The study examines the way Islamic religion and culture influence Muslim immigrant women’s participation in English learning programs in Australia. It presents a narrative of three married Iraqi Muslim Immigrant Women’s (IMIW) experiences in both mainstream mix-gender and women-only English classes in Melbourne. Two data collection methods were employed, in-depth interviews and a focus group discussion, to generate data from the participants. The findings show that the participants struggled to cope with mixed-gender classes due to some social, cultural and religious attributes including familiarity with single-gender settings, family commitments and the culture of their community. The paper presents recommendations for the Australian government to pay more attention to women-only classes to stimulate immigrant women to English learning courses.

Crisis, in whatever form it takes, is a challenge for modern business. The challenge lies in the fact that a company is prepared to balance the difficult conditions that are created, while preserving their business interest and efficiency. Thus, companies focus only on their perceived fixed bases, those that are in the internal environment such as the human capital. The need for better human resource management is more urgent than ever, and the burden on the business department is particularly great. The aim of this qualitative research is to highlight the strategies that were developed by agri-food companies in Greece and contribute to the maintenance and motivation of employees in the context of economic crisis. The methodology of this study is based on in depth interviews that were conducted in focus group discussion. Eleven companies from the agri-food sector in the region of Central Greece participated in the research. The executives highlighted three different strategies that were developed by agri-food companies in Greece, which focused on internal mobility, training and appraisal performance. Companies had to face different difficulties to use these strategies, but most of them proved that they can face their weaknesses and apply these strategies in a turbulent period like a financial crisis.

Seahorse (Hippocampus spp.) has a high economic value in Bintan Island that leads to its exploitation by coastal community intensively. This study was to assess local knowledge on seahorse ecology which was captured across shoreline near the coastal communities. The research was conducted in SebongPereh village Bintan Island. The data were collected by conducting depth interviews and focus group discussion on seahorse fishermen which was selected purposively. The results revealed local fishermen have ecological knowledge related to habitat types, behavior, and monthly variation in abundance, size and reproduction pattern. The result also showed that the existence of the seahorse during the catch season moves around, follow the condition of the seaweed and tidal of sea water. This local knowledge was used by fishermen as a strategy in determining the fishing time and catchment area of a seahorse. Through such local wisdom, local fishing communities established a local institution to manage conversation and sustainability use of seahorse in waters of SebongPereh village.


Although women’s participation in the workforce has increased remarkably in recent times but women are still lagging behind because of the traditional thinking and attitudes of their families in the context of Bangladesh. The purpose of the current study was to explore the role of the family in shaping women’s career development. The study was conducted in a qualitative approach and it was exploratory in nature. The study was conducted during November-December, 2019 in Khulna division, Bangladesh. The purposive sampling procedure was used to select the 25 respondents of the study. The respondents constituted of working women from different professions. Primary data was collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews extending from 35 to 45 minutes. The collected data were analyzed using thematic analysis method and nine themes emerged from the transcripts. The emerged themes were acceptance and aspiration from family, spousal support, being a mother, grown-up children as helping hands, family and work balance, family as a social network, family as a barrier, family as a lever, and gender inequality. This research highlighted the fact that women’s career practices and its development depended highly on familial roles. The family possesses the ability to affect women’s career success both positively and negatively. The study revealed that women who received positive support from their families were more motivated and achieved greater success in their professional life. Family can serve both as a lever as well as a barrier in shaping a woman’s career.

Under the ministerial regulation no 21/2016 the payment of JKN service to the FKTP used capitation payment system. The payment given to the primary care is in the form of health service payment (minimum 60%). The allocation is based on types of workforce (profession, administrative tasks, person in charge of programs, and years of service) and attendance. This study investigates the possibility of adding employee performance as a variable in giving health service point for employees at FKTP Puskesmas. This study is a qualitative study in nature using case study design. The data were collected through in-depth interviews, focus group discussion, and triangulation. Incentive payment increases the employee performance at work. The amount of incentives should line up with the employees performances. Incentives will not be effective if they are fixed and do not count the employees performances. In the ministerial regulation no 21/2016, healthcare service is not included as a variable in employee performance evaluation. The head of FKTP Puskesmas can use the results of employee performance evaluation to determine the amount of incentives received. One of the ways to improve employee performance is through reward and punishment system. Employee performance in Puskesmas can be increased by adding work performance evaluation as a variable capitation payment of BPJS Kesehatan to Puskesmas based on ministerial regulation (Permenkes) no 21/ 2016.

This study aims to determine the Strategy of Guiding Troubled in Islamic Religious Guidance for Teenagers in North Padang Mantinggi Village, Rao District, Pasaman Regency. This research is a type of field research using qualitative methods. Sources of data were taken from three informants consisting of coaches of trouble, five parents of teenagers, and fifteen members of teenagers using purposive sampling technique. Research data were taken through in-depth interviews with all informants. The results showed that the Guidance Strategy for Guidance in Islamic religious development for adolescents in Padang Mantinggi Utara Village, Rao District, Pasaman Regency, was by carrying out positive activities favored by teenagers, such as soccer and pencak silat training for teenage boys, marawis training. or tambourine and rhythm training for teenage girls. So that with positive activities it will be easier to direct teenagers to explore religious issues by participating in regular recitations in the hope that teenagers can have better knowledge of the Islamic religion

