<p>This research was conducted to determine the impact of the type of sports done by School of Physical Education and Sports students and other variables on their level of communication skills. Target population of the study is Balıkesir University, School of Physical Education and Sports; and the sample group consists of 330 students selected by random sampling method from 2014-2015 academic year in this institution. The data was collected using “Communication Skills Assessment Scale” which was developed by Korkut (1996) and tested in terms of validation (0.86) and reliability (0.78), and “Personal Information Form” prepared by the researcher was used in order to determine the demographic features of students. Collected data was examined in terms of statistically different variables (gender, class level, academic department, branch of sports, perceived academic success level); results were discussed and suggestions were offered.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Özet</strong></p><p>Bu araştırma, Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin yaptıkları spor türü ve diğer bazı değişkenlerin iletişim beceri düzeylerine etkisinin ne olduğunu belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini; Balıkesir Üniversitesi, Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Yüksekokulu öğrencileri, Örneklem grubunu ise bu kurumda 2014-2015 eğitim-öğretim yılında öğrenim gören ve tesadüfi örneklem metodu ile seçilen toplam 330 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Verilerin toplanmasında Korkut (1996) tarafından geliştirilmiş, geçerlilik (0.86) ve güvenilirlik (0.78) testleri yapılmış “İletişim Becerilerini Değerlendirme Ölçeği” ve öğrencilerin demografik özelliklerini belirlemek amacıyla araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler istatistiksel olarak farklı değişkenler (cinsiyet, sınıf düzeyi, okuduğu bölüm, spor branşı türü, algılanan akademik başarı düzeyi) açısından incelenmiş ve sonuçlar tartışılarak öneriler sunulmuştur.</p>

<p>The population of this research was the students of Sakarya University, School of Physical Education and Sports. The sample was 227 students, who were chosen by simple random sampling method, from the departments of Physical Education and Sports, Sport Management and Recreation in the academic year of 2009-2010. The ACL personality test and a personal information form were used as the data collection tool. Validity and reliability study of ACL was made by Savran (2006). In this process, ACL and the personal information form were applied to participants twice providing two weeks between the applications. The scores of ACL was analyzed to check whether there are significant differences according to the independent variables. Independent sample t-test is used when there are two categories in the independent variables. In this research,  there were some significant variables at level of .05. Results showed that the participants’ personality traits significantly differ according to their perception of the social status of the profession, working in this profession in future, gender and dominant personality traits.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Özet</strong></p><p>Bu araştırmanın evrenini, Sakarya Üniversitesi’nde Beden Eğitimi ve Spor eğitimi alan öğrenciler; örneklemini ise Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Öğretmenliği, Spor Yöneticiliği Bölümü ve Rekreasyon Bölümü’nde 2009-2010 eğitim ve öğretim yılında öğrenimine devam etmekte olan ve tesadüfen seçilen gönüllü 227 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada, veri toplama aracı Savran (2006) tarafından Türkiye için geçerlik, güvenirlik ve norm çalışması yapılan Sıfat Listesi (ACL) Kişilik Testi’dir. Ayrıca araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan kişisel bilgi formu uygulanmıştır. Araştırmanın uygulama sürecinde, Beden Eğitimi adaylarına önce Sıfat Listesi (ACL) Kişilik Testi iki hafta ara ile iki kez uygulanmış ve kendilerini bu sıfatlara göre derecelendirmeleri istenmiştir. Bu liste ile birlikte Kişisel Bilgi Formu ’nu da kendilerine göre doldurmaları istenmiştir. Anket ile toplanan bağımsız değişkenlere göre ACL Ölçeğinin alt boyut puanlarının farklılıklarını belirlemek üzere hipotez testleri yapılmıştır. Bağımsız değişkenlerin iki kategoriden oluştuğu hipotez testi olarak ilişkisiz grup “t” testi kullanılmıştır. Beden Eğitimi ve spor bölümünde öğrenim görmekte olan öğrencilerin kişilik özellikleri; mesleklerinin toplumsal statüsünü algılama değişkenine, gelecekte bu alanda çalışma değişkenine, cinsiyet değişkenine göre, öğrenim görmekte olan öğrencilerin sahip oldukları baskın kişilik özelliklerine göre istatistiksel açıdan en az .05 düzeyinde anlamlı farklılıklar bulunmuştur.</p>

