The text focuses on the topic of the Battle of the White Mountain in Czech historiography. The topic of the White Mountain has been often discussed in Czech historiography and has also been popular in public. My point of view is the interaction between national traditions, new facts, social changes and historians. My intention is not to question the interpretations that have been made until today, but to understand them in the context of time of their origin.

There have been a lot of studies on the history and development of Islamic education in Indonesia conducted by various groups. At least, there are three important aspects that should be noted in this study. First, from the aspect of the region, the history of Islamic education in South Sumatera which has never been comprehensively studied since the colonial era. Second, related to theoretical assumption, the question of whether the development of the system and the modern Islamic institution in Palembang during colonial era tend to be dominated by Muslim reformers or Muslim traditionalists. Third, from the point of view of methodology which tends to be descriptive and chronological, though recently there arises an analytical approach in which the system and the institution are not seen as things that can stand on their own, but are attached to social, religious, cultural, and political aspects. It is this approach which will be used in this study. Therefore, this study will try to look into the relationship between various social changes in Palembang and the system and Islamic educational institutions in the colonial era.

It is argued in this article that a study on the law reform of a country is the study which related to understanding of a scientific paradigm which made up of the basic idea of a country’s legal system. The main argument in this article is that the basic idea ofma legalmrefom on a legal system must be build upon the enforcement of the juridical principles found and developed in the system. This is derived from a postulate of the Dignified Justice teory perspective. In this view legal virtues underpinning a legal system are examined together as one system of principles and rules or a legal system. Philosophically, or it is a theoretical and a paradigm that law is believed as inseparable from the legal science itself. This philosophy has been developed to make a correction to the sociological jurisprudence perspective, which mainly argued that each occurence of social changes in a legal system cannot be answered by regulation alone. The sociological jurisprudence point of view argues that law is confined to the status quo of a society. Many has argued that this sociological indicative has occurred in many civil law systems, in particular Indonesia, to be used as its best prototype. In the Indonesian legal system, law is positioned as rules and regulations made by the legislative branch of the government. In this perspective laws has been excluded from humanity almost altogether. This article argues that Pancasila as the Indonesia Legal System is the way to solve this problem. Since Pancasila is used as the basis of the State and the source of all legal sources. For this reason, it is interesting to examine how the Pancasila actually became a basis of values in initiating the project of law reform in Indonesia.

Our aim is to analyze different representational forms of gay ageing by old gays. We will draw on aspects related to various theoretical viewpoints and enhance them by presenting empirical evidence with a critical approach. Thus, we will delve into the theory of competence in crisis, some theories of adjustment and resilience, the theory of fast aging, and last, the theory of minority stress. Our reflection is focused on aging experienced by gays who have witnessed social changes as from the 70s, taking into account they represent a turning point in gay subjectivity formed by contrasting representational repertoires, some deriving from an old homosexuality pattern in which they socialized primarily and others from the gay model fostered, generically, after the Stonewall uprising. From the methodological point of view, the texts of the authors considered representative of the theories mentioned are crossed. Then, each was busy trying to point out their particular strengths and limitations providing primary data (interviews) and secondary (statistics on perceptions and interviews). In conclusion, it is noted that there have been contrasting situations in the aging process based on heterogeneous analysis variables, including: sexual identity, the scene of identity (areas of healthcare are clearly regressive to show the gay identity) and, among others, by the features that subjects allocated to institutional environments within which developed his biography.

The article analyzes two approaches to explaining the American Revolution. The first belongs to Irina Zhezhko-Brown, who in her works examines the features and formation of social technologies created by the left in the United States, their application in the struggle for power, the transformation of the consciousness and behavior of social subjects, the emasculation of the original democratic principles and other social processes. Vadim Rozin, being not only a methodologist, but also a culturologist, outlines another explanation - culturological. At the same time, he puts forward a hypothesis according to which modernity is a complex double process of a parallel crisis of the culture of modernity and the emergence of “postculture”, which for the time being is manifested for researchers in the trends of sociality. The author of the article considers it necessary to consider the American Revolution by combining both approaches (from the point of view of social sciences and cultural studies), that is, to implement a sociocultural approach and discourse. For this, he first characterizes the social and cultural approaches separately. If the selection and characterization of culture presupposes procedures for comparing different cultures, analysis of the integrity of culture and an invariant vision of the world, then sociality is set by the processes of directed social change, management and power. Then, relying on the material of the reconstruction of the modern American revolution, which was proposed by I. Zhezhko-Brown, the author outlines a sociocultural explanation. In particular, he claims that the successes of the quiet and invisible for many “step-by-step American revolution” can be explained not only by effective social technology and the connivance of the ruling class, but also by the fact that guided social changes are taking place against the background of parallel processes of the completion of modernity and the formation of post-culture.

