Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb (temulawak) is a native Indonesian plant; ethnobotanically, it can facilitate breast milk, body fresheners, stomach lozenges, and seizure medications. Temulawak contains essential oils, curcuminoids, and xanthorrhizol. Curcuminoids and xanthorrhizol have potential as antioxidants. Antioxidants in the body are useful for preventing oxidation reactions caused by free radicals, both from body metabolism and external factors. Curcuminoids are difficult to dissolve in water and have a very low bioavailability. Combining curcuminoids with oil can increase the absorption of curcuminoids into the systemic system. The low solubility and bioavailability can be overcome by combining temulawak rhizome extract and red fruit oil. Pandanus conoideus Lamk (red fruit), ethnobotanically, effectively prevents blindness, intestinal worms, skin diseases, and increasing stamina. Red fruit contains vitamin C, vitamin E, flavonoids, and β-carotene, potentially as antioxidants. Each sample of Curcuma and red fruit, as well as a mixture of Curcuma and red fruit samples, were tested for their antioxidant activity using the DPPH method (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl). The ethanol extract of temulawak rhizome has intense antioxidant activity because it has an IC50 of 55.21 ppm. Red fruit oil has feeble antioxidant activity because it has an IC50 of 2604.77 ppm. The 1: 1 ratio between red fruit oil and the ethanol extract of temulawak rhizome has weak antioxidant activity because it has an IC50 of only 1568.24 ppm. Meanwhile, the 1:10 ratio of red fruit oil and ethanol extract of temulawak rhizome has robust antioxidant activity because it has an IC50 of 19.85 ppm. It is concluded that the addition of oil to the ethanol extract of Curcuma can increase antioxidant activity.

ABSTRACTHabitat of sponge Stylissa sp., were under the sea and these sponges contain active compounds, which are more active than the compounds produced by terrestrial plants. Antioxidants are inhibitors of oxidation reactions due to the free radicals, which can cause weak damage to unsaturated cells, cell wall membranes, blood vessels, DNA bases, and lipid tissue, that causing disease. The study was conducted to determine the antioxidant activity of ethanol extracts  of sponge Stylissa sp., which is located on the Bangka Island, Likupang District, North Minahasa Regency. Sponge Stylissa sp., was extracted by maceration with using ethanol. Testing of antioxidant activity was carried out by the DPPH method measured by a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results of the study showed that ethanol extracts of sponge Stylissa sp., has antioxidant activity in each concentration and the highest at a concentration of 100 mg / L. The conclusion is a ethanol extract of sponge Stylissa sp. have high antioxidant activity with a concentration of 25 mg/L (77,40%), concentration of 50 mg/L (85,63%), concentration of 75 mg/L (88,66%), and concentration 100 mg/L (88,96%). Key words: Stylissa sp. Antioksidan adalah zat penghambat reaksi oksidasi akibat radikal bebas yang dapat menyebabkan kerusakan lemah tak jenuh, membran dinding sel, pembuluh darah, basa DNA, dan jaringan lipid sehingga menimbulkan penyakit. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak etanol biota laut spons Stylissa sp. yang terdapat di pulau Bangka, Kecamatan Likupang, Kabupaten Minahasa Utara. Spons Stylissa sp. ini diekstrak dengan metode maserasi menggunakan etanol. Pengujian aktivitas antioksidan ini dilakukan dengan metode DPPH yang diukur dengan alat spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan bahwa ekstrak etanol spons Stylissa sp. memiliki aktivitas antioksidan disetiap konsentrasi dan yang tertinggi pada konsentrasi 100 mg/L. Kesimpulan yang didapat bahwa ekstrak etanol spons Stylissa sp. memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang tinggi dengan konsentrasi 25 mg/L (77,40%), konsentrasi 50 mg/L (85,63%), konsentrasi 75 mg/L (88,66%), dan konsentrasi 100 mg/L (88,96%). Kata Kunci : Spons Stylissa sp., Antioksidan, DPPH (1,1-difenil-2-pikrilhidrazil)

