Abstract Structural changes taking place in national and regional economy may vary across nations and regions, causing socio-economic differentiation. This research is focused on analysis of the employment structure, its changes and influence on the level of social welfare, and its deepening of economic disparities between Latvian regions. We apply a comparative statistical analysis based on two tools: the Location Quotient and shift-share analysis, using official Latvian statistical data on employment and income with a breakdown by ten groups of economic activities for the period from 2008 to 2016. The obtained results indicate that the changes in the employment structure during the studied period had a noticeable impact on regional differentiation in Latvia. The authors have discovered that although employment concentration varies across Latvian regions, it remains remarkably stable over time, with occasional re-employment shifts occurring not always in the direction of industries providing higher income, which causes further regional socio-economic differentiation in Latvia.

The paper considers the directions of development of the region of the forestry sector of low-forest use on the example of the Voronezh region, highlights the factors and conditions for sustainable development and regional forest policy, principles, principles of compatibility of the compatibility of the use of forest resources in one area. It is emphasized that for sparsely wooded regions it is advisable to conduct economic activities within the framework of public-private partnerships associated with ensuring the protection and protection of forests, afforestation and reforestation, that is, activities related to the creation of a resource region. It is noted that the non-resource use of forests due to the disclosure of the recreational potential of the territory contributes not only to the development of the regional economy, but also satisfies the population's need for recreation, allowing to restore the lost working capacity. Forest plots from the lands of the forest fund of the Voronezh region in 2018-2020 were provided for permanent (unlimited) use, rent, free fixed-term use. The analysis showed an increase in the number of contracts for the implementation of recreational activities, construction, reconstruction, operation of linear objects, as well as hunting. With the aim of a balanced use of forest resources, taking into account the impact on the development of the regional economy, the criteria for choosing a priority direction of forest use were determined.

Targeted allocation of EU support in Lithuania can help resolving a number of problems and achieving significant results in a variety of areas. However, rush to absorb support may lead to a little, zero or even negative impact on national economy. In addition, EU support opportunities may distort investment motivation. This paper deals with issues related to the impact of EU support and problems of its absorption. The impact of EU support on the national economy has been established in three areas: attraction of foreign direct investment state investments into capital formation, and experience of companies, which are EU support beneficiaries. The paper proposes using regression analysis in search and evaluation of relations while obtaining more information about programmes, priorities and the impact of structural support on different indicators. In addition, it focuses on ascertaining the effectiveness of governmental and company spending. Furthermore, as companies – EU support beneficiaries – are engaged in different economic activities, their experience cannot be ascertained from statistical data; consequently, findings of an expert survey are presented to demonstrate the experience acquired by business companies as well as problems they face. Limitation of research was a short period of time to evaluate (only four years of the current funding period)

The relevance of the research topic is determined by the need to assess structural changes in the territorial and sectoral structure, as well as factors affecting the competitiveness of the regional economy. The article presents the results of calculations of structural changes in the economy of the Novosibirsk region for the period from 2000 to 2016 using the method of "shift-share analysis". The method allows to assess the degree of influence of three groups of factors (national, regional and internal competitiveness of the regional industries) on changes in the regional economy. The article presents the results of calculations of the growth rates employed in certain sectors of the Novosibirsk region by types of economic activity for the period from 2000 to 2016, as well as indicators of the MIX-effect (composition) and DIF-effect (competition). Based on the assessment of structural changes, the types of economic activities that demonstrate the highest indicators of industry competitiveness are determined.

Polyethylene (PE) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) are used in many areas of human activity, in the production of various goods, which is carried out mainly on the basis of imported raw materials. This production is almost entirely focused on the domestic consumption, and the pricing policy directly depends on customs duties and taxes. On the Ukrainian market are presented imported fabricated products with uprated specification, in particular, pipe products made of polymeric materials. The article is aimed at studying the volumes and structure of export-import operations of Ukraine in terms of the group «Polymeric materials, plastics and products from them», identifying problems and prospects of Ukrainian producers of pipe products and their participation in foreign economic activities. The analysis of structural changes in volumes and balance of the foreign trade in goods and services of Ukraine in dynamics is carried out; the volume of export-import operations in goods is determined; averages for the period are computed. The participation of Ukrainian enterprises in the implementation of foreign economic activities is characterized, including: quantity, regional placement in the territory of the country, the average volume of operations. The volumes and dynamics of export-import operations in the group 39 «Plastics, polymeric materials», both the commodity and the geographical structure are analyzed. The authors consider the main producers of fabricated polymer-pipe products together with the producers of domestic raw materials, their proportion in the sale of goods in the foreign market; the suppliers of imported raw materials and the impact of changes in customs tariffs and fees on prices. The range of average export-import prices for 1 kg of polyethylene pipes for the top five countries is calculated. Market problems are identified and the relevant recommendations are made.

