Abstract The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic adversely impacted the mental health of older adults. This study aims to explore the associations between protective/risk factors of depression during the pandemic and to examine the differences in these associations by marital status. Data from the Health and Retirement Study 2020 COVID-19 module, released in February, 2021, were used. The level of resilience during the pandemic was selected as a protective factor. The level of COVID-19 pandemic concern was selected as a risk factor. Among older adults aged 51 years and older, the weighted regression model found that higher levels of COVID-19 concern were associated with higher levels of depressive symptoms (p<0.05), whereas higher levels of resilience were associated with lower levels of depressive symptoms (p<0.05). Marital status moderated the association between COVID-19 concern and depressive symptoms. Never-married people were at higher risk of depressive symptoms than married people when COVID-19 concerns increased. It is important to enhance support for never-married people during the pandemic to protect their psychological well-being.

Finally, the data were analyzed using SPSS V.22 software and statistical tests. Values greater than 0.05 were also considered significant. Results: In this study, 29.2% were male and 68.8% were female, and corona-related anxiety was more common in women and married people. As they got older, they tended to respond to higher options like most of the time or always. The higher the level of education, the less noticeable the unnecessary visits to the dental clinic. Conclusion: People were more worried about transmitting the disease to those around them and this anxiety was more in women than men. Married people were also more anxious than single people. Anxiety was significantly higher in the unemployed than in the employed. The damaging consequences of solitary confinement in prison indicate the importance of relationships for human flourishing. Loneliness affects a high proportion of people, especially as they get older. The health consequences of loneliness can be severe. Our early relationships within our family and with others are crucial for our well-being. There are many species where the parents effectively abandon their offspring early in life but humans don’t normally do that. As a species we produce few offspring and parents can invest in them heavily. We are a social species. At the same time, the more people we know, the more difficult it becomes to maintain social relationships with them. Married people are generally happier than unmarried people. Helping is at the heart of most positive relationships. Human relationships need not be restricted to other humans.

COVID-19 pandemic has impacted people around the globe. Countries, including Indonesia, implemented large-scale social restrictions. Since marriage is found to be beneficial to people’s quality of life (QoL), the study aimed to examine the QoL of married people in Indonesia during a large-scale social restriction of the COVID-19 pandemic. An online cross-sectional survey using Qualtrics was conducted in June 2020. Respondents’ sociodemographic data, spouse data (as reported by the respondents), and pandemic-related data were collected, followed by QoL data, measured by WHQOOL-BREF. WHOQL-BREF consists of 26 questions grouped into four domains: physical, psychological, social relationships, and environmental. Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis H and Spearman correlation analyses were employed to compare QoL between groups of sociodemographic characteristics. In total, 603 respondents were recruited. The respondents’ mean age is 35.3 years (SD = 7.61), most are females (82%), bachelor degree graduate (95%), Islam (78%), employed (69%), and assigned to work from home during the pandemic (76%). Married men reported better QoL in almost all domains than women; employed respondents reported higher QoL scores than unemployed; higher educated respondents reported higher QoL than those with lower education; respondents with higher income reported higher QoL than those with lower income. We found significant positive correlations between the QoL scores and age, spouse’s age, and marriage length, although they were considered small. Compared to Indonesian population normative scores pre-pandemic, our sample reported no difference in physical and social domains, lower in the psychological domain, but higher in the environmental domain. Indonesian married people, especially women, those with low level of education, currently out of work, and below-average financial condition are the ones who reported worse quality of life during the lockdown. These results can help direct the Indonesian government efforts in dealing with psychosocial problems during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially for married couples.

Objective: The vaccine is a solution that stimulates the immune system in order to prevent diseases. This study aimed to investigate the knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of family physicians working in primary care about the vaccine. Methods: The population of this descriptive study consisted of family physicians working in Elazığ provinces and districts. We reached 88.7% of family physicians. A questionnaire including demographic questions, 12 knowledge, 13 attitude and 5 behavior questions was applied to family physicians. The data were evaluated with SPSS 22 program. In statistical evaluations, Chi-square, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis and Spearman’s correlation tests were used. Statistical significance was set as p<0.05. Results: Of the 165 family physicians participating in the study, 66.7% were male, and the mean age was 40.67 ± 8.85. The correct answer rate of the 13 questions about the knowledge was 7.59 ± 2.17 on average. The flu vaccine, of which 15.8% of the participants had the most hesitation in administration, was the vaccine that 52.6% applied to themselves and their relatives most. There was no significant difference between the correct answers of those with and without children (p> 0.05). The attitude score was higher in married people than singles (p = 0.006) and people with children compared to those without children (p = 0.012). The behavioral score of the 46-55 age group was higher than that of married people (p <0.001), those who had no children (p <0.001), and those who did research (p <0.001). A positive correlation was found between age and attitude (p = 0.02) and behavioral score (p = 0.03). There was no significant difference between the self-administered vaccine status and the number of correct answers (p> 0.05). Conclusions: We determined that family physicians who were primarily responsible for vaccination had misinformation about the vaccine, that the researchers’ behavior score was high, and that age and attitude and behavior score were positively related.