Ulva lactuca Algae habitat was found in shallow marine waters and its morphology is thin and flat thallus. Ulva lactuca Algae, known as sea lettuce, contains a lot of chlorophyll in its cells. Chlorophyll has the ability as a free radical scavenger and also has antioxidant activity. Antioxidants are compounds that could inhibit oxidation reactions by binding to free radicals and highly reactive molecules. This study was conducted to determine the antioxidant activity of ethanol extract of Algae Ulva lactuca obtained from the Lembeh Strait, Bitung City. Ulva lactuca Algae was extracted by maceration method using ethanol solvent. Testing of antioxidant activity was carried out using the DPPH method, which was measured using a UV-VIS spectrophotometer. The results showed that the ethanol extracts of Ulva lactuca Algae had antioxidant activity with a percentage value of 51.63% at a concentration of 100 mg/L. Keywords : Ulva lactuca Algae, Antioxidants, Ethanol, DPPHABSTRAKHabitat tumbuhan Alga Ulva lactuca terdapat di air laut dan morfologinya berupa thallus tipis dan gepeng. Antioksidan merupakan senyawa yang dapat menghambat reaksi oksidasi dengan cara mengikat radikal bebas dan molekul yang sangat reaktif. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak etanol Alga Ulva lactuca yang diperoleh dari Peraian Selat Lembeh, Kota Bitung. Alga Ulva lactuca diekstrak dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol. Pengujian aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan dengan metode DPPH yang di ukur menggunakan Spektrofotometer UV-VIS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol Alga Ulva lactuca memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dengan nilai presentase sebesar 51,63% pada konsentrasi 100 mg/L. Kata kunci : Alga Ulva lactuca, Antioksidan, Etanol, DPPH

Antioxidants are compounds that can delay, reduce, slow down or inhibit oxidation reactions from free radical reactions. Antioxidants donate electrons to unstable free radicals so that these free radicals can be neutralized to not interfere with the body's metabolic processes. Red seaweed Galaxaura rugosa has potential as an antioxidant. The study aimed to determine the antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of red seaweed Galaxaura rugosa against DPPH free radicals based on the IC50 value. Phytochemical testing and determination of antioxidant activity were carried out using the DPPH method (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl), which was carried out quantitatively using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results of the phytochemical screening of red seaweed ethanol extract contained alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, steroids, and polyphenols and the IC50 value of red seaweed ethanol extract was 4.59 ppm, while the positive control for Vitamin C was 6.64 ppm. It was concluded that the ethanolic extract of red seaweed Galaxaura rugosa in the South Aceh District had high antioxidant potential, as evidenced by the small IC50 value of <50 µg/mL.Keywords: Antioxidants, Galauxara rugosa, phytochemicals, DPPH  ABSTRAKAktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak etanol rumput laut merah Galaxaura rugosa Antioksidan merupakan senyawa yang mampu menunda, memperkecil, memperlambat atau menghambat reaksi oksidasi dari reaksi radikal bebas. Rumput laut merah Galaxaura rugosa berpotensi sebagai antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak etanol rumput laut merah Galaxaura rugosa terhadap radikal bebas DPPH berdasarkan nilai IC50. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pengujian fitokimia dan penentuan aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan metode DPPH (2,2-difenil-1-pikrilhidrazil) yang dilakukan secara kuantitatif menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Hasil dari skrining fitokimia ekstrak etanol rumput laut merah mengandung senyawa alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, steroid dan polifenol serta nilai IC50 ekstrak etanol rumput laut merah sebesar 4,59 ppm sedangkan kontrol positif Vitamin C sebesar 6,64 ppm. Ekstrak etanol rumput laut merah Galaxaura rugosa di Kabupaten Aceh Selatan memiliki potensi antioksidan yang tinggi. dibuktikan dengan nilai IC50 yang yang kecil yaitu < 50 µg/mL.Kata kunci: Antioksidan, Galauxara rugosa, Fitokimia, DPPH

Antioxidants are substances that can neutralize free radicals, thus protecting the body from various diseases by binding to free radicals and highly reactive molecules that can damage cells. The use of high-dose synthetic antioxidants is reported to be toxic and carcinogenic. Tabar Kedayan root (Aristolochia foveolata Merr) is one of the native plants from North Kalimantan, which is empirically used as an anti-poison, containing secondary metabolites including alkaloids, tannins, flavonoids. Flavonoids are powerful antioxidants. Some studies report that the function of flavonoids can be to prevent and treat cancer. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of ethanol extract and n-hexane fraction, the ethyl acetate fraction of Tabar Kedayan root with 2.2 Diphenyl- 1-Picrilhydrazil (DPPH) method as a free radical compound. The results of the study obtained IC50 values for each sample, at ethyl acetate fraction 267.48 ppm, ethanol extract at 603.80 ppm, ethanol-water fraction 705.43 ppm, n- hexane fraction 1500 ppm. The antioxidant activity tests indicate that ethyl acetate fraction is categorized as weak antioxidant, while the ethanol-water fraction and n-hexane fraction exhibit no antioxidant activity. Antioxidants are compounds that can inhibit or prevent oxidation reactions, which are the result of chemical reactions and metabolic processes that occur in the body. Enhalus acoroides is a type of seagrass found in Indonesian waters, generally living in sandy sediments with high bioturbation. Lamun has good nutrition and fiber so that it can be a source of food and medicine. The aim of this study was to examine the antioxidant activity of the seagrass extract Enhalus acoroides against ABTS radicals (2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid). The results of the study of seagrass extract using ethanol solvents had a very strong antioxidant category ie 38,008 µg /ml, the smaller the absorbance value, the higher the inhibitory value in which the antioxidant activity of the extract is higher, but when compared with the routine compound control of 0.500 µg /ml, seagrass ethanol extract is still lower.