The article provides an economic and statistical review of the structural changes in the economy of the Amur Region from 2004 to 2016. An analysis of regional statistics on the industrial structure of gross value added (GVA) over the period under review allowed the author to identify quantitative parameters identifying economic activities that determine the characteristics of the modern economy of the region, and those that have not been developed.Based on statistical calculations, it was concluded that leading economic activities in the Amur Region are «Transport and Communication», «Mining and quarrying», «Wholesale and retail trade».The primary objective of the study was to determine the degree of intensity of structural shifts in the regional economy and identify the main trends of its development. The «absolute» gains and growth factors of the relative structural components of the GVA for the Amur Region for the period under review were calculated to characterize these structural changes.According to the author, the calculations indicate the absence of a positive transformation in the structure of the regional economy. Thus, the intensive development of the commodity sectors of the economy continues, and the low growth rates of the manufacturing industries are noted. To carry out a summary assessment of structural changes in the regional economy, the author has calculated the linear and quadratic coefficients of the «absolute» structural changes. The results provide an opportunity to more accurately identify critical areas for investment, as well as support those economic activities that will allow the region to maximize its potential benefits.

Abstract Subject and purpose of work: The objectives of the elaboration are the following: 1) to analyze the regional changes (at the level of poviats) in the number of farms involved in milk production over the period 2002-2010; 2) to present the main factors affecting the ongoing changes in Polish farms oriented at milk production; 3) to determine the impact of the measure 121. “Modernization of agricultural holdings” under the RDP 2007-2013 and the applied system of direct subsidies for the development of farms oriented at milk production. Materials and methods: The work has been prepared on the basis of the analysis and synthesis of the source literature, statistical data collected and the author’s own reflections. Results: In Poland, in the years 2002-2010 there was a distinct regional differentiation in the pace of the ongoing changes in the dairy sector. The regions, where we observe the development of milk production, include almost the entire Podlaskie Province, the northern part of the Mazowieckie Province and the south-eastern part of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Province. Conclusions: Within the RDP 2007-2013, significant funds were allocated to support the modernization of agricultural farms. Mainly under the measure 121 “Modernization of agricultural holdings” the investments were carried out in relation to the purchase of mobile equipment, they represented 89% of all investments. This was partly due to the actual demand and administrative procedures that stimulated these types of investments.

Arthur Lewis's structural change theory focused on the development shows the process of change which occurs from the traditional economic society towards the industrial economic society. The development of traditional economies in the countryside into the industrial economy in urban areas has a serious impact on equitable distribution of ongoing economic development. The villagers initially worked in the agricultural sector moved to the city then due to an absorption of labor in the industrial sector. Massive urbanization is a serious impact caused by this change, so that there is a vacant labor force in the countryside and an increase in unemployment in urban areas. The problem caused by structural changes in economic development can be overcome by the local wisdom approach of the local community. In this paper, the case is taken in Pariaman community especially the Tabuik ceremony as an annual routine. Tabuik in Pariaman requires that the community remaining in Pariaman and undergo a routine as an agricultural community because there are many special needs and rituals requiring ceremonial materials from the agricultural field. The local wisdom of people in Pariaman is not involved in significant urbanization cases. Tabuik as a control the flow of globalization makes the community and economic activities manageable as of the development in Pariaman with traditional agricultural economic models and adequate labor naturally.

By estimating the impact of tourism on different economic and non-economic activities in national, as well as regional economy, most of the authors have tried to offer some models (and theoretical paradigms) but none successfully applicable in practice has been discovered by now. The very divergence between theory and its application in practice is the reason of this dispute and in this case limited only to the three known theories/methods ("Tourist Multiplier", "Cost-Benefit methode", and "Tourism Satellite Account - TSA") with the outstanding cash/divergence that as theoretical conception and methods can harly be followed or applied in practice.

Subject. The article addresses the intra-regional heterogeneity as a pattern of economic development, which is of great practical importance. Objectives. We analyze the socioeconomic development of the territories of the Orel Oblast and the result-based management on the basis of eliminating the socio-economic disparities. Methods. The paper employs methods of cluster analysis. Results. We assess the socioeconomic development of the Orel Oblast through the formation of clusters. Particular attention is paid to prevailing differences between the regional center and other municipalities. Conclusions. Intra-regional heterogeneity leads to a deformation of the structure of the regional economy and affects its efficiency, as well as the strategy and tactics of institutional transformations. It is crucial to develop inter-municipal cooperation that promotes the development of territories. Measures that are weakening the territorial heterogeneity include the reduction of administrative barriers, improvement of the management of investment processes, and transparency of business cooperation.
