This paper aims to analyze the dissemination of content on physical culture by the media and develop ideas about the training of Physical Education teachers. The media, while diffusing institution information, it uses its power to convey symbolic references to bodily beauty models associated with notions of health are not always consistent with the reality of the majority of the population, spreading the elements of physical culture as a major means for this purpose. Being a local school for building/dissemination of knowledge, it is up to their teachers analyze such media messages and work with students in order to question them and relates them to the best reality brought. Thus, training courses for teachers in Physical Education are the gateway to the start of this type of questioning, enabling subjects to access the theoretical elements so that they can reflect on the information and images transmitted by the media, including mainly the spectacle of the sport, this study focus. As above, the foregoing discussion is of fundamental importance for the future teachers have access to knowledge about how the information related to the body and bodily practices are produced and disseminated in society today. Consequently, these individuals may perform a reading quality content circulating in the media through put and may have a different future role in society, against standards of beauty, health and pre-established body.

Summary: The body of evidence suggests that there is a causal association between nonfictional media reporting of suicide (in newspapers, on television, and in books) and actual suicide, and that there may be one between fictional media portrayal (in film and television, in music, and in plays) and actual suicide. This finding has been explained by social learning theory. The majority of studies upon which this finding is based fall into the media “effects tradition,” which has been criticized for its positivist-like approach that fails to take into account of media content or the capacity of audiences to make meaning out of messages. A cultural studies approach that relies on discourse and frame analyses to explore meanings, and that qualitatively examines the multiple meanings that audiences give to media messages, could complement the effects tradition. Together, these approaches have the potential to clarify the notion of what constitutes responsible reporting of suicide, and to broaden the framework for evaluating media performance.

Visual culture affects the way people understand the world and themselves, contributing to the creation of certain roles and stereotypes, some of which are related to body image. This study focused on interrogating future physical education teachers’ beliefs about the body and physical activity to understand the construction of bodily subjectivities and their perceptions of how these are influenced by visual (physical) culture. Data were collected through the use of visual methods consisting of photo-elicitation and individual interviews with 23 students from a Primary Education Degree with a specialization in physical education at a Spanish university. Data were analyzed using thematic content analysis. The results of the study show that these future physical education teachers are aware of both the great influence of gender stereotypes and the values of consumerism in the field of physical activity stemming largely from the media, which inevitably will shape their future professional practice. However, the results also highlight how these future physical education teachers consider and position the subject of physical education as an important space where they could help students problematize and challenge these beliefs. We suggest that a focus on visual (physical) literacy is needed for future physical education teachers (and their students) to understand the world from a socially critical perspective and transform it in the interest of equity and social justice.

Traumatism of schoolchildren in physical education and sports, according to questioned teachers, has assorted reasons. The main ones are: violation of discipline by students, failure to observe safety rules, inept insurance and selfinsurance, unsatisfactory technical condition of sports equipment and places for physical culture and sports. The most traumatic means of physical education teachers consider team sports games (soccer, handball, basketball), during which it is possible to injure hands and feet with hard drops on the ground or collisions with rivals, blowing the ball into the face or body. Long-term pedagogical experience in school and analysis of publications of specialists studying the problems of injuries in children and young people make it possible to assert that in connection with a significant number  of injuries in schools in different countries, it is necessary to improve its prevention and improve the safety of students' life and health in teaching and educational The process, in particular, in physical education classes and sports sections of schools. The aim of this study was to describe the profile of Physical Education (PE) teachers working at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology Sul-rio-grandense, identifying sociodemographic data, qualification process and complementary training. A self-administered questionnaire was done with the subjects, and data from the Transparency Portal and from Lattes Curriculum was used. The data was presented based on the distribution of relative frequencies, absolute, and their respective confidence intervals (95%). The statistical program used was the PSPP. Thirty-five teachers participated in the study, and as a result, we consider the years of performance in the institution, 14 of them were in the first years of service, 15 in the intermediate years and six in the final years. The results showed that teachers in the early and intermediate years of work are more involved in research and extension activities, as well as training courses and scientific events. We conclude that despite the teaching requirement that suggest research and extension activities, the working emphasis falls on the teaching activities. We highlight that although the reduced performance in research and extension activities, it is seen as a qualified teaching group that keeps seeking for professional qualification.
