The purpose of this paper is to explore the collaboration between manufacturer and retailer in shopper marketing strategy for consumer packaged goods (CPG) in Vietnam. The research integrates relevant theories of collaboration in shopper marketing and conducts empirical research through in-depth interviews with managers of CPG manufacturers and retailers of the traditional and modern channel systems. The results show the significant difference about shopper marketing activities and the collaboration between two channels (traditional and modern). The traditional retail system has limited resources and differences in objectives and viewpoints, so it is not willing to cooperate in the implementation of marketing programs in stores. In contrast, modern retailers such as supermarkets and convenience stores show a high commitment to closely working with manufacturers to launch marketing activities in stores.

The main purpose of this article is a brief presentation of the most crucial stages of a research process concerning migration of foreign workers in Greece. The research (within my doctoral studies at Sussex University, Brighton, UK) was undertaken for a period of almost nine months (1995-1996) in Athens, Greece. In this article I present some important dimensions of the multiple methods used (semi-structured interviews with informational questionnaires, in-depth interviews and participant observation) to obtain information and data, mainly on the employment and housing conditions and situations of immigrants in the city, and take the opportunity to critically reflect on that researches methodology and findings today.

This chapter aims to shed light on the significant experiences and challenges that have occurred during a university-funded project, exploring the dynamics of academic employment in the light of gender roles. The data for this mixed methods study comes from a research on Turkish universities, including 505 questionnaires and 46 in-depth interviews with academics from 39 different universities, located in 20 different cities of Turkey. The stratified sample of quantitative research represents the distribution of gender, department, managerial experience, position, and development level of the city, where the universities are located. In-depth interviews are used along with the survey to better understand the nature of academic employment and the implications of quantitative data. This chapter addresses the challenges, such as accessing the universities, ethical and emotional considerations, the effect of Turkish culture, censorship, and the ways that they affect the research process itself and the researchers.

The study is a practice of interdisciplinary method with the aim of introducing the basic idea of topology into the classification of marketing organization structure. Since the topological structure to a certain degree decides the marketing model of enterprises, the establishing of marketing strategy should be based on the topological analysis of marketing organization structure. The reason of introducing the topology classification is presented in the article and a number of typical topological graphs are expressed. The expected outcomes can be used extensively in various organizations in which marketing activities occur (not only profit organization but also nonprofit organization) and provide analysis framework for marketing organization structure and marketing strategy model establishing.

Qualitative interviewing is one of the most widely used methods in social research, but it is arguably the least well understood. To address that gap, this book offers a theoretically rigorous, empirically rich, and user-friendly set of strategies for conceiving and conducting interview-based research. Much more than a how-to manual, the book shows why depth interviewing is an indispensable method for discovering and explaining the social world—shedding light on the hidden patterns and dynamics that take place within institutions, social contexts, relationships, and individual experiences. It offers a step-by-step guide through every stage in the research process, from initially formulating a question to developing arguments and presenting the results. To do this, the book shows how to develop a research question, decide on and find an appropriate sample, construct an interview guide, conduct probing and theoretically focused interviews, and systematically analyze the complex material that depth interviews provide—all in the service of finding and presenting important new empirical discoveries and theoretical insights. The book also lays out the ever-present but rarely discussed challenges that interviewers routinely encounter and then presents grounded, thoughtful ways to respond to them. By addressing the most heated debates about the scientific status of qualitative methods, the book demonstrates how depth interviewing makes unique and essential contributions to the research enterprise. With an emphasis on the integral relationship between carefully crafted research and theory building, the book offers a compelling vision for what the “interviewing imagination” can and should be.

Background: The infant and neonatal mortality rate in Depok City is still high, with low birth weight (LBW) and premature births being one of the main causes. In 2018, 14 out of 41 cases of early neonatal death were due to LBW. Studies show that Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) can prevent or reduce LBW deaths caused by hypothermia, but the implementation is still not evenly distributed. Objective: Describe KMC feasibility as a supporting material for a KMC policy umbrella at Depok City. Method: Qualitative research was conducted with a Rapid Assessment Procedure (RAP) design. A total of 56 informants were divided into 8 discussion groups, 7 in-depth interviews and 2 Focus Group Discussions (FGD). The types of informants were families and inter-sectoral officers. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the data. Results: KMC implementation feasibility in Depok City in terms of facilities and infrastructure was still limited and the quality was insufficient. The number of human resources was still limited, and the competency was still not evenly distributed. LBW family readiness can be maintained if provided with complete and accurate knowledge; therefore, a strong commitment may develop to continue KMC at home. The potential sources of KMC financing are found at health facilities and inter-sectoral; however, to use it, a legal umbrella at the city district level is necessary. Conclusions: The factors of potential financing sources need to be followed up into a priority. This is to overcome the constraints of KMC feasibility implementation.

Abstract Can forgotten stories from the past inform a city’s future? As older adults continue to live longer and comprise more of the population than ever before, the suitability of gentrifying spaces for older adults aging in place is increasingly important. Critical theories of gentrification argue that remembering the experiences of older adults in this context - experiences of suffering, resilience, and structural violence - is essential to promote changes in support aging in place. In this study, we tell a story of individual experiences, structural violence, and aging in the ongoing gentrification of one neighborhood in southwest Atlanta. We construct this narrative through a qualitative analysis of 1,500 local newspaper articles from 1950 to the present day and 10 in-depth interviews with ex-residents of the neighborhood aged 65-87. Drawing on the theory of planetary rent gaps, we frame gentrification as a class struggle between property-owners and working class residents. We highlight the city government’s role as a facilitator for property-owners through projects including the Model City initiative, preparation for the 1996 Olympics, and ongoing development surrounding the Atlanta BeltLine. We show how these projects have affected the prospects for aging in place in general and, specifically, by affecting access to healthcare services. We share this story in an effort to combat the politics of forgetting and to inform a richer, more inclusive, and more equitable future for gentrifying spaces.
