Background : Hypertension is the main risk factors of cardiovascular diseases that cause mortality. One of the risk factors of hypertension is obesity. Purpose: This study aimed to determine the relationship between nutritional status and waist circumference with the incidence of hypertension in the elderly. Methods: This study was observational analytic with cross-sectional design. The sample in this study was a partial of the elderly who participated in the elderly posyandu as many as 271 respondents. The sampling techniques is simple random sampling. Secondary data in the form of the results of the elderly health checkup at the elderly posyandu in the Puskesmas Sidotopo Wetan in 2018. Results: This study showed that of 271 respondents, there were 107 respondents found with hypertension (39.50%). The majority of hypertension was suffered by respondents with overweight nutritional status (46.70%), and waist circumference with the central obesity category (74.80%). Correlation found between nutritional status and the incidence of hypertension in the elderly (p=0.02<α=0.05). Prevalence Ratio of 1.32 means that elderly people with overweight nutritional status have the risk of 1.32 times greater to experience hypertension than elderly with underweight and normal nutritional status (p=0.02; PR=1.32). No correlation found between waist circumference and the incidence of hypertension (p=0.21). Conclusion: Nutritional status significantly associated with the incidence of hypertension in the elderly. However, waist circumference is not significantly associated with the incidence of hypertension.

Background: Hypertension is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease that can lead to death; it is a condition that is related to age, nutritional status and smoking habit. The likelihood of a person being overweight or obese increases every year, and there are still many people who have a smoking habit. Purpose: This study aims to analyze the effect of age, smoking habit and nutritional status on incidences of hypertension in East Java Province. Methods: This was an analytical observational study using a cross-sectional design and employing secondary data derived from the 5th Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS). Data collection was carried out among all household members in East Java who were still at a productive age (15–64 years) making a total of 3,803 respondents. The variables observed were age, gender, nutritional status, smoking habit, physical activity, and consumption of high-fat foods. The data analysis used the chi-squared test and logistic regression. Results: The findings of this study show that there is a relationship between age and nutritional status and the incidence of hypertension. However, there was no significant relationship between smoking habit and the incidence of hypertension. Elderly respondents were shown to have 12 times the risk of developing hypertension than teenage respondents. Conclusion: Age is the dominant factor causing hypertension in East Java Province. Adults and the elderly in East Java Province are expected to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

<p><em>This study aims to understand the relation between energy intake and waist circumference with the risk of T2DM. It was an observational study with a cross-sectional design using secondary data (ethical number, 476/KEP-UNISA/V/2018). Sample collected by simple random sampling. The minimum sample size was calculated using the Fisher formula. In this study, obtained 67 sample with inclusion criteria were not taking drugs to lower blood glucose levels. The independent variable in this study was T2DM risk, while the dependent variable was diet and waist circumference. The normality test of data used Kolmogorov-Smirnov. The Spearman correlation analysis used for knowing the relation between energy intake and waist circumference with blood glucose. The result showed that there was no relation between energy intake and blood glucose (r=0.19; p=0.12). There was no relation between waist circumference and blood glucose (r=0,18; p=0,16). There were 91 % of subjects having a high risk of T2DM and 52.2 % of subjects having a high total cholesterol. There is no relation either energy intake or waist circumference and blood glucose. Almost all subjects have high risk in T2DM.</em></p>

Background: Hiperuricemia  is a risk factor of degenerative diseases and metabolic syndrome. Elevated levels of uric acid are known to be linked with central obesity. Obesity can be determined by anthropometric measurements such as waist circumference, waist-to-height ratio and Body mass index. This study aimed to determine the correlation of waist circumference, waist-to-height ratio and body mass index with uric acid levels in women aged 45-55 years old. Method: This was an observational study with the cross-sectional design. Forty-six subjects were selected using simple random sampling. The measured anthropometric indices were height, weight and waist circumference. Colorimetry method was used to measure blood uric acid levels. Data were analyzed by Fisher exact and Multiple Logistic Regression test.  Result: A total of 19.6% (n=9) subjects had high uric acid levels. These subjects had waist circumferences of over 88 cm (37.5%), waist-to-height ratios that exceed 0.58 (31.6%) and body mass index >25,0 (25%).. There was a significant correlation between waist circumference with uric acid levels, with a prevalence ratio of 5.4 (CI 95% 1.13;25.8). On the contrary, there was no correlation between waist-to-height ratio and body mass index with uric acid levels. Conclusion: There was a significant correlation between waist circumference with uric acid levels. However, no correlation was found between waist to height ratio and body mass index with uric acid levels.

