Ecological field techniques such as transect surveys are long-used, integral means of immersing students in field exercises to illustrate ecological measures. Many species of crayfish create conspicuous burrows within or near aquatic habitats. Such burrows can easily be identified and measured by students during an ecological field exercise. In this article, we describe a field activity we developed as part of a college-level course in which students utilized transects and calipers to collect counts and measurements of crayfish burrows in order to evaluate their distribution and size among different substratum types along a small stream. This field exercise could be incorporated, with or without modification, into an applicable high school or introductory/intermediate college biology course as a means of illustrating ecological concepts, sampling technique, and/or behavioral biology.

Academic achievement is often considered as a key criterion to judge one's total potentialities and capabilities. Academic achievement has become a prime interest for the teachers, educationists, psychologists and parents to predict children's academic success which is considered to be an outcome of the learning environment and the family. The present study aimed at seeking the level of academic achievement of female students at the college level with respect to their family environment and locale. Random Sampling Technique was applied to draw the sample of 200 female students studying in the five-degree colleges of Jammu City (J&K) in the year 2015. Family Environment Scale (FES-BC) by Bhatia and Chadha (2012) was used for data collection. This tool has eight dimensions-Cohesion, Expressiveness, Conflict, Acceptance and Caring, Independence, Active-Recreational Orientation, Organisation and Control. The findings revealed that most of the female students were having an average level of academic achievement. Very few female students were found to have a high level of academic achievement. No significant differences in the level of academic achievement were found among female students in relation to their residential background, whereas significant differences were found in the family environment of female students with respect to the locality at the sub-scale “Acceptance and Caring” and “Active Recreational Orientation”. The value of the coefficient of correlation was found to be low, positive but significant at the 0.01 level of significance at the sub-scale “Cohesion” of Family Environment Scale. It shows that academic achievement and cohesion in the family are positively related with each other, however, the correlation is low.

Present study aims to find out challenges faced by the language teachers and their adaptability towards online teaching during COVID pandemic.  The researcher used descriptive survey method. The sample of the study included 51 language teachers teaching at college level in the state of Maharashtra. The sampling technique used was snowballing through known contacts.  The tool used was questionnaire. Data was analysed through descriptive and inferential statistical techniques such percentage, mean, standard deviation, graphical representation and ‘t’ test. The findings of the study revealed that there is significant difference between the challenges faced by urban and rural language teachers. But no significant difference was found among urban and rural language teachers in adaptability towards virtual classroom teaching. Though teachers tried to adapt to online teaching voluntarily, proper training in the use of e-learning platforms, apt digital tools for language development and development of new skill set are recommended to adapt to the new normal effectively.

This activity provides students an interactive demonstration of the electron transport chain and chemiosmosis during aerobic respiration. Students use simple, everyday objects as hydrogen ions and electrons and play the roles of the various proteins embedded in the inner mitochondrial membrane to show how this specific process in cellular respiration produces ATP. The activity works best as a supplement after you have already discussed the electron transport chain in lecture but can be used prior to instruction to help students visualize the processes that occur. This demonstration was designed for general college biology for majors at a community college, but it could be used in any introductory college-level or advanced placement biology course.

Abstract Background There are limited data on the use of contraception by Thai Muslim women. Objectives To compare and explore the knowledge, attitudes toward, and practices (KAP) of contraception between Thai Muslim women living in Bangkok and those living in the Southernmost provinces. Variables associated with KAP were also examined. Methods This was a community-based cross-sectional study, which was conducted in the Muslim communities in Bangkok and those in the southernmost provinces of Thailand including Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat. A multistage, cluster sampling technique was used to identify participants. Only literate Thai Muslim women who lived in their hometown, and aged between 15–49 years were included in the analysis. A self-administered questionnaire was used to assess participants’ KAP of contraception. Results Data from 423 participants were analyzed. Knowledge and attitude scores between the two groups were comparable. A higher proportion of women from the southernmost provinces used contraceptives. However, when a multivariate regression model was used to adjust for other variables, women’s geographical residence was not associated with higher knowledge and attitude scores, or contraceptive practices. College-level education and higher income level were independent factors associated with contraceptive knowledge. A higher knowledge score was independently related to a positive attitude towards contraception. Only number of children and income level were independently associated with contraceptive practices. Conclusions For Thai Muslim women, geographical residence was not significantly associated with KAP of contraception. The educational level, income level, and number of children of the women played major roles in KAP of contraception.

`Sports and Games in the Government colleges of different districts ( Mianwali & Layyah) of southern Punjab have been on the significant decline especially in female folk. Objective of this research was to analyze the allocation and utilization of sports funds for female sports development at college level. Finance allocation and utilization are the pivots around which the particular study revolved. A sample of 34, LPEs (17) and senior clerks (17) working in government colleges for women were selected by using a convenient sampling technique. Two self-developed on 3-point Likert type scale consisting of 19 and 10 items were used for collecting the data. One for senior clerks and 2nd for lecturers in Physical Education (LPEs). The obtained data was analyzed by using one sample T-test. The study results found that the sports funds allocation as per the listed pupils in different five years was depicted enough to some extent while the allocated amount does not utilize properly for the promotion of college sports. So it was recommended that the college principals should be trained in the arena of fiscal management and use the allocated sports funds for the promotion of female sports only.
