One of the aims of human sciences seek to understand the essences and meanings of human experiences by focusing on philosophical, epistemological, methodological, and linguistic principles through transcendental phenomenology and hermeneutics, two philosophies and research methodologies central to qualitative research. Therefore, fusing approaches provides a space where both epistemology and methodology within both traditions can merge to yield meaning and understanding, and at the same time, offer a new approach to dealing with data collection and data analysis without neglecting or distorting original leading concepts. Fusing approaches comes into being as the merging of overlapping and deferring epistemological, methodological, and rhetorical assumptions that a researcher brings into play and actually puts into practice sustaining a purposeful and explicit sense of neutrality to assure methodological trustworthiness. Moved by my sensitivity to lived experience, in this paper, I explicate in a step-by-step fashion the combination of Moustakas’ modification of Stevick-Colaizzi-Keen method of phenomenological analysis and Van Manen’s (1990) hermeneutic approach to phenomenology in data collection and analysis. In fusing approaches, I encourage researchers to generate knowledge and show understanding emanated from both transcendental phenomenology and hermeneutics sustaining a deep sense of neutrality, co-creation, thoughtfulness, and rigor.

Vernacular architecture is a modest style of building used to maintain the balance of human relations with nature. This architectural style is specific to a region and passed down from one generation to another to embody cultural values. However, its development is currently facing globalization and modernization challenges, thereby leading to a gradual shift of this ancestral heritage to modern buildings. Change is unavoidable due to continuous evolution, however, the meaning inherent architecture buildings need to be maintained because it contains the cultural and social values of the associated local community. Furthermore, vernacular building space is a place for social activities and contains historical meaning applicable to modern buildings. Its functionality responds to changes and the needs of times while maintaining the local essence. Therefore, this research aims to determine the suitable method needed to reveal the meaning of vernacular architectural space. Data were collected from the conscious mind of space users through in-depth interviews by applying epoche, which were further reduced, categorized, and integrated to determine its meaning. The data collected through a literature review were analyzed using the content analysis method. The results showed that transcendental phenomenology is the right method to determine the meaning of vernacular architectural space. Based on the results, it is concluded that the meaning passed down from one generation to another could be expressed through the conscious experience of space users. Furthermore, transcendental phenomenology helped reveal the meaning without the intervention of the author’s knowledge, therefore it is unbiased and applicable in modern buildings.

Abstract Dan Zahavi has questioned whether the use of a transcendental phenomenological epoché is essential for phenomenological psychology. He criticizes the views of Amedeo Giorgi by asserting that Husserl did not view the transcendental reduction as needed for an entrance into phenomenological psychology and that, if one thinks so, phenomenological psychology would be in danger of being absorbed within transcendental phenomenology. Thirdly, rather than envisioning transcendental phenomenology as a purification for phenomenological psychology, Zahavi recommends a dialogue between transcendental phenomenologists and psychologists. However, the two disciplines are closer for Husserl who also conceives phenomenological psychology as a self-standing science, and Giorgi is not as rigid on the necessity of transcendental phenomenology for phenomenological psychology. Alfred Schutz, following Husserl’s “Nachwort,” develops his own distinctive phenomenological psychology that appreciates disciplinary convergences and respects boundaries, while also articulating a wider understanding of epoché as an anthropological fact operative beyond the limits of transcendental phenomenology.

The article proposes a reconstruction of the Kunstlehre concept, which occupies an important place in the structural and disciplinary section of Husserl's phenomenology. The key point of the presented reconstruction is its separation from the traditional interpretation of Kunstlehre criticized by Husserl and the advancement of a new project that coordinates three levels – theoretical, normative and practical. The theoretical level (pure logic), being complementary to the normative level (pure norms of reason), forms the basis of the disciplines represented by the program of science of knowledge (Wissenschaftslehre). The scientific study program falls on the period of the so- called logicism of Husserl, regarding which there is an opinion in the research literature that it was interrupted by the founder of phenomenology immediately after the writing of the first volume of “Logical Investigations”. However, on the basis of textual arguments, we show that this program was extended by Husserl up to his last works. The nature of this expansion is related to the practical level of Kunstlehre (transcendental phenomenology). The main task of this level was to provide science and scientists with noetic conditions, i.e. skills of transcendental criticism of consciousness. It is suggested that the presented reconstruction of Kunstlehre shows the permanent development of the program of logicism by Husserl, and also demonstrates the connection of this program with transcendental phenomenology.

