Introduction: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has necessitated closure of physical classroom for maintaining social distancing norms, prompting learning environment to shift from offline to online. Medical education has also undergone similar changes, and online education and assessment methods had to be implemented. Student’s perception regarding the same was assessed through this study. Aim: To assess the perception of first year MBBS students about the online education and assessment during the lockdown period of two months. Materials and Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out on the first year MBBS students of North Bengal Medical College (NBMCH) during the COVID-19 Lockdown period. All first year MBBS students of NBMCH were added in WhatsApp groups created for academic purposes by Department of Anatomy, NBMCH during the lockdown period. Respective teachers in the academic groups carried out sharing of Digital Education Material (DEM), holding Online Interaction (OI) and correspondence with students, and taking Online Assessments (OA) through sharing questions framed in Google Forms. After two months, the perception of the students was assessed through a voluntary participation based online survey designed in google forms, the results of which were tabulated later and analysed. Results: A total 95 students (54 Male, 41 Female) out of 200 had participated in the survey. Most students were reliant on smartphones (n=90, 94.7%) and mobile internet (n=78, 82%). Most agreed on DEM being relevant (83.2%) and informative (80.7%) but showed diverging opinion on ease of understanding, revision and overall fulfillment of learning objective. On OI majority students responded positively on promptness, relevancy, informative and helpfulness but only46.8% considered DEM and OI fulfilled the overall learning objective. Regarding OA students had an overall positive opinion. Comparing the online mode with offline, students mostly preferred the latter, though agreeing that online method of education was effective and it was easier to score in OAs. Conclusion: While most students accepted online education, interaction and assessment positively, at the end most of them still preferred offline mode of education and assessment. This could reflect lack of student-student interaction and indicated need of further studies to explore the matter, to help us approach online education better.

Introduction: The coronavirus pandemic has involved nearly all the countries of the world. The lockdowns and closure of educational institutes to reduce the risk of disease transmission has brought a change in the medium of teaching as most educational institutes have moved to the online mode. There is a widespread increase in stress as the number of cases and mortality associated with Coronavirus 2019 disease (COVID-19) continue each day. Aim: To assess the stress status of first year undergraduate medical students in reference to the coronavirus pandemic and the perception of first year undergraduate medical students in reference to the E-learning being carried out during the coronavirus pandemic. Materials and Methods: This was a cross-sectional web-based online survey that was conducted using a questionnaire in August 2020 at Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, New Delhi, India. The questionnaire was prepared and reviewed by the involved faculty members of the project and it was approved by a faculty from Department of Psychiatry. Reliability of questionnaire was measured using Cronbach’s alpha (0.89). A questionnaire with 20 questions was administered via Google forms to all 100 students of first year MBBS course. Some of the questions in the questionnaire were framed to assess the stress status of the students; some were designed to study students’ perception of E-learning. Data was represented as the percentage distribution of response for each question. Results: Ninety five responses were received, after accounting for exclusion factors; data was compiled for 91 respondents. Out of the 91 participants in the study, 48.4% were males (n=44) and 51.6% were females (n=47). Most of the students in this study (84.6%) felt that online teaching had helped in learning Physiology theory; around 43% students found online practical teaching useful. Around 39% students have reported internet connectivity issues all the time while 59% faced problem sometimes. Total 51.6% of students had difficulty in accessibility to devices. Due to coronavirus pandemic, 37.4% of students have reported to be under stress. Around 33% reported feeling unsafe all the time while 39.5% felt unsafe some of the times. Conclusion: Students found online teaching more helpful in learning Physiology theory than practical. Majority of class reported internet connectivity issues. All the responders agreed that this pandemic affected their regular life. Most of the students felt that online classes have helped them to remain positive and motivated towards study.

OBJECTIVESTo collect information about the Perceptions of dental students regarding Formative and Summative Assessment in Sardar Begum Dental College.METHODS This cross sectional study was conducted at Sardar Begum Dental College, Peshawar. Pre validated Assessment Experience Questionnaire was used to collect information. All the students of 2nd, 3rd, 4th year BDS and House officers who have joined and continued their bachelors education at Sardar Begum Dental College and Hospital from the first year were invited to participate in this study through Convenience sampling technique after taking verbal and written consent.RESULTSOverall response rate was 29.3% in 2nd Year, 35.1% in 3rd year, 75.7% in 4th Year and 92.7% among house officers.60-70% students opined that formative assessment experiences stimulated deep learning and were useful in the preparation for summative assessment. Majority of the students were satisfied with the atmosphere, structure and conduct of summative assessment. More than 70% admitted that they learn more when preparing for summative assessment near the examination. Almost 60% prefer to have more number of SEQs by claiming that these let them apply deep learning. Despite of accepting the contents of OSCE/OSPE as of good quality, majority students from all the professional years were dissatisfied from the time allocation as well as slides and images placed in each stationCONCLUSIONStudents like formative assessment mainly because of feedback as it helps them in learning as well as preparing for summative assessment. All parts of summative assessment were more satisfactory for the students.