In the conditions of social changes and economic modernization special attention should be paid to operation and development of the service industry as its degree of development mainly defines the rate of employment, living environment, and the level of life in the country. Estimation and management of the service sector from the operational point of view is performed with the help of principles of classification of business entities and peer grouping. This approach enables us to apply holistic analysis to functioning system and to take justified decisions. At present, all service entities based on the territory of the Russian Federation can be grouped according to the following characteristics: type of industry, economic activity, organizational and legal form, form of ownership, sector of economy, and location.

The main problem of that article is effectiveness / ineffectiveness of an axiological system of the sustainable development as the base of a program of activities taken in individual and social-political scale. The problem was presented from the view of Alain Badiou’s ethics, which is a trial of overcoming weaknesses of the contemporary ethics of the mainstream, especially very low effectiveness of the ethics in the sphere of social practice. For developing the title problem there was applied the critique of contemporary ethics as the ethics of consensus, conducted by Badiou. Established research prospect has a limited application. It allows exclusively and only for drawing a conclusions in the matter of possible usability of the ethics of sustainable development in the activities leading to the change of dominant stereotypes of thinking and standards of conduct nowadays. From the point of view of Badiou’s ethics this is the first, but necessary step on the way to answer a following question – does the ethic of sustainable development have actual causative power and is it effective in initiating and performing social changes?

A significant expansion of female education for the representatives of different classes was a progressive phenomenon of the “great reforms” of Emperor Alexander II. Against the background of social changes in Russia, women thus received additional opportunities for their socialization and work. The study of the use of female education as a social lift is of interest from the point of view of the history of social modernization. The study aims to study the experience of using female education as a social lift on the example of the Tver province of the Russian Empire. The study uses a set of methods of female and gender history and the local history approach, which collectively make it possible to focus on the regional specifics of the modernization of the female education system in the context of the individual’s everyday practices within the framework of an interdisciplinary field. Published statistical data are involved in the research; unpublished documents from the funds of regional archives are also introduced into scientific circulation. The novelty of the article lies in the recreation of the practices of using female education as a social lift in the second half of the 19th – early 20th centuries using the example of the Tver province. Various levels and forms of female education in Russia in the era of “great reforms” and the period that followed them have been studied. The mechanisms of socialization of Russian women of different classes are revealed, depending on the level of education received.

This article discusses Abdullah Saeed's thought on contextual exegesis of the Quran. The background of Abdullah Saeed's thought on the importance of conducting contextual exegesis was based on the solid domination of literal (textual) commentary of the Quran, particularly regarding ethics-legal verses. Based on Saeed's point of view, ethic-legal verses commentary must account for social changes to support the close relationship between Quran and the current Muslims. Several intellectual figures influenced Abdullah Saeed's thoughts related to contextual exegeses, such as Fazlur Rahman, Ghulam Ahmad Parvez, Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd, Mohammed Arkoun, Farid Esack, and Khaled Abou El Fadl. The theoretical foundations of the Quran contextual exegesis proposed by Abdullah Saeed can be traced back through his notion on revelation concept, the flexibility of meaning, and text meaning as a commentary.

English The article considers the normative dimension of female gender stereotypes, underscoring the prescriptive and self-prescriptive power they contain. Particularly highlighted, from the social psychological point of view, is the recurring reproduction (even by women) of expectations of an intra-gender homogeneity based on a traditional female role. Emphasis is put on how this tendency to refuse to recognize intra-gender differences - often evident in job contexts - may contribute to conserving the power imbalances existing between men and women, and to sustaining women's systematic relegation to 'second place' in the workplace. As an example, the article contains some free quotations relating to the qualitative analysis made of women's discursive productions collected in a wider research project on the relation between gender and science. These aspects of stereotypic self- and other-perception - and the social expectations deriving from them - are also discussed in the light of the sociological approach to gender identity, and in their relations to practices and to ongoing social changes.