<p class="apa">The main objective for this survey is to assess the relationship between physical education teachers’ personality and students’ individual with social behaviors. The statistical population of the study was all the teachers of physical education working at high schools in the academic year 2012-2013. The sample consisted of sixty teachers that were selected by stratified sampling method proportionate to the sample volume. The research method was descriptive-correlative type. The collection data instruments were the five-factor questionnaire of McCrae and Costa (2013) and a questionnaire about beliefs, individual and social behaviors tailored by the researcher. The reliability of two questionnaires in a pilot study was 0.89 and 0.83 respectively. Both questionnaires had conceptual and construct validity. The findings of the study indicated that there was a relationship between personality aspects of physical education teachers and students’ beliefs, individual and social behaviors. Since paying attention to the personality of physical education teachers could help improve the students’ beliefs and individual behaviors.</p>

In this study, it was aimed to examine teachers’ level of phubbing and being phubbed in terms of various variables. The study was designed as a survey research with a target population of teachers working in the Turkish public schools during the 2020-2021 academic years. The sample was formed using a convenience sampling method and made up of 307 (141 female, 166 male) teachers whose ages ranged from 23 to 64. Research data were collected through a questionnaire including “Personal Information Form”, “Generic Scale of Phubbing (GSP)” and “Generic Scale of Being Phubbed (GSBP)”. Descriptive statistics, correlation analyses and multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) tests were conducted for the analysis of the collected data. As a result of the research, participating teachers’ level of phubbing and being phubbed were determined as moderate level. There was no significant difference in terms of gender, educational status and branch variables. Regarding marital status variable, nomophobia and self-isolation levels of single teachers were found to be higher than those of married ones. Age was found to be negatively and weakly correlated with the levels of self-isolation. In addition, the levels of phubbing were found to be positively and moderately associated with the levels of being phubbed.

The purpose of the research was to examine the impact of students’ reading habits on their academic success. For this matter, among 110 students, 44 students of language Preparatory School of Tishk International University have been selected randomly to respond the survey questions. According to the 24-week annual language teaching curriculum in Preparatory School, 44 students' annual academic success has been observed. Data has been analyzed by SPSS software and the results were shown in the heading of the effect level and quality of reading habit on students' academic achievement. In this empirical study, students were not forced to read. They read books as an extracurricular reading activity during their academic year.

The high use of web systems in learning implies that e-learning is becoming a common successful learning method in wider academic contexts. In order to enhance and support schooling and literacy, e-learning includes leveraging information and communication technology (ICT). The purpose of the analysis was to determine the correlation between e-learning and the academic achievement of students in higher learning. A set of 150 author’s observational studies, carried in Russian educational institutions (both in the period before and during the COVID-19pandemic), was used to measure findings using Cohen’s formula focused on a rigorous sampling method. The findings of the equation (= 0.712) reveal that ICT has a major statistically favourable effect on the academic success of students in elearning. The results suggest that ICT has a substantial positive effect on the total success of students in universities.

Communicative skills are the mobilization of a set of resources that are practically manifested by those involved in the interaction and are applied to communicate successfully. Regarding the training of communication skills, we mention the three levels of their acceptance: the taxonomy and the fields assumed by the key European skills; the inner structure of skills as goals: knowledge, abilities, attitudes; university curriculum (including general and specific skills).The purpose of the experiment was to develop communication skills by introducing practical studies into the content of learning (seminars and individual work of students), increasing the value of each student's academic performance, as well as improving the student's relationship within the university collective and developing the competency model in communication needed by the specialist in the field. The research hypothesis: the introduction of practical studies in the seminars and the individual work of the students, through the use of a modern, interactive teaching vision, determines the development of students' communication skills, positive interpersonal relation and improvement of performances and academic success in the subject "Management of Communication in Physical Education and Sports". The practical-applicative research took place at SUPES, with students from the Sports Faculty in the academic year 2016-2017. The sample of subjects was made up of 28 students, the third year of studies. Methodology of research: pedagogical experiment, systematic observation method, test method, observation method, method of portfolio analysis / materials of students (sheets, posters, papers, case studies, reports, research projects created by them). The result of the research is training and development of students' communication skills in the course " Management of Communication in Physical Education and Sports", by substantiating the application methodology in the learning process, respectively the result of the knowledge, practical skills, including the attitudes trained by communication , which will lead to an increased level of their training.

