<p>Vocational education as a part of the National Education system plays a strategic role for the realization of the skilled national labor. Because each vocational graduates is created to become good human resources, in the sense that when they<br />have completed vocational school they able to apply the knowledge. But in fact, the graduates of vocational school is recognized only by itself school and still lack confidence in the business and industrial world. The old model of vocational education has disadvantage, is education model that was conducted unilaterally so that students left behind by the progress of the business/industrial world. Creating creativity and independence of the student is the right answer to avoid<br />dependency and to reduce the unemployment rate. The Awareness of selfdevelopment by enhancing the students' confidence and self-reliance is an important part to prepare for the long-term goal achievement.

The aim of this study is to compare course engagement for vocational education students who enrolled in the Cisco Networking Academy (CNA) courses and who took the network courses from the standard vocational education curriculum in Turkey. The comparison group was established in a way that students in both groups had very similar characteristics. The data were collected using a survey throughout 2 separate school years. The participants are 2793 vocational education students (Cisco Group=1373, Non-Cisco Group=1420). Engagement was measured with 7 constructs, which are active learning, collaborative learning, interaction with instructor, student effort, feedback, satisfaction, and personal development. The instruments were validated through a series of instrument validation steps. First, the original items in the instruments were reviewed by a panel of experts, and then a pilot test was conducted on high school students. A factor analysis was run to identify items grouped under the same construct and unrelated items were removed from the survey. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Independent Samples t Tests after satisfying necessary assumptions. The results indicated that Cisco students in both years of the study scored higher than non-Cisco students in all engagement constructs. All differences were significant between Cisco and non-Cisco students. Comparing within the student groups, Cisco students showed somewhat consistent picture in both years. With the exception of active learning, collaboration, and satisfaction, all measured constructs were in similar scores whereas non-Cisco students showed significant decreases on all engagement constructs. What factors might be influential on engagement and implementations are discussed.

The text brings closer the career (vocational) guidance issues in the context of the vocational education specificity. Liquid modernity, with multidirectional changes occurring at a great speed, and growing requirements of the competitive labour market have become fertile soil for the growth of all sorts of guidance services, i.e. activities that concern the entire human life and treat individuals in a holistic way. Being one of them, the career guidance has travelled a long way undergoing a paradigmatic change of its objectives and tasks and of other aspects, i.e. how a relation with a client starts or what methods are applied. Vocational school students are one of those groups where career structuring is in demand. Being a weak link in Poland’s education system before the economic and political system transformations of 1989, after this date the group actually has started drifting, losing to the growing educational aspirations and the boom of secondary education that opened the door to increasingly popular higher education. Current efforts to restore vocational education need to be coupled with career guidance services that are provided professionally to the present and future vocational school students. Assumptions of these career guidance activities do not seem to differ basically from the general assumptions applied in the holistic guidance, which does not mean that a search for methods suited to this group of young people should be discontinued.

The digital transformation will lead to a reorganization of the occupational world. Educational institutions play an important role in this context, as they train the future workforce. This raises the question of how vocational schools are already responding to changes in the world of work today? Does Artificial Intelligence and automation play a role and if so, which one? These and other questions are addressed in this article based on an online survey of German vocational school teachers. The survey was conducted through the European Taccle AI project.

ABSTRACT In the world view of the nahua population of San Sebastian Tlacotepec, a village localized in the region denominated Sierra Negra in the state of Puebla, the “notion of person” is one of the principals elements necessary to understand the concept of ixtlamatki, “ the one who knows how to see”, ritual specialist in charge of health problems en cases like loss of soul, witchcraft or when the alter ego has been hurt. Beginning with the analysis of his attributes, which define him as special human being, we come closer to understand his function as intermediary between the human world and the “other world”; his power as “soul retriever” and other special abilities, for example, his capacity of transforming himself as well as his faculty to act intentionally in his dreams.