Unhealthy lifestyles and air pollution cause the number of free radicals in the body to increase. To protect the body from free radicals, there are antioxidant compounds as an antidote and stabilize free radicals. One of the Indonesian plants that can be used as antioxidants is gotu kola (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban. Objective: This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of gotu kola herb using the DPPH (2,2-Diphenyl-1-pikrilhidrazil) method. with IC50 value. Method: Gotu kola (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) was extracted by the soxhletation method using 96% ethanol solvent. The testing of antioxidant activity was carried out using the DPPH (2.2 Diphenyl-1-Pikrihydrazil) method. Result: Test results of antioxidant activity The ethanol extract of gotu kola herb showed an IC50 value of 78.20 ppm. Conclusion: This indicated that the ethanol extract of gotu kola herb was included in the criteria for strong antioxidants.

The skin is the organ of the body that is frequently exposed to direct UV rays from the sun, which causes the formation of ROS (reactive oxygen species), leading to cell death and tissue damage. This health problem can be overcome by using antioxidants to stabilize the free radicals. Mustard as an organic substance which contains polysaccharide compounds, vitamin C, carotene, quercetin, routine compounds, kaempferol and β-cytostreol, all of these are beneficial to skin health and beauty. Therefore, this study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of the total flavonoids and phenol content of mustard ethanol extract using the DPPH method. Furthermore, the extract at concentrations of 2, 4, and 6% was also tested for its anti-aging activity using the following parameters: moisture and oil content, texture, collagen, wrinkles, pigment, sensitivity, and pores. The results showed that the antioxidant activity of the green mustard had an IC50 value of 170.7839 µg/ml, a total phenol content of 14.471 mg GAE/g extract and flavonoid content of 12.753 mg QE/g extract. The effectiveness of the aging activity of the extract was tested using formulation 6%, which is better than 2%, and 4%. Thus, the percentage of water content recovery, oil content, texture, collagen, wrinkles, stains, sensitivity and pores respectively was 36.41, 39.33, 64.07, 17.65, 65.28, 50.14, 49.10 and 35.09%.  Consequently, it was concluded that the extract has the potential of being developed into a herbal beauty product.

Maserasi merupakan salah satu metode ekstraksi yang digunakan untuk menarik kandungan kimia dari bahan alam. Macerator Magnetic Stirrer (M-MS) merupakan alat yang dikembangkan untuk memaksimalkan proses maserasi melalui pengadukan secara berkesinambungan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan M-MS dalam proses ekstraksi senyawa bahan alam. Parameter yang digunakan yaitu persentase zat terekstraksi (% rendemen) dan aktivitas antioksidan (IC50) ekstrak etanol Muntingia calabura (EEMC) menggunakan metode DPPH (2,2-Diphenyl-1-Picrylhydrazil). Pengujian dilakukan terhadap simplisia daun Muntingia calabura yang  dimaserasi selama 24 jam menggunakan etanol 95% dengan maserator konvensional, M-MS dengan laju pengadukan 200 rpm dan 300 rpm. Pengadukan dengan maserator konvensional dilakukan sebanyak 3 kali setiap 8 jam, sedangkan dengan M-MS dilakukan secara kontinyu selama 24 jam. Nilai % rendemen EEMC dari maserator konevnsional, M-MS 200 rpm dan 300 rpm secara berturut-turut adalah 7,6 %, 8,4 % dan 10,2 %. Hasil uji aktivitas antioksidan menghasilkan nilai IC50 EEMC dengan maserator konvensional sebesar 18,19 ppm, M-MS 200 rpm adalah 14,35 ppm dan 300 rpm adalah 7,85 ppm. Nilai IC50 untuk masing-masing uji menunjukan < 50 ppm yang termasuk dalam kategori sangat kuat. Ekstraksi EEMC paling efektif adalah menggunakan M-MS dengan laju pengadukan 300 rpm. The maceration is one of the extraction methods used to extract chemical content from natural compounds. Macerator Magnetic Stirrer (M-MS) is a tool developed to maximize the maceration process through continuous stirring. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using M-MS in the process of extracting natural compounds. The parameters used were the percentage of extracted substance (% yield) and antioxidant activity (IC50) of ethanol extract of Muntingia calabura (EEMC) using the DPPH method (2,2-Diphenyl-1-Picrylhydrazil). Tests were carried out on the simplicia of Muntingia calabura leaves which were macerated for 24 hours using 95% ethanol with a conventional macerator, M-MS with a stirring rate of 200 rpm and 300 rpm. Stirring with a conventional macerator was carried out 3 times every 8 hours, while with M-MS it was done continuously for 24 hours. EEMC yield value respectively of conventional macerator, M-MS at 200 rpm and 300 rpm showed 7.6 %, 8.4% and 10.2 %. The results of the antioxidant activity test resulted in the IC50 EEMC value with a conventional macerator is 18.19 ppm, M-MS 200 rpm is 14.35 ppm and 300 rpm is 7.85 ppm. The IC50 value for each test shows <50 ppm which is included in the very strong category. The most effective EEMC extraction is using M-MS with a stirring rate of 300 rpm.Keywords: maceration, M-MS, EEMC, antioxidant

