The article describes a problem of child-parent relationships in emigrants’ families, who moved to Germany for the permanent residency. Do parents, who are raising their children in an unfamiliar cultural environment, have different attitudes towards children in comparison to natives? Are there similar traits in Russian-speaking parents’ attitudes to their children in comparison to those of the German-speaking parents? In order to answer this question, we conducted a flight empirical study based on the research method by E.O. Smirnova and M.V. Sokolova (Bykova). Two groups of participants have taken part in the study. The first group included 30 Russian moms and 1 dad who had children of early and preschool age. The second group included 17 German-speaking parents. It was found that in Russian-speaking families the personal attitude to children dominates. German-speaking parents tend to demonstrate a more emotionally restrained type of attitude; they express their desires and requirements in a more sharp and clear way. In this group the autonomous parenting style prevails. Russian-speaking parents who are raising children in Germany, often use the same styles as parents caring for their preschool children in Russia.

Successful learning process in pre-school requires collaboration between children, educators and parents, whose primary goal is individual understanding of each child to promote his academic performance and personal development as a whole. This paper shows a pre-scientific and theoretical background of self-directed learning in preschool, as well as developed and theoretically substantiated child initiative research method "New friend". Particular attention is given to the promotion of the child's initiative, which is crucial in the process of self-directed learning. The empirical study of children's initiatives shows analysis of collaboration with the parents. A qualitative study reveals pre-school children's initiative promotion opportunities in collaboration with parents, by using research method "New friend".

Sustainability in sports tourism has increased in recent years. Sustainability is a particular focus for diving tourism. This paper analyses the meaning of sustainability to German speaking diving tourists to draw conclusions for the development of tourism strategies. Based on a literature review on the importance of sustainability in diving tourism, an empirical study was designed to understand the importance of the topic within the target group. A total of 174 German-speaking diving tourists were surveyed using an online-questionnaire. The subjects were clustered regarding their sustainable behavior. It could be shown that there is a correlation between age as well as gender and sustainable behavior. A conjoint measurement showed that for diving tourists, ecological aspects are more important than the prize of a diving trip. The gained insights can contribute to establish new and more sustainable offers in diving tourism and thus developing this area of sports tourism more sustainably overall.

Based on current research findings on the possibilities of integration of problem solving into mathematics teaching, the difficulties of pupils with problem solving tasks and of teachers to get started in problem solving, this article would like to show which concrete difficulties delayed the start of the implementation of a generally problem-oriented mathematics lesson in an eighth grade of a grammar school. The article briefly describes the research method of this qualitative study and identifies and discusses the difficulties of problem solving in the examined school class. In a next step, the results of this study are used to conceive a precise teaching concept for this specific class for the introduction into problem-oriented mathematics teaching.

Secondary analysis for quantitative data is a social research method traditionally employed for statistical analysis of administrative data. In the new digital society, this old research method that pre-existed the emergence of the new digital environment has been digitized to carry out its valuable activity in doing science. In this chapter, the secondary analysis for digitized data is illustrated. Thanks to the growing availability of datasets digitized on the web, the scholars of social well-being use the secondary analysis to inquiry this phenomenon through a cross-national perspective. The authors present the empirical study of World Love Index, in which the utility of the secondary analysis in finding and selecting valid indicators of social well-being is experienced.

Choice of address forms, a socially crucial feature in German communication, is context-dependent on situations (a) where the unmarked form of address isdu(T), (b) where it isSie(V), and (c) where the two systems (a and b) coexist. The first two situations are, apart from their fuzzy edges, rather clearcut. The third situation, however, appears anarchic and has a high embarrassment potential. In an empirical study based on 72 interviews conducted in three regions of the German speaking area, the three prototypical situations are explored. A number of potentially conflicting rules and preferences for ambiguity are isolated. These include individual preferences, network preferences and perceptions of social distance, based on factors such as relative age, emotional closeness of interlocutors, and perceived commonalities between them. In spite of the complex interplay of competing rules and preferences and the consequent embarrassment potential, German speakers appear to reject any imposition from outside of a particular address form. This study is part of a larger, Australian-based project comparing the address systems of French, German and Swedish.

The article presents theoretical approaches and an empirical study of the problem of psychological and pedagogical competence of parents of children included in joint education as conditions for the effective implementation of inclusive educational practice. Theoretical approaches to the definition of «psychological and pedagogical competence of parents», its structural components and their content, due to the specifics of joint education of children with different psychophysiological status, are considered. The results of an empirical study of the psychological and pedagogical competence of parents of two groups are presented: parents of children of primary school age with normal psychophysical development and parents of children with disabilities included in joint (inclusive) education. The reliability of the research results is due to the use of a complex of methods of theoretical and empirical research, the representativeness of the sample: 354 parents raising children included in joint education.

AbstractRecent years have witnessed a growing interest in the relationship between academic language registers and school success in the German-speaking education system. However, we still know very little about the actual effects that academic language has on the academic performance of students, for instance, in how far the extent to which academic language is used in subject tasks actually makes these tasks more difficult. It is therefore highly vital that any operationalization of difficulty-inducing linguistic features of tasks is made on solid theoretical and empirical grounds. The purpose of this article is thus to present the linguistic foundation used in an interdisciplinary empirical study in which 1.346 7th and 8th graders solved a set of subject-oriented tasks from Maths, Physics, German, PE and Music, while the degree of linguistic demands in the tasks was systematically varied. First, the theoretical and empirical research on linguistic difficulty from a range of research discourses is discussed. The findings are merged into a model of linguistic demands. Its operationalization is then illustrated in three linguistically varied versions of the subject-specific tasks. Finally, an outlook on preliminary results of the empirical study is given, which indicate that the categories used in the model actually do produce differences in subject-task difficulty, even though there are a number of effects that need further investigation.

The article deals with the problem of value orientations of modern preschoolers. The authors clarify the concepts of «value», «value orientations», define the place of value orientations in the structure of the personality of a preschooler, the role of the teacher in the development of the value system of children.The article describes the empirical study of the value orientations of children of senior preschool age: diagnostic tools are characterized, the procedure of diagnosing is described, and the results are analyzed. The authors indicate the trends in the change of value orientations of children, infer which value orientations are dominate and typical for modern elder preschoolers.The article is intended for public reading and for those who are interested in pedagogical research.

Preschools behavior must be developed since early of children ages. It is believed to affects their further characters. It plays an important role in their habit, building interaction, and character development. Childrens behavior is influenced by the habit which is done by the people around of them, like parent. Hence this study proposes parenting style on preschools prosocial behavior. Those effects are likely varied from home. Participating preschool students (N= 61) during two weeks in January 2017 who had a mean age of 5.14 years. The data were obtained using questionnaire and observation sheet. A quantitative research method was use to collection, analysis and interpretation of data. According to the result, there was not significant positive correlation between authoritative parenting style and preschool prosocial behavior. Accordingly, it can be concluded that there were alternative factors such as teacher-classmates, teacher-child relation, and childrens moods and feelings.
