One of the greatest predictors of happiness is the satisfaction with interpersonal relationships. The basis of development of interpersonal relationships is trust. At the same time, trust is preconditioned by history and culture and has national characteristics. In Russia during the 1990s the social psychological phenomenon «trust deficit» of the population was formed, that was manifested in every sphere of life. Today the generation that grew up in that atmosphere of «trust deficit» has reached the college-student age. In this article the results of the study of correlation of happiness and self-trust, trust to other people and to the world, and with such personal characteristic as gullibility are presented. A hundred students (23 male and 77 female) aged 18 to 22 took part in the study. The following diagnostic tools were used: «Update Oxford happiness questionnaire»; «Cattel 16PF questionnaire (factor L «Vigilance»)»; A.B. Kupreichenko method «Study of trustiness/untrustiness of a person towards the world, the people, themselves»; A.B Kupreichenko method «Measure of trustiness/untrustiness of a person towards other people». The study revealed significant positive correlation of happiness and self-trust, with such personal characteristic as gullibility, and negative correlation with the trust towards the world. The students who are more self-reliant, who rely on their own resources and don’t rely on the help from the outside world appear to be happier.

ABSTRAK Realitas sosial tidak hanya terjadi di dunia nyata, tetapi juga tergambar dalam karya sastra. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui realitas sosial dalam novel Laut Bercerita karya Leila S. Chudori dan mengetahui pandangan dunia pengarang dalam novel mengenai realitas sosial yang dikaji melalui analisis strukturalisme genetik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode dialektik dari Lucien Goldmann. Dari hasil penelitian, ditemukan realitas sosial dalam novel melalui hubungan antartokoh dalam novel serta hubungan tokoh dengan objek yang ada di sekitarnya. Selain itu, terdapat fakta yang berkait dengan realitas sosial dalam novel. Pandangan dunia yang ditemukan dalam novel tersebut yaitu, pengarang menentang keotoriteran rezim Orde Baru yang sewenang-wenang, mengecam penghilangan paksa dan mendukung HAM, serta mengkritik pemerintah yang lambat dalam menyelesaikan kasus hilangnya aktivis. Kata kunci: realitas, sosial, strukturalisme genetik, Laut Bercerita ABSTRACT Social reality does not only occur in the real world, but also illustrated in literature. This study aims to determine the social reality in the novel Laut Bercerita by Leila S. Chudori and find out the world view of the author in the novel regarding the social reality studied through analysis of genetic structuralism. This study uses a qualitative approach with the dialectical method of Lucien Goldmann. From the results of the study, found social reality in the novel through interpersonal relationships in the novel and the relationship of characters to the objects around them. In addition, there are facts that relate to social reality in the novel. The world view found in the novel, namely, the author opposed the arbitrary authorization of the New Order regime, condemned enforced disappearances and supported human rights, and criticized the government which was slow in resolving cases of activist disappearances. Children, brought up in foster families, experience various problems (diffi culties in interpersonal relationships with parents, diffi culties in communicating with peers, emotional instability), which lead to confl icts, quarrels, running away from home, destructive phenomena, etc. One of the eff ective forms of working with children brought up in foster families is individual counselling. Individual counselling is used by various specialists (psychologists, educators, psychotherapists), where a special place is taken by a social educator. His or her activity involves the implementation of social-protective, preventive, educational, informational, advisory functions. In the process of organizing individual counseling, the social educator takes into account the social situation of the family and the child, personal characteristics, social conditions, social and cultural characteristics and the nature of the relationship with the social environment. To organize individual counseling, a social educator needs to master various and eff ective techniques, and take into account a number of recommendations. An analysis of the literature and practical socio-pedagogical experience led to an understanding of the insuffi cient degree of elaboration of this issue. The purpose of this article was the solution to this problem.

