Abstract Insomnia is a common disorder that affects up to 40% of people age 65 and older. Untreated insomnia can decrease quality of life, increase healthcare use, and exacerbate cognitive problems. Individuals with cognitive impairment experience more sleep disorders than those without cognitive concerns, yet little is known about insomnia and mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Our objective was to examine predictors of insomnia in persons with MCI (PwMCI). Using data from the National Alzheimer’s Coordinating Center Uniform Data Set, a cross-sectional study of older PwMCI was conducted. Independent sample t-tests and contingency tables with chi-square tests of independence were used to examine differences between PwMCI with and without insomnia. Multivariate binary logistic modeling was performed. The total sample (N=1543) was comprised of 234 (15.1%) with clinician-reported insomnia and 1309 (84.9%) without insomnia. PwMCI and insomnia were more likely to be younger, take more medications, and smoke cigarettes (p.05). Three variables significantly predicted insomnia in PwMCI subjects in a multivariate model: active depression (OR 1.66, 95%CI 1.21, 2.27), active anxiety (OR 2.16, 95%CI 1.57, 2.99) and arthritis (OR 1.78, 95%CI 1.33, 2.39). Differences in predictors of insomnia in PwMCI highlight the need for geriatric and mental health specialists to provide specialized care to this population. Future studies should examine conversion of PwMCI with insomnia to dementia and the compounding effects of insomnia on cognition.

Gingivitis is an inflammation of the soft tissues inoral cavity that invade the free gingival. There are two kinds of etiologies that can cause gingivitis, they are plaque and non-plaque. Pregnant women will have some maternal physiological changes during pregnancy, one of them is the increasing of estrogen and progesterone. It will cause the gingival tissue to react to irritant such as plaque excessively. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between gestational age and gingival index in pregnant women. This analytic correlation research used cross sectional approach. The gestational age were observed from Mom’s and Kid’s Health Book. The Gingival Index was observed by using Loe and Silness index to each pregnant woman’s oral cavity. Data was analysed by using Chi –square. The study took place in Andalas Public Health Center, from 16th  February 2-15 until 26th  February 2015. Most of the pregnant women had mild gingivitis, no pregnant women were found with healthy gingiva or severe gingivitis. The result showed that there was no significantly relationship between gestational age and gingival index in pregnant women (p>0,005).

Objectives: This study aims to describe and classify the drugs prescribed for coinfected patients treated at a reference hospital. Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study with analysis of information contained in a database prepared in an earlier study The Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical (ATC) classification system was used to classify the prescribed drugs. Results: Eighty-one coinfected individuals participated in the study, with a mean age of 40 years old and numerous comorbidities. A total of 147 drugs were found and, when the frequency of prescription was evaluated, the most used therapeutic groups were anti-infectious, considering the large number of opportunistic infections (OIs) presented by coinfected patients, followed by feeding tract drugs used to treat adverse drug reactions. We could observe that 73% of the evaluated population had a CD4+ T lymphocyte count <200 cells/mm3 and a high viral load, indicating advanced immunodeficiency. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop strategies aimed at coinfected patients, such as specialized care, early diagnosis and appropriate treatment of coinfection. It is also important to carry out more studies on the use of drugs among coinfected patients to create actions directed to this population that may contribute to the rational use of drugs.

Introduction: With occurrence of COVID-19, many countries have initiated lockdown in an effort to control the pandemic. These measures can only be effective when the people co-operate. The awareness and health-related behavior have a major role in determining society’s response. Meanwhile adolescents are at the risk of deviating from disciplined health-related behaviors due to turbulence arising from their hormones despite of their awareness. This study aims to study COVID-19 awareness and its impact on health-related behavior of adolescents. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional web-based online study of 299 adolescents enrolled in various educational programs, between ages 13 to 19 years was conducted between June 18, 2020 and July 11, 2020 in Nepal. The questionnaire consisted of demographic characteristics, 16 items on knowledge and 40 items on behavior. Descriptive statistics, chi-square tests and binary logistic regression were conducted in Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. Results: A total of 299 adolescents were enrolled in the study. Majority (92.6%) of the adolescents had adequate awareness. Positive health-related behavior was seen in 72% of the adolescents. Spiritual behavior was the most affected in comparison to physical, social and psychological behavior. Adolescents with adequate awareness on COVID-19 were 10.67 times more likely to perform positive health related behavior (P=0.005; 95% CI=2.01-56.47). Conclusion: Majority of the adolescents had adequate awareness. Significant percentage of adolescents had positive health-related behavior. Positive behaviour was not proportionately in level with adequate awareness. Effective health programs and policies are needed to transform adequate awareness into positive health-related behaviour for effective control of disease.
