The essence of social media is growing rapidly in the tourism industry. More and more researchers are working on investigations in the areas of the impact of social media on many aspects of the tourism industry. Social media plays a significant role to develop strategy for tourism management. Therefore, this research based on the knowledge to support education in tourism management. The main objective of the paper is 1. To investigate the relationship between social media and tourism. 2. To examine the positive and negative impact of social media in tourism industry. Through a comprehensive literature review, this paper identifies information search and decision-making behaviors which is relevant to social media in tourism, and recommends the best use of social media for tourism.

Despite the fact that the branding of football is not a new phenomenon, the emergence of new media has provided the means and the opportunity for the widespread promotion of football club's brands. At the same time, the growing popularity of social media among football fan has empowered them to express their opinions and has granted them unlimited resources for information search and exchange. This chapter aims to examine the relationship that exists between Real Madrid's digital marketing actions and its promotion as a brand and the loyalty of its supporters. An online questionnaire was distributed among sports and football fans in order to identify their profile, their preferred communication channels, their use of social media and their knowledge about Real Madrid.

The use of social media has a wide range of applications in different areas of life. Accordingly, the impact of social networks in everyday life is growing. Bosnia and Herzegovina has a solid telecommunication infrastructure, which is of great importance for the development of social networks. This paper will show the application of social networks in areas such as tourism, education, marketing, politics and local and state administration bodies in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The massive use of social media, especially Facebook, has an impact on student’s neurocognitive performance and mental health in Morocco. The purpose of this study is to show the impact of the Facebook addiction, especially with Smartphone on school performance and mental health. On the methodological part a questionnaire was used beside the Bergan Facebook Addiction Scale Test (BFAS) which has been validated in the Arab version with Cronbach's Alpha (α = 0.788), and the Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMP-Q) Arabic version, with a general anxiety test, which are distributed to 541 participants in the middle and the high schools of Kenitra city 55.1% of girls and 44.9% of boys have a mean age of 15.238 years, SD = ± 0.06. The results obtained confirmed by a negative correlation in relationship with the first semester general score and Facebook addiction by the BFAS test, and a significant relationship between the increase in Facebook addiction in parallel with the state of anxiety (P <.001) and Nomophobia (P <.000). We have been able to pick up the negative impact of the social media exposure on the performance and mental health of adolescent students. in order to have a solution from this plague in the future.

Abstract Background:  Social media are tools that supports electronic conversation. suggested , social media are “a group of internet-based applications that build on the ideological and technological foundations of Web 2.0, that allow the creation and exchange of User Generated Content. Aim of the study: Is to identify the pattern of usage of social media among a sample of Iraqi medical students including the devices used, the time consumed, and   the purpose of usage. Materials &Methods: The study, which is a retrospective cross-sectional, was conducted among medical students at college of Medicine\Baghdad University at 2019 as an online survey for duration of 3 months Data was entered and analyzed using spss version 24.Informed consent was obtained from the participants and the study was approved by the research committee in the college. Results The mean age of the participants in this study was 20.8 with sd 1.78. Results had shown no significant association between the usefulness of social media for educational values and type of social media, device used, and the time spent on these media. Results had shown that those who use social media more frequently were not significantly worried about the potential of social media abuse. Conclusions A study exploring more objectively the relationship between students’ use of social media with their academic achievements and what sort of social media interventions associated with better learning are probably needed. Such knowledge may be useful to guide medical educators to better utilize social media in their instructional strategies.

This study aims to express an understanding of how information-seeking patterns among the political elite of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle in Surakarta relate to the issue of the possible nomination of Gibran Rakabuming Raka - son of Indonesian President Joko Widodo as a candidate for Mayor of Surakarta. This research analyzes through social media, especially Facebook, about the relationship between information seeking behavior of the political elite of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) with certainty about the issues circulating in the community. This research paradigm uses phenomenology with a qualitative approach. The source / participant of this research is the political elite PDI Perjuangan this is because according to the news circulating Gibran will run for office using PDI Perjuangan party vehicles. This study concludes that the pattern of information seeking among the political elite of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) in Surakarta with information certainty needs. The need for information seeking is growing, making the PDI Perjuangan elite in Surakarta a source of information which then forms information search behavior patterns based on the use of social media, especially Facebook.

In the age of digitalization, social media has played a significant role in quickly spreading the news about current affairs. From December 2019 to now, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), with its several mutated shapes, has more transmissible potential catastrophe and has become a severe phenomenon issue worldwide. The international spread of the epidemic has created fear among people, especially employees working physically in different organizations. The present research aimed to measure the impact of social media on its users in the China. The social media users more often were influenced by shocking news instructively and destructively. The research analysis was based on service sector employees and data collected from 630 respondents via a structured questionnaire. This research was confirmed the negative impact of fear on social media on the performance of employees. This research was also confirmed the moderation impact of the COVID-19 vaccine on the relationship between social media fear and employee performance. This research recommends that the China Censor Board checked the news and its validity to reduce the fear of COVID-19 among employees. This research will become a roadmap for organizations and media controllers to understand the impact of social media during an intense situation. The telecommunication sector will reduce psychological disease and enhance the work capability of employees by controlling unnecessary and unapproved material about sensitive issues.