Our own prior research has demonstrated that respect for disapproved others predicts and might foster tolerance toward them. This means that without giving up their disapproval of others’ way of life, people can tolerate others when they respect them as equals (outgroup respect–tolerance hypothesis). Still, there was considerable variation in the study features. Moreover, the studies are part of a larger research project that affords many additional tests of our hypothesis. To achieve integration along with a more robust understanding of the relation between respect and tolerance, we (re)analyzed all existing data from this project, and we synthesized the results with the help of meta-analytic techniques. The average standardized regression coefficient, which describes the relationship between respect and tolerance, was 0.25 (95% confidence interval [CI] = [0.16, 0.34]). In addition to this overall confirmation of our hypothesis, the size of this coefficient varied with a number of variables. It was larger for numerical majorities than for minorities, smaller for high-status than for low-status groups, and larger for religious than for life-style groups. These findings should inspire further theory development and spur growth in the social-psychological literature on tolerance.

Climate change is a global environmental issue and its outcome will affect societies around the world. In recent years, we have seen a growing literature on media coverage of climate change, but, to date, no study has assessed the situation in Cameroon, although it is considered to be one of the world’s most affected and vulnerable regions. This study attempted to address this deficit by analysing how climate change is represented in the Cameroonian media. A similarity analysis was performed on three newspapers published in 2013–2016. Results showed that climate coverage focused on politics and international involvement. It seems disconnected from local realities, potentially opening up a spatial and social psychological distance. The relationship between the representation of climate change and that of poverty is an area for further exploration.

A recurring debate within discussions of religion, science, and magic has to do with the existence of distinct modes of thought or “orientations” to the world. The thinker who initiated this debate, Lucien Lévy-Bruhl, distinguished two such orientations, one characterized as “participatory” and the other as “causal.” The present essay attempts to clarify what a participatory orientation might involve, making use of the social-psychological category of a “schema.” It argues that while the attitude to which Lévy-Bruhl refers is to be distinguished from an explicit body of doctrine, it does have a cognitive dimension and can embody causal claims. It follows that if such a distinction is to be made, it is not helpfully characterized as a contrast between participation and causality. A better distinction might be that between a mythical and an experimental attitude to the world.

To explore the relationship between theory and practice in evaluation, we focus on the perspectives and experiences of student evaluators, as they move from the classroom to an engagement with the social, political, and cultural dynamics of evaluation in the field. Through reflective journals, postcourse interviews, and facilitated group discussions, we involve students in critical thinking around the relationship between evaluation theory and practice, which for many was unexpectedly tumultuous and contextually dynamic and complex. In our exploration, we are guided by the following questions: How do novice practitioners navigate between the world of the classroom and the world of practice? What informs their evaluation practice? More specifically, how can we understand the relationship between theory and practice in evaluation? A thematic analysis leads to three interconnected themes. We conclude with implications for thinking about the relationship between theory and practice in evaluation.

The article considered the social, psychological and clinical aspects of domestic violence. Analyzed the main types of violent behavior (economic, psychological, physical, sexual) and the components of the causes of cruel behavior in the family: aggressive behavior, violence, violent behavior. The results of sociological research are presented, the prevalence, causes, aims and types of this phenomenon in Ukraine and in the world are determined. The sociological and cultural concepts of the features of the spread of the phenomenon of violence in families are considered. The stages of the formation of violent behavior in families are analyzed. The features of neurotic disorders and their prevalence among people who have experienced domestic violence are considered.

The world of the 21st century provides an intriguing space for academic reflection, offering new challenges and stimulating new concepts of international relations. In this context there emerges the significant question of the essence and direction of these concepts. They may entail deconstruction followed by a reconstruction of the research space in this field. Astrategy of resetting cannot be excluded here, either. Assuming that reconstruction is the appropriate solution there are significant issues of its scope and direction. If a total reset is considered rational we need to address the issue of what it should involve. This is a difficult question for researchers into international relations because it would mean that the hitherto achievements of this subject are being questioned. The post-positivist approach of numerous researchers, which manifests their response to the positivist methodology in the field of international relations, has not so far produced a unified methodological formula or a relatively coherent theory of international relations. Questions concerning the function of science, the nature of the social world (ontology) and the relationship between knowledge and the world (epistemology) remain open. Therefore, it may be worth going back to M. Wight’s provocative thesis that it is impossible to construct a reasonable theory of international relations, mainly owing to the dichotomy of the two fields of research that – in his opinion – cannot be overcome, namely the dichotomy of the ‘international’ (the realm of external affairs of states) and ‘internal’ (the realm of internal affairs within state), which are mutually exclusive because of their specificity; and once again ask the questions of how sensible the thesis of the dichotomy of both these environments is in a world that is strongly conditioned by the cross-border actors, interdependence and globalization. While the separateness of the ‘internal’ and ‘external’ state environments was, for Wight, an important obstacle, making it impossible to construct an academic theory explaining international relations, at the same time the current theory regarding their exclusivity in the context of the internalization of international affairs and the externalization of conditions inside states seems unsustainable. This phenomenon currently allows us to explain the imperative for combining these two environments, overlapping them …breaking down the old, established orders as a result of the now clearly visible phenomena and processes of the ‘internal state’ merging into the ‘international environment’ and vice versa, the disappearance of the traditional functions of borders, the weakening of old institutions and structures for steering the international environment as well as replacing them with entirely new institutions and structures.