The aim of this research is to determine the physical activity levels of physical education and sports school students and to examine the physical activity levels according to some demographic characteristics. The objective of the research is composed of 480 students who are studying different programs in Bozok University Physical Education and Sports School in 2017-2018 academic year. The sample of the research is composed of 300 students’ determined random sampling method among the students studying in Bozok University Physical Education and Sports School in 2017-2018 academic year. Demographic information about the students in the survey was obtained with the personal information form and information about the level of participation in physical activity by the International Physical Activity Scale (Short form). Frequency, percentage, cross tables, Chi-Square and ANOVA tests were used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the analyzes; statistically significant differences were found between physical activity levels according to gender, body mass index, education department, sports branch and cigarette use variables (p<.05).

The aim of this study was to examine the impact of self-directed learning readiness on critical thinking and general self-efficacy among the students of the School of Physical Education and Sports. In line with this aim, the research sample consisted of 419 students who were randomly selected from the School of Physical Education and Sports in Erciyes University. To collect data, the study used Self-Directed Learning Readiness Scale, Critical Thinking Scale, General Self-Efficacy Scale and 'Personal Information Form' created by the researcher.The data obtained through the Personal Information Form was statistically analyzed using SPSS 20.0 package program. The candidates' personal information and inventory total scores and factor points were presented by calculating frequency (f) and percentage (%) values. Pearson Moment Correlation Coefficient analysis (r) was performed to indicate the relationship between the points obtained from the scales while multiple regression analysis was performed to identify whether the points are predictor of each other. (β)The study found a positive significant relationship between self-directed learning readiness and critical thinking. A positive significant relationship was also found between self-directed learning readiness and general self-efficacy. Finally, there was a positive high relationship between general self-efficacy and critical thinking.   The results of the study suggest that self-directed learning readiness affects critical thinking and general self-efficacy characteristics as it influences other aspects related to education. Self-directed learning readiness predicts critical thinking and general self-efficacy by 50.5%. Hence, authentic environments should be created to improve students' self-directed learning readiness when preparing education and training programs especially as a significant aspect of modern education systems in today's world.

Academic success of medical students is influenced by cognitive and non-cognitive factors. Included in non-cognitive factors associated with academic success in the pre-clinical phase is the basic personality. The aim of this study was to describe the personality of Faculty of Medicine Universitas HKBP Nommensen students batch 2016 based on academic success. This research is a descriptive research. The subjects of this study were 50 students of the Faculty of Medicine Universitas HKBP Nommensen class of 2016 who were selected by the total sampling method. Personality data was obtained from the Indonesian Mental Health Test report which was undertaken by students while participating in the selection of the Faculty of Medicine Universitas HKBP Nommensen in the 2016/2017 academic year. Based on academic success in the first and second years, both students who were successful and those who did not succeed academically, the majority were in the big category for conscientiousness, while moderate for openness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism domain. When compared based on academic success, in the first and second years a similar picture of personality was found in the group of students who succeeded and did not succeed academically.

The present research was aimed to study the impact of communication skills training on the adjustment of opiate addicts. The research was quasi experimental. Statistical population consisted of all addicts in Tehran in 2014-15. Single-stage cluster sampling method was used in the present research so that one of the rehabilitation camps in West of Tehran was selected. Afterwards, 30 addicts were chosen as a sample size using simple random sampling method and were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. Data collection was carried out based on Bell Adjustment Questionnaire (1961). The reliability was investigated using Cronbach's alpha and the obtained value was equal to 0.84. Moreover, content validity was employed in order to measure the validity of the test which the questionnaire was approved by the relevant experts and scholars in this regard. Analysis of the obtained data was performed using SPSS software in two parts of descriptive and inferential (Covariance Analysis). Findings indicated that communication skills training leads to an increase in the level of adjustment of addicts in every five dimensions of social adjustment, family adjustment, emotional adjustment, physical adjustment and occupational adjustment.
