Bandar Lampung is a densely populated urban area consisting of land and water with several plateaus and mountains that stretch across this region. To support sustainable development in a city area, it is necessary to have a regional arrangement concept that considers all aspects, one of which is the potential disaster aspect. One of the potential disasters in Bandar Lampung, especially in Panjang District is a mass movement/landslide. Based on previous research, this area has been recorded as having several historical points of landslides, but there is no mitigation/response specifically for this type of disaster. The purpose of this study was to determine the arrangement of rocks that are in the landslide-prone zone in Panjang District using the geoelectric resistivity method and to analyze the soil engineering assessment obtained from the results of lithological analysis using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). The results of the geoelectric analysis indicate that there are three lithological layers in the study area; namely tuff sediments with resistivity values and depths between (1–40 Ωm; 0.4–4 m), clay sand (40–120 Ωm; 2–4 m), and solid breccias with igneous rock components (>120 Ωm; 2–22 m). Furthermore, based on the results of the analysis of soil engineering assessments, tuff sediment as a surface layer that has experienced landslides has been identified as having susceptible lithological engineering properties because it has undergone quite intensive oxidation and weathering. The data obtained is expected to be used as supporting data for disaster potential-based regional planning.

In any production and service industry, the safety of their workers/labors is very critical. The workers directly related with production are generally more prone to the threats because of their exposure to electro-mechanical, chemical, thermal, environmental, civil and other hazards. The coal mining industry in one of the most risky industries in terms of workers’ lives hazards. In the under-developed countries, any potential disaster in the underground mining turns into huge catastrophic losses of both the human lives and equipment. This paper presents some statistical data of mining disasters worldwide and propose an architecture for a smart helmet to be used by miners for their safe working inside the coalmines.

Badung Regency is a very famous tourist destination to foreign countries. However, most of these tourist destination areas are located in disaster-prone areas. This studyaims to determine the role of disaster-resilient villages in providing security and comfortto tourists visiting tourist objects. This study used a descriptive-analytic method with adesk study design. Disaster Resilient Villages / Kelurahan are villages that have theindependent ability to adapt and face potential disaster threats. Currently, there are 31disaster-resilient villages in Badung Regency, most of which are tourist destinationareas. In disaster-resilient coastal areas, the potential for tsunami disasters, highlandareas are potentially affected by landslides. The prevention and mitigation efforts thathave been carried out by the Badung Regency Government include; build an earlywarning system, install warning signs, carry out disaster simulations and disseminateinformation to the public.

The risk of development (or disaster) depends on the nature of the development itself and the potential disaster in the development area. However, the risk of disasters is a matter of perception. It depends on how an individual or group of individuals see or assess the characteristics of a phenomenon. Even it is subjective; it is vital to understand what risks people consider to be acceptable, especially the local players involved in the development works. Therefore, this paper presents how the local players perceive disaster risk in underground utility development. These local players were the authorities at the federal and state level, industry players, and academicians. Series of focus group discussions were conducted for data collection purposes, and the data was analyzed narratively. One aspect is the perception of disaster risk occurrence; either the disaster affects the development or otherwise. In turn, this evidence-based information could be one of the essential feeders to policymakers and disaster managers on what disaster risk reduction programmes have a better chance of being accepted by the local players. The success of this kind of programme is essential for sustainable underground utility functions for the future.

The main body of the utility tunnel is all kinds of pipelines, so the normal operation of the pipelines is very important for the operation benefit of the comprehensive utility tunnel; meanwhile, identifying the potential risks of the pipelines in time can reduce the losses caused by the uncertain risks to the comprehensive utility tunnel. This paper uses the Stackelberg game model to analyze the risk information sharing among utility tunnel institutions which concludes in utility tunnel company and pipeline company, which is helpful for understanding the decision-making process in the game and its equilibrium results can guide utility tunnel company’s decision-making behavior in seeking utility tunnel risk treatment. On this basis, this paper analyzes the potential disaster risk factors in the operation process of utility tunnel, and constructs the risk early warning model of integrated pipeline corridor based on Bayesian network. The results show that the potential disaster risk during the operation of utility tunnel is evaluated, and the overall risk probability level, the key path and key risk factors of the occurrence of disaster risk events are obtained.

Chapter 5 shows how the collective approach to research established in the Mazda tests was utilized in the chaos brought to every aspect of film production by the introduction of sound. Rather than focusing on sound itself (the focus of much scholarship), this chapter concentrates on its ramifications for everything from lights and cameras to set materials and lab practices as a way of understanding how the entire system dealt with the changes in the industry. The Hollywood studios viewed the drop in technical quality brought by sound as a potential disaster for the industry once the novelty wore off. For the studios to quickly regain the professional standards expected of Hollywood films, the Academy led a “school” in which technicians from across the studios and manufacturers shared knowledge about the new sound systems. These collective activities served to tame the chaos of sound and create collaborative practices that were perpetuated and shared across the studios in a systemized way for the first time.

Southeast Asia was in a natural disaster thus the management was supposed to be a priority to the existing states in this territory. It is the most vulnerable to disaster in the world. By then, the member states of ASEAN agree to issue the regulation for disaster management, ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER) that in forwarding established ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Centre). It is facilitating cooperation and coordination for disaster management in the ASEAN territory. The organization was established in Indonesia as a member state with potential disaster. To reinforce the regulation and disaster management system, the government issues Act No.24 of 2007 on disaster management as the base and manual. The policy refers to the activities implemented immediately for an accident in control arising worst impact, involving rescue and evacuation of the victim, properties, compliance of demand, shelter, refugees handling, and facilities-infrastructure restoration. Moreover, the Act regulating disaster mitigation-based layout system set in an attempt to improve safety and living comfort.