Social media is a communication tool that is commonly used by everyone in today's technological era. Excessive use of social media will cause addiction, and have an impact on people's psychology. This article aims to reveal data on the impact of social media addiction on the psychology of society and its implications for counseling. The research uses qualitative research methods, especially phenomenology. The research instrument is the researcher himself, and for data collection using in-depth interviews and observation. The research respondents are the people of West Sumatra with male and female sexes aged 15 to 50 years. The data analysis technique is using Miles and Huberman data analysis with the following steps; data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The results of the study found that the psychological impact of social media addiction generally affects people's cognitive and emotions. The positive impact is cognitive, namely increasing insight and thinking skills, as well as giving birth to various creative ideas. The negative impact is causing forgetfulness, panic, dead-end thoughts, lack of logical thinking. Emotionally the positive impact of using social media by the community is to create happiness, optimism, motivation, enthusiasm, enthusiasm. The negative impact is causing anxiety, despair, sadness, resentment, anger and frustration. The results of this study have implications for counseling, namely preventively developing counseling techniques that aim to reduce social media addiction. Curatively, it can develop counseling techniques that can improve brain function and reduce anxiety levels.

Abstract The public’s actions will likely have a significant effect on the course of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Human behavior is conditioned and shaped by information and perceptions of people. This study investigated the impact of risk perception on trust in government and self-efficacy. It examined whether the use of social media helps people adopt preventative actions during the pandemic. To test this hypothesis, data were gathered from 512 individuals (students and academicians) who were based in Malaysia during COVID-19. Our results suggested that risk perception had a significant effect on trust in government and self-efficacy. Moreover, these correlations were stronger when social media was used as a source for gathering information on COVID-19, and in some cases it even helped the user avoid being exposed to the virus. This study assessed the relationship between risk perception and the awareness gained from using social media during the pandemic and also highlighted how social media usage influences trust in government and self-efficacy.

Cultural tourism is the main attraction in the traditional village of Kemiren, Banyuwangi Regency. Macananegara tourists as well as domestic tourists visit the traditional village of Kemiren to witness first-hand the life of the Osing tribe which is still traditional. This research was conducted to determine the impact of tourism on the socio-cultural aspects of the people of the Kemiren traditional village, Banyuwangi Regency. This research is a qualitative research. Meanwhile, the strategy carried out by the government is in the form of preventive actions such as outreach to MSME players, making local regulations on tourism and study tours of tourism management with tourism business actors. The basic conclusion in this study later is, as a cultural tourism destination in general, the ongoing tourism industry activities affect the socio-cultural aspects of the Osing community, the Kemiren traditional village, Banyuwangi Regency. In addition, the increase in the community's economy is also encouraged due to changes in the livelihoods of local residents, as well as local government strategies in the form of policy making are expected to be able to minimize the negative impact of tourism. Cultural tourism in the traditional village of Kemiren, Banyuwangi Regency is used as a tool to maintain the cultural existence of the Kemiren traditional village, which is currently being abandoned by the Osing tribe, the traditional village of Kemiren, Banyuwangi Regency.Keywords: Tourism, Socio-culture, Osing Tribe

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the use of social media and its impact on information search, communication with a company, and purchase and re-purchases of products and services. Using use and gratification theory as a starting point, it also examines the impact of satisfaction of use of social media in the process of purchasing and re-purchasing products and services. Design/methodology/approach An online survey was conducted with 444 participants, and the data were analyzed using the partial least squares structural equation modeling technique to observe the effects between the variables of social media use, search information, communication with the company, purchase, re-purchase and satisfaction of use of social media. Findings The results reflect how the use of social media generates significant rewards that significantly impact the search for information and the communication with the company. The data also show how communication with the company has an impact on the purchase and re-purchase of products and services. Finally, it was empirically confirmed that the gratification received by users through social media use impacts satisfaction with social media use. Originality/value The results contribute to how social media impacts alternative evaluations through the gratification of user needs, resulting in motives and behaviors leading to the purchase of goods and services, as established by Use and Gratification Theory. In its contributions to the Academy, Use and Gratification Theory (U&G) explains why individuals use and share information using social media. First, it justifies the purchase and re-purchase of products and services due to user satisfaction according to users’ experience using social media. Second, it presents a vision of how the use of social media is a significantly important result in the gratification of consumer needs.