Objectives: To evaluate the prevalence and awareness of caffeine consumption among medical students. Study Design: Descriptive Cross-sectional study. Setting: Rawal Institute of Health Sciences Islamabad. Period: April 2018- October 2018. Material & Methods: Study carried out on 220 medical students both male and female of first year to final year class of Rawal Institute of Health Sciences Islamabad, using the non-probability convenience sampling method. The interview method was used by filling the structured close ended questionnaire by the researcher (myself). The questions asked were about different parameters related to Prevalence of caffeine consumption among students like; gender distribution, preferred choice of caffeine and caffeine awareness among medical students. The responses were noted and the frequencies calculated in percentages. Results: Out of 220 respondents, majority students were females 128 (58.2%), maximum from third year class 78 (35.5%). Response to different questions was as follows; Preferred choice of caffeine was tea 92 (42.8%). Daily intake of caffeine was less than 5 cups 128 (58.2%), Season of increased consumption was summers 109 (49.6%), total years of caffeine consumption was 11-16 years 182 (82.7%), feel energetic with caffeine 142 (64.5%), feel agitated without caffeine 105 (47.7%), developed habit from family 122 (55.5%). Can survive without caffeine 132 (60%), caffeine damages the body 136 (61.8%), caffeine benefits the body 122 (55.5%), willing to quit caffeine 154 (70%). Conclusion: The results showed that majority of students were using caffeine without sufficient awareness of its adverse effects, withdrawal symptoms and benefits.

Background: Virtual learning platforms gained unprecedented prominence after the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak. Assuring the quality of education and student satisfaction are critical, especially in developing countries often plagued with infrastructural limitations, including information technology. Objectives: This study was conducted to assess the perceptions of students at a Kenyan Pharmacy School of online learning with regards to affordability and overall effectiveness. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted using an online survey containing pre-determined questions aligned to achieve the research objectives. Results: Students in senior classes (Fifth year) viewed online learning more favourably and had fewer challenges with accessibility than students in the lower classes (First year to third year). Conclusion: The study identified areas of strength, such as convenience, time-efficiency, and self-initiative, as well as weaknesses, including inequitable access, internet connectivity challenges, and unsatisfactory lecturer digital competency, with relation to online learning.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the world into a health and economic crisis. Different countries have established different forms of quarantine, interrupting numerous ordinary routines and affecting work, free movement, trade, and, in particular, education. The inability of the examiner to travel during lockdown/ post lockdown discouragement of travel as per advisory, rules out the possibility of the traditional method of the in-person presence of external examiner for evaluation, while a completely new method of only online mode of practical examination may not be advisable or fair as per assessment principles. Objective: The main objective of the study was to assess the challenges faced by final year medical postgraduate students during Pandemic COVID 19. Methods and Materials: A Cross-Sectional study conducted among final year medical post-graduate students. An online survey was conducted from April 1st 2021 to April 30th  2021 to collect the information. A structural questionnaire link using ‘Google form’ was sent to students’ through WhatsApp and E-mail. A non-probability technique known as consecutive sampling was used to select the respondents. Results: During the study period, 55 medical postgraduate students have included study, 30 students were male and 25 were men, Most of the student from the anesthesia department 14 (28%) and  Community Medicine 12 (24%). 39 (70.9%) strongly agreed for their academic activity disturbed due to the COVID pandemic. Among students, 32 (58.2%) percentage students finished their thesis. 39 (70.9%) students strongly disagree for to postpone the final exam. Conclusion: Students to do their academic activity by side by side during covid duty also and do their research project in the COVID patients. This is COVID pandemic every one suffered in the world, so to understand to cross this period, this is not for single person problem, so medical students to understand to do the duty very well and service to this nation with their safety measure take care their health including mental health.

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic halted educational institutions all over the world which forced a shift to online classes, a new experience for Bangladeshi students which increased their screen time. Objective: This study aimed at discerning the physiological challenges accompanied by the online education system and the compatibility of Bangladeshi students considering health and socio-demographic factors. Methods: A cross-sectional pilot study was performed based upon an online survey on students (n = 590) during September 1st to 14th of 2020. Results: Interestingly, an inevitable consequence of online education was several physiological problems. It was found that 93.9% of the participants faced some kind of physiological challenges, e.g., headaches, fatigue, eye and ear problems, from online classes. The majority of the participants (57.5%) could not concentrate for one hour or more in online classes. Conclusion: Along with transitioning towards online education, innovative teaching methods would be helpful for the students to adapt to the ‘new normal’.