Minimum Standards Service is basic service quality regulation that is entitled to be obtained by every citizen. Elderly people must obtain 100% health services. Various factors can lead to low visits to the elderly posyandu in the Gading Puskesmas area in 2017. Objective: to find out the relationship between family support, knowledge, and elderly activities in the elderly posyandu in Gading Surabaya puskesmas. Method: The type of research is observational analytic with a cross-sectional design. Data processing and analysis is done by univariate and bivariate. Data collection techniques by conducting simple random sampling with a sample of 94 elderly people. Location and time of research from December 2018 at the posyandu in the Gading Surabaya health center area. Results: There is a significant value of 0,000 <0,05, so it can be concluded is have a relationship with family support, knowledge of elderly with activity following the elderly posyandu at Gading Surabaya health center

ABSTRACT Background: Based on RISKESDAS data from 2007, 2013, and 2018, the prevalence of injuries in Indonesia had increased from 7.5%, 8.2%, and 9.2% respectively. In 2018, the proportion of injuries ranked 12th place in morbidity in Indonesia with the highest cases in Central Sulawesi Province (13.8%). This study aimed to determine of injury inci­dents in the productive aged groups in Central Sulawesi. Subjects and Method: This was a cross-sectional design conducted in Central Sulawesi from October 2019 to January 2020. A total of 1,323 reproductive-aged household mem­bers was selected by random sampling method. The dependent variable was the incident of injury. The independent variables were age, gender, level of education, employment status, and nutritional status. The data were collected from secondary data of basic health research data in 2018 with household dan individual questionnaires. Bivariate analysis was performed by chi-square method. Results: The bivariate analysis showed that the incidence of injury among the productive aged groups increased with age (OR= 1.50; 95% CI= 1.10 to 2.05; p= 0.021), gender (OR= 1.29; 95% CI= 1.03 to 1.62; p=0.030), level of education (OR= 2.01; 95% CI= 1.14 to 3.56; p= 0.010), employment status (OR= 1.86; 95% CI= 1.19 to 2.90; p= 0.005), and nutritional status (OR= 0.77; 95% CI= 0.55 to 1.07; p= 0.033). Conclusion: The incidence of injury among the productive aged groups increases with age, gender, level of education, employment status, and nutritional status. AIM: This study aimed to determinate the prevalence of falls in the elderly and its relationship with the functional capacity. METHOD: This is an epidemiological and cross-sectional study; a two-stage cluster sample of 240 male and female subjects aged over 60 years was used. Data were collected from November 2010 to February 2011. The following questionnaires were used: socio-demographic profile, assessment of falls, Functional Independence Measure, Lawton and Brody Scale. Significance was set at 0.05. To identify the occurrence of falls and their relation with functional capacity, the prevalence ratio and prevalence odds ratios were used, as well as multiple logistic regression. RESULTS: Average age was 73.5 years (±8.4); 25% 80 years or more, with preponderance of female gender; 48.8% attended school between 1-4 years. The average was 1.33 falls (±0.472), with prevalence in women and elderly between 60 and 79 years old; the most frequently sites were the backyard and bathroom. Strong correlation between the level of functional independence and instrumental activities and age was found, but no relation between elderly victims of falls and the gender and age variables. CONCLUSION: Women who suffered falls related to functional independence were predominant, which can be prevented through elderly health promotion strategies, a policy that serves to offer living conditions to people in the aging process.

Background: Worldwide the elderly population gradually increasing and that will definitely pose several challenges. Malnutrition is one of the major but neglected problem in elderly. They are at risk of malnutrition due to physical, psychological, social, dietary and environmental risk factors. Malnutrition in elderly is associated with adverse health effects. Hence to study the nutritional status of elderly.Methods: The study was carried out between January 2016- June 2017. 545 elderly were included in the study. Out of the 6 subcentres, 1 subcentre (Uchagaon) was selected by simple random sampling technique and house to house survey was carried out to select eligible elderly participants in the villages of selected subcentre. Data was collected from eligible elderly by using mini nutritional assessment (MNA) tool.Results: Majority of the participants (65.1%) were between the age group of 60-69 years. 55% were females. 23.5% were malnourished, 49% were at risk of malnutrition and 27.5% had normal nutritional status.Conclusions: The present study concluded that majority of the elderly were at risk of malnutrition. There is a need of actions to improve the nutritional status of the elderly.

Background: Hirschsprung-associated enterocolitis (HAEC) is one of the worst and most common complications of Hirschsprung’s disease (HD). The mortality rate of HD patients with enterocolitis is still considered to be higher compared to that of those without enterocolitis. Purpose: This study aimed to identify and evaluate potential risk factors for HAEC development. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted using secondary data from the medical records of HD patients treated from January 2015 to September 2018 at Regional Public Hospital (RSUD) Dr. Soetomo, Surabaya. The inclusion criteria were HD patients who had or had not experienced enterocolitis. The analysis was done by comparing the presence of risk factors between groups of HD patients with and without preoperative and/or postoperative HAEC. The results were presented as the median value and frequency. To evaluate further, a prevalence ratio (PR) with a 95% confidence interval was performed. The Mann–Whitney U test was also performed with a significance level of p < 0.05 for one factor: length of aganglionic intestinal segments. Results: This study showed that 12 of the 40 HD patients studied (30%) had experienced enterocolitis. The risk of developing HAEC was associated with patients who had a history of previous enterocolitis (PR 6.60 [2.94 < PR < 14.80]). Regarding surgical details, patients who had had surgery only once (31.30% compared to 14.30%), surgery with one surgical method (29.40% compared to 20.00%), and a primary procedure had a higher incidence of HAEC (29.40% compared to 27.30%). Conclusion: HD patients with a history of previous enterocolitis were found to have a higher risk of developing HAEC.