The shift in consumer behaviour and food fulfilment by people who initially shopped for fresh good food ingredients during the pandemic is predicted to require fast food with long durability, so this can be an opportunity for developing the food business in the future, especially in the development of the frozen food business. The purpose of this study is to explore the interests and consumption trends of the people of Bangkalan Regency towards frozen food and describe how frozen food business analysis can be developed by MSMEs and home-based culinary business actors during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research methodology used is qualitative, with a phenomenological paradigm approach. Data were collected using questionnaires, group discussion forums (FGD), and in-depth interviews, where all the information was selected by purposive sampling. The results showed an increase in frozen food consumption during the pandemic, extensive business opportunities opened up in the frozen food sector, and frozen food could be an alternative to fulfil food needs during the pandemic. Introduction: Children with intellectual disability have the same sexual needs as the average children. Parents are their children’s primary sex educators, but many parents are afraid of talking to their children about sex. The purpose of this study to explore the perception of parents in providing sex education to children with intellectual disability. Methods: A qualitative study using phenomenological approach. Focus group discussion (FGD) and in-depth interviews (face-to-face) with ten parents having children with mild or moderate intellectual disability, aged nine-eighteen years registered at SLB Negeri 1 Yogyakarta. Colaizzi method was used to identify core themes and patterns. Results: Four themes were found: the importance of sex education for children with intellectual disability, the mother has the most important role in providing sex education, the distinction of sex education for children with intellectual disability, religion is important in sex education. Conclusions: Perception of parents in providing sex education to children with intellectual disability is different from parents with normal children. Parents should be earlier deliver sex education to protect them from sex abuse and the method of giving sex education with practice. The role of parents, especially mother is very important to provide sex education than father.

Abstrak Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui model prototipe optimalisasi dana amal yang tepat dalam pemberdayaan masyarakat  miskin perkotaan berdasarkan kearifan lokal di Lampung. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei dengan data yang berasal dari hasil Diskusi Kelompok yang terfokus  dan wawancara mendalam dengan pembicara adalah tahap identifikasi model. Kemudian model rekonstruksi menggunakan analisis komparatif. Pengembangan Berbasis Masyarakat ini menggunakan metode yang melibatkan masyarakat dalam pembangunan. Di mana konstruksi dimulai pada tahap ide, perencanaan, kegiatan pengembangan program, penganggaran, pengadaan sumber daya hingga implementasi yang lebih menekankan pada keinginan nyata atau kebutuhan nyata  masyarakat dalam sekelompok orang.  Melalui Relasi Mustahiq yang sangat membantu sebagai sumber daya manusia, Dengan harapan Pengembangan Masyarakat Terpadu diharaplan  menjadi pusat penyaluran program tersebut sehingga programnya lebih terukur, dan terkendali.     Kata kunci: Dana Zakat, Pemberdayaan, Miskin Perkotaan, dan Pengembangan Berbasis Masyarakat   Abstract The aim of this study is to find a prototype model of the proper optimization of charity funds in the empowerment of the poor town based on local wisdom in Lampung. This study used a survey method with the data derived from the results of the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and in-depth interviews with the speakers is the model identification stage. Then, reconstruction model using comparative analysis. Community Based Development (CBD) is a method  that involves communities in development. Where constructions began on the stage of ideas, planning, program development activities, budgeting, procurement of resources to the implementation of a more emphasis on real desire or the real needs of the community in a group of people. Through Mustahiq Relation Officer (MRO) ashuman resources assistant, Integrated Community Development (ICD) became the center ofthe distribution of the program so that the program is more scalable, and controlled.   Keywords: Zakah Fund, Empowerment, Poor Urban, and Community Based Development (CBD).

Using data collected from in-depth interviews with 13 Somali women, this chapter re-examines the dominant assumptions about women and peace-building. It explores how women's participation in peace-building manifests itself in Somali politics; identifies distinctive gender dimensions of peace-building; and explores the particular ways women negotiate and influence peace. It makes the case for a new recognition of women's roles in peace-building and argues that Somali women are already employing successful strategies to negotiate space within the political domain and build peace within their families and communities. As such, the chapter goes beyond the false dichotomy of formal/informal peace-building activities, and contends that the current narrative, which is based on simplistic explanations of women and politics, fails to take into account the historical context of women's agency and the vastly changing political and community dynamics that impact how women participate in peace-building.

Kudus is an area rich in historical and cultural sites related to the spread of Islam. In several tombs of religious leaders in Kudus, there are still traditional ceremonies which are always complemented by various culinary traditions. What are the symbolic and philosophical meanings of each of the traditional culinary traditions in some ways related to the five prominent figures of Islam in Kudus? In writing this article the research begins with collecting data which includes the collection of primary and secondary sources such as literature, observation, participatory, in-depth interviews, and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with informants from various elements. All data that has been collected through the various approaches above will then be classified, connected or accumulated between data from one another, linked between primary sources and library sources or secondary sources, as a form of interpretation and synthesized in order to obtain research results . The results of the study show that the symbolic and philosophical meanings of each culinary tradition in some traditional ceremonies relating to the characterization of Islamization in Kudus are closely related to the greatness of the figure itself. Based on the culinary tradition, it can be seen that the beliefs of the Kudus community still have a relationship with previous beliefs (pre-Islam).