Wualae (Etlingera elatior (Jack) R.M Smith) is one of the plants in the Zingiberaceae family, widely used in medicine ranging from rhizomes, fruits, and flowers. Empirically Wualae are usually used by people for treating skin diseases, flavoring food, a natural soap, and in Southeast Sulawesi, it is used to treat typhoid fever. This study aims to examine the antioxidant activity of Wualae (Etlingera elatior) plant. The plant extracts were extracted by maceration method, antioxidant activity test was performed by 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method. The results showed that ethanol extracts of fruits, leaves, stems and rhizomes of Wualae (Etlingera elatior) has the potential antioxidant activity with the IC50 values of 72.518 mg/L, 99.890 mg/L, 52.345 mg/L and 58.638 mg/L, respectively. and Vitamin C has IC50 value of 3,787 mg/L.

ABSTRACTDayak onion plant (Eleutherine americana Merr.) or commonly called forest onion is a typical plant of Central Kalimantan that has been used by local peoples for cure a various types of diseases. This study aims to determine the activity of antioxidant compounds from Dayak bulb ethanol extracts from Kotamobagu City. This research method is an experimental laboratory. Initially the Dayak bulb sample was extracted maceration with 96% ethanol solvent then evaporated until a thick extract was obtained. As a parameter, the DPPH method (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) was used to test the antioxidant activity of the samples at concentrations of 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90 mg / L and as a comparison standard used Vitamin C with concentrations of 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 mg / L. The results obtained showed antioxidant activity in Dayak bulb ethanol extracts with IC50 values of 41.46 mg / L and on vitamin C IC50 values of 1.04 mg / L. Based on these results it can be concluded that the onion bulb ethanol extract has very strong antioxidant activity. Keywords: Dayak Onion bulbs, Activity, Antioxidant, DPPH  ABSTRAK Tanaman bawang Dayak (Eleutherine americana Merr.) atau biasa disebut bawang hutan merupakan tanaman khas Kalimantan Tengah yang sudah dipergunakan masyarakat lokal sebagai obat berbagai jenis penyakit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas senyawa antioksidan dari ekstrak etanol bulbus bawang Dayak yang berasal dari Kota Kotamobagu. Metode penelitian ini adalah eksperimental laboratorium. Awalnya sampel bulbus bawang Dayak diekstraksi maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96% kemudian dievaporasi hingga didapatkan ekstrak kental. Sebagai parameter, digunakan metode DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) untuk pengujian aktivitas antioksidan sampel pada konsentrasi 50, 60, 70, 80 dan 90 mg/L dan sebagai standar pembanding digunakan Vitamin C dengan konsentrasi 2, 4, 6, 8 dan 10 mg/L. Hasil penelitian yang didapat menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan pada ekstrak etanol bulbus bawang Dayak dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 41,46 mg/L dan pada vitamin C nilai IC50 sebesar 1,04 mg/L. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol bulbus bawang Dayak memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang sangat kuat. Kata kunci: Bulbus Bawang Dayak, Aktivitas, Antioksidan, DPPH