Abstract Background Pediatric Rheumatology (PR) is a young specialty that has not yet gained momentum in Algeria. The aim of this study is the assessment of the perception of PR by pediatric residents in Algeria and the current practice of this young sub-specialty in our country. Methods Descriptive cross-sectional study evaluating the perception of PR by pediatric residents was created on Google forms and distributed via email and Facebook to be taken as a self-administered online survey. The survey is composed of three parts: socio-demographic characteristics of the participant, current practice of PR and perspectives of PR training. Results Seventy-seven residents responded to the online questionnaire, with an average age of 30.40 ± 3.13 years and 65% of participants being female. Participation included different regions of Algeria (Batna, Annaba, Setif, Constantine, Algiers and Oran) and different levels of training (from the first year to the fifth year of residency) Ninety-two percent (92%) of participants had managed PR consultations, with a frequency of once a week in 75.3% of cases and twice a week in 15.6% of cases. In 81% of cases, it was not the initial presentation. The patients were mainly referred by a general practitioner or a general pediatrician. The Management of these patients was provided by a general pediatrician in 69.4% of cases and only in 37.7% by a specialized pediatrician. In 71.4% of cases, there was no pediatric rheumatologist in the establishment where the resident was being trained. The level of knowledge in PR was admitted to be poor by 59.7% of the respondents. Seventy-five percent of the residents wanted to have rotations dedicated to this sub-specialty during their training. Seventy percent thought that PR is equally as important to know as the other subspecialties in pediatrics (pediatric endocrinology, pediatric pneumology ...). Interest in further PR training was expressed by 80.5% of participants, given the chance. Conclusion This survey reinforces the perception that PR training needs to be improved in Algeria, especially as the number of PR consultations is on the rise. The creation of specialized training in PR is becoming a necessity.

Objective: This cross-sectional study aimed to determine the rates of depression, anxiety, and stress among first-year university students in Saudi Arabia. Method: We distributed an online survey through to 861 first-year students, aged 17-25, at King Abdulaziz University. The survey used a validated Arabic short version of the Depression Anxiety and Stress Scales, and sociodemographic factors. Results: The prevalence of depression, anxiety, and stress was 80.4%, 71.8%, and 69.3%, respectively. A plurality showed extremely severe depression and anxiety, and severe stress symptoms. The frequency of exercise was inversely related to depression, anxiety, and stress. A total of 8.2% of students had visited a psychiatrist at some point in their lives, and 40.5% of students had suicidal thoughts. Conclusion: Programs to identify students suffering from mental illness and offer adequate care and support are essential.

BACKGROUND The COVID-19 epidemic has had a major impact on mental health in the general population. As a result, during a pandemic, monitoring and oversight of the population's mental health is a top responsibility. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study is to examines the anxiety level of the people during initial period of COVID-19. METHODS The cross sectional online survey was done using the zung self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and zung self-rating depression scale. Out of 250 responders, 19.2%, 6.4%, and 0.8% experienced mild, moderate, marked to severe levels of anxiety RESULTS According to analysis, female (OR=1.3,95% CI=0.55 – 3.3,P=0.524), above the age of 59 years(OR=1.6,CI=(0.33 – 7.72),P=0.555), were experiencing moderate level of anxiety when compared with others. Related to depression, 36.4%,16.4% and 5.2% experienced mild, moderate ,marked to severe levels of depression. The findings show that female (OR=0.79,95%,CI=0.36–1.7,P=0.of0.845),above the age of 59 years(OR=4.4,CI=0.75 – 25.8,P=0.101)were experiencing marked level of depression than others. CONCLUSIONS The main causes for anxiety and depression among the people is due to financial constraints, dual role of women, work from home, fear of infection, unemployment and online education.

Abstract. Grit, that is, perseverance and passion for long-term goals, is a novel construct that has gained attention in recent years ( Duckworth, Peterson, Matthews, & Kelly, 2007 ). To date, little research has been performed with the goal of identifying the antecedents of grit. Thus, in order to fill this gap in the literature, self-report data were collected to examine whether mindfulness, a mindset of being-in-the-present in a nonjudgmental way, plays a role in fostering grittiness. Three hundred and forty-three undergraduate students completed an online survey once in a cross-sectional study, and of these, 74 students completed the survey again 4.5 months later. Although the cross-sectional analyses identified a number of positive associations between mindfulness and grit, the longitudinal analysis revealed that the mindfulness facets of acting with awareness and non-judging were the most important positive predictors of grit 4.5 months later. This set of findings offers implications for future grit interventions.