ABSTRACTChildren are the ones who are at risk of contracting tuberculosis (TB), but so far it has not been a priority. The proportion of tuberculosis in children case detection remains low among all tuberculosis cases. Bojonegoro is one among regencies in East Java which was appointed as the operational trial tuberculin test. The case detection begins with screening of tuberculosis suspects. Screening of tuberculosis suspected children by health centers officer will determine how much the cases of tuberculosis in children are found in health centers. Health officers at the health centers became the most dominant factor in screening of tuberculosis suspected children. Training about tuberculosis in children was done in 16 health centers among 36 health centers in Bojonegoro. This study aimed to analyze the effect of training to the screening of tuberculosis suspected children by health center officers in Bojonegoro. This study is observational analytic with cross-sectional design. The sampling technique is simple random sampling with respondents consisting of 29 doctors and 29 nurses who are responsible for tuberculosis programs in 29 health centers in Bojonegoro. The variables studied were the training and screening of tuberculosis suspected children. The results showed that screening of tuberculosis suspected children was inappropriate from the target (75.9%) and officers who have not attended the training of tuberculosis in children were 58.6%. Logistic regression test showed that there was effect of training to the screening of tuberculosis suspected children (p = 0.019) and prevalence ratio showed that health officers who was attended the training of tuberculosis in children were able to do the screening of tuberculosis suspected children well 8,50 times greater than those who didn’t. The training for the officers who have not attended the training of tuberculosis in children needs to be done, so that screening of tuberculosis suspected children in Bojonegoro can be optimally implemented.Keywords: screening, suspected, training, tuberculosis, tuberculosis in children

ABSTRACT   This research aims to know the difference between snacking habit and nutritional status of catering and non-catering food consumer in SD-UMP Purwokerto and SDN 2 Dukuhwaluh as well as knowing the corelation between snacking habit and nutritional status in SD UMP Purwokerto and SDN 2 Dukuhwaluh. This research used cross sectional design with thirty eight respondents were collected by Simple Random Sampling method. Snacking habit was obtained by using FFQ. The data were analyzed by using Chi-Square and Mann Whitney analysis. Univariate analysis showed that the snacking habit on catering food consumers was 28.5%, whereas on non-catering food consumers was 76.5%. Bivariate analysis result showed the difference between snacking (p= 0.004) and nutritional status ( p= 0.044) on catering and non-catering food consumers in SD UMP Purwokerto and SDN 2 Dukuhwaluh. There was no corelation between snacking habit and the nutritional status in SD UMP Purwokerto and SDN 2 Dukuhwaluh (p= 0,117) and ( p=0,142). There was difference in snacking habit and nutritional status on students who were catering and non-catering consumers in SD UMP Purwokerto and SDN 2 Dukuhwaluh and there was no corelation between snacking habit and nutritional status in SD UMP Purwokerto and SDN 2 Dukuhwaluh.  Key words: Snacking habit, Nutritional status, catering food, non-catering food.  ABSTRAK Kebiasaan mengonsumsi jajan dapat mempengaruhi status gizi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kebiasaan jajan dan status gizi anak sekolah pengguna katering dan non-katering serta mengetahui hubungan kebiasaan jajan terhadap status gizi di SD UMP Purwokerto dan SDN 2 Dukuhwaluh. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan cross sectional dengan 38 responden dengan metode Simple Random Sampling. Kebiasaan konsumsi jajan diperoleh menggunakan FFQ. Data di analisis menggunakan uji Chi-Square dan uji Mann Whitney. Hasil uji univariat menunjukkan bahwa pada anak sekolah pengguna katering kebiasaan jajan yaitu sebesar 28,5% sedangkan anak sekolah yang non-katering sebesar 76,5%. Hasil uji bivariat menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan kebiasaan jajan ( p = 0,004) dan status gizi ( p= 0,044) pada anak sekolah pengguna katering dan non-katering di SD UMP Purwokerto dan SDN 2 Dukuhwaluh serta tidak terdapat hubungan antara kebiasaan jajan terhadap status gizi di SD UMP Purwokerto dan SDN 2 Dukuhwaluh (p= 0,117) dan (p= 0,142). Terdapat perbedaan kebiasaan konsumsi jajan dan status gizi pada anak sekolah pengguna katering dan non-katering di SD UMP Purwokerto dan SDN 2 Dukuhwaluh serta tidak terdapat hubungan antara kebiasaan mengonsumsi jajan terhadap status gizi di SD UMP Purwokerto dan di SDN 2 Dukuhwaluh.  Kata Kunci: Kebiasaan jajan, Status Gizi, katering, non-katering.