ABSTRACTSocial skills of children aged 5-6 years is part of the maturation of social development of children in the transition from pre operational entering a concrete operational period. The ability of children aged 5-6 years in social skills can be seen from the behaviors that can be achieved in the child's ability to build interpersonal relationships and intrapersonal relationships. This research was conducted in kindergarden which aims to describe social ability of children aged 5-6 years and look for factors that affect the social skill ability of children. Subjects in this study were one of B Group students who had low social skills. This research uses qualitative approach with case study research method. Data collection techniques used in this study are observation, interview and documentation. Instruments in this research use obsevation sheet and interview sheet. From the data collected and then processed to be used as a whole data. Based on the results of research that has been done in Group B Kindergarden related social skills of children aged 5-6 years, this study can be concluded as follows: social skills of children aged 5-6 years in group B TK Aisyiyah 2 Kota Tasikmalaya reach BG criteria ( Beginning to Grow) with the underlying cause of the lack of opportunities to get along with the people around him with different ages and backgrounds, lack of interest and motivation for children, lack of guidance and teaching from others, which is usually a model for children and lack of ability communicate well to the child. ABSTRAKKeterampilan sosial anak usia 5-6 tahun merupakan bagian dari pematangan perkembangan sosial anak dimasa peralihan dari pra operasional memasuki masa operasional konkrit. Kemampuan anak usia 5-6 tahun dalam keterampilan sosial dapat dilihat dari perilaku-perilaku yang dapat dicapai anak dalam kemampuan anak menjalin hubungan interpersonal dan hubungan intrapersonal. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Taman Kanak-Kanak yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan sosial anak usia 5-6 tahun dan mencari faktor yang mempengaruhi kemampuan keterampilan sosial anak. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah salah satu siswa Kelompok B yang memiliki keterampilan sosial rendah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini menggunakan lembar obsevasi dan lembar wawancara. Dari data yang yang terkumpul kemudian diolah untuk dijadikan data yang utuh. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan terkait keterampilan sosial anak usia 5-6 tahun, maka penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan sebagai berikut: keterampilan sosial anak usia 5-6 tahun di kelompok B Taman Kanak-kanak  mencapai kriteria MB (Mulai Berkembang) dengan faktor penyebab kurangnya kurangnya kesempatan untuk bergaul dengan orang-orang yang ada disekitarnya dengan berbagai usia dan latar belakang, kurangnya minat dan motivasi anak untuk bergaul, kurangnya bimbingan dan pengajaran dari orang lain, yang biasanya menjadi model untuk anak dan kurangnya kemampuan berkomunikasi yang baik yang dimiliki oleh anak.

The debate over the relationship of population and development is now more than 200 years old, starting with the treatise on population by Malthus, in 1798. The increase in population, ever since, has remained a matter of concern for economists and development planners. The most recent high point of the issue was witnessed at Cairo in September, 1994. The conference which was attended by more than 10,000 persons from all over the world ended with an agreement on the issues involved in the growth of population and the economy. The outcome was a Plan of Action for the next twenty years, which would concentrate on Reproductive Health in order to obtain, “a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity in all matters relating to the reproductive system and its functions and process”. This can be a turn-around in global efforts for human health and welfare, if properly implemented.
