and body weight of the patients were recorded. Feeding status was also recorded. The newborns were divided into two groups – those receiving breastfeeding only and those receiving breastfeeding and formula. Plasma leptin levels were measured using enzyme amplified sensitivity immunoassay (EASIA).The mean leptin level in 14- to 28-day-old female neonates was 4.25±3.08 ng/mL, and the mean NPY level was 24.79±9.87 ng/mL. The mean leptin level in 14- to 28-day male neonates was 3.49±2.52 ng/mL, and the mean NPY level was 25.80±9.58 ng/mL. No significant difference was determined between leptin (p=0.228) or NPY (p=0.144) in terms of feeding status. No significant difference was also observed between the sex in terms of leptin or NPY levels (leptin p=0.775 and NPY p=0.687).There were no differences in terms of feeding status and sex in leptin and NPY levels in the neonatal period.