Abstract Husserl famously argues that it is essential to perception to present the perceived object in perspectives. Hence, there is no – and there cannot be – perception without perspectival givenness. Yet, it seems that there are counterexamples to this essentialist claim, for we seem to be able to imagine beings that do not perceive in perspectives. Recently, there have been some accounts in the literature that critically discuss those counterexamples and assess to what extent they succeed in challenging Husserl’s essentialist claim. In this paper I discuss three different answers to these counterexamples, all of them are found wanting. I offer a novel solution, taking into account some crucial findings of the contemporary debate about imagination and modality. I argue that this new solution is capable of fully vindicating Husserl’s essentialist claim. Finally, I reconstruct Husserl’s own way to treat such counterexamples, in order to showcase the notion of modality Husserlian phenomenology relies on. I argue for the hitherto widely underappreciated point that Husserl’s transcendental phenomenology cannot appeal to strictly absolute modality but that the kind of modality in Husserlian phenomenology is conditional on the facticity that we have the transcendental structure we do in fact have.

At the end of 2019, precisely in December, a new Covid-19 virus outbreak was discovered in Wuhan, China. The emergence of this virus was first detected in Indonesia in March 2020. Since this virus first appeared in Indonesia, the government immediately issued a new policy, namely refocusing and reallocating the APBN expenditure budget, as well as accelerating the procurement of goods/services for health facilities, such as drug procurement. - Medicines and medical devices. As a result of this refocusing and reallocation of the APBN budget, the absorption of the expenditure budget has accumulated at the end of the year. This accumulation of budget absorption tends to be low at the beginning of the year and soaring high at the end of the year. The purpose of this study is to determine the factors that cause the accumulation of budget absorption due to Covid-19. This type of research is descriptive qualitative with transcendental phenomenology. The data analysis technique used is Miles & Huberman. The data in this study were obtained through literature study, document analysis, observation, and interviews. The results of this study indicate that changes in the budget, human resources, and procurement of goods/services cause the accumulation of budget absorption.

Accounting, traditionally, had been caught up in understanding as a rational set of procedures for economic decision making (Williams & Ravenscroft, 2015; Staubus, 2000; Puxty & Laughlin, 1983). This approach is popular as the objective of the IASB framework. It has been accepted in many developing countries, including Indonesia which has fully adopted Western accounting practices (Mulawarman, 2011). Besides, a standard-setting board, the IAI (Institute of Indonesia Chartered Accountants), considers accounting to be neutral and applicable anywhere. Indonesian Islamic boarding schools, for example, have been forced to use conventional accounting. Even though, conventional accounting is irrelevant to apply in Indonesian Islamic boarding schools because it was created and used by capitalist Western societies (Kamla & Haque, 2017; Velayutham, 2014; Napier, 2007; Baydoun & Willett, 1995). We believe that the key to understanding accounting lies in the individual, namely "I" who implements accounting. Thus, to examine how the experiences of "I" shape their perceptions of accounting, this paper seeks to understand the meaning of "accounting" in a religious based organization: Indonesian Islamic Boarding Schools. Keywords: Accounting, Indonesian Islamic Boarding Schools, Transcendental Phenomenology

Objective - Accounting has been defined as the art of recording since it is trapped at a technical level. However, accounting as a symbol have different meanings for different people depending on one's interests, goals, knowledge, and perspectives. The aim of this study was to better understand the meaning of accounting in religious organizations, especially in pesantren (Indonesian Islamic boarding schools). Methodology/Technique - In the interpretive paradigm, this study uses Husserl's transcendental phenomenological theory. Data analysis begins with identifying noema (texture analysis), then obtaining noesis through bracketing (structural analysis). Furthermore, understanding the noema-noesis relationship results in deliberate analysis. Finally, the whole process of generating pure consciousness is called eidetic reduction. Findings - Each informant has a different meaning to accounting depending on individual experience. Beyond materialism, the meaning of accounting is fascinating. According to the findings of the study, accounting has two meanings: first, accounting is ikhlas (sincere), and second, accounting is a discipline. Novelty - Accounting will not be separated from theology and spirituality, especially accounting applied in religious organizations. Based on the experience of "I", accounting has a different meaning from conventional accounting. Type of Paper - Empirical. Keywords: Accounting; Interpretive; Pesantren; Transcendental Phenomenology. JEL Classification: M41, M49.

Abstract In adapting Husserl’s philosophical phenomenological method to conduct research in psychology I included Husserl’s two methodical steps, the epochē and the reduction (sometimes combined), as part of the scientific procedure. Zahavi objected to my use of those steps. This article is a response to his objections and it is a reaffirmation of the necessity of the epochē and reduction for Husserlian phenomenological psychological research. A description of Husserl’s acknowledged types of psychology and a description of his transcendental phenomenology are also presented along with two outlines of how Husserlian phenomenological research could be conducted.
