The study proposed here focuses on the discussion of Rural Education, as well as the theoretical and pedagogical principles that guided the Licentiate Degree in Rural Education courses in the state of Goiás during their implementation. The objective of this work is to present the views of the graduates of the course on the process of their formation and the appropriation of academic and political concepts of Rural Education within the two courses. To achieve the research objectives, theoretical research and documentary research were used and field research. From the application of a questionnaire with open and closed questions that brought elements about the students' perception about their training process in the course and the consequences in their professional performance. The subjectivity of the graduates' views leads us to reflect on the importance of the Licentiate Degree in Rural Education course beyond the university, in view of the advances and setbacks that limit us in the institutional space of Rural Education. Anyway, there is a consensus that training at both universities was able to promote training based on awareness of the role of these students in their communities, being agents of change in their communities.

This special issue wants to honour the memory of Giulio Regeni, a PhD student at the University of Cambridge who was assassinated while he was conducting field research on independent trade unions in Egypt. This introduction and the following articles focus on the theoretical, empirical and methodological questions at the core of Regeni’s research. Unions have traditionally been regarded as crucial for representing the interests of the working class as a whole and for building and sustaining industrial and political democracy; however, there is a debate about the conditions under which unions can be effective, and the role of unions’ internal democracy is particularly controversial. The article discusses the theoretical linkages between trade unions, democratization and union democracy and concludes with a reflection on the new concerns about the risk of conducting field research on these issues raised by Regeni’s death.

the book which was written by Fred. R. Vonder Mehden, an Albert Thomas Professor of Political Science, at Rice University, Houston, is actually a result of efforts to understand the nature of th interrelationship of religion and modernization in Southeast Asia in the light of the theoritical assumptions presented by postwar social  scientists. It is no doubt that where as religions like Islam and Buddhism in countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand have acted both as inhibutors and agents of change, the social science literature spoke primarily to the negative role of rligion from the more possitive perspective. Mehden demonstrates the weakness of the theories developed by Social scientists in Western Europe and the U.S. without adequate field research and embodying major biases and misconceptionabout indigenous cultures and religions.

The Mammal Collection of UENF was created in 2013 to document the biodiversity of northern Rio de Janeiro, and house voucher specimens collected during field research held by professors from the university and collaborating institutions. The collection currently holds 440 physical vouchers, mostly bats, and includes noteworthy records, such as the first Promops nasutus reported for the state of Rio de Janeiro. To these physical vouchers, we recently added a digital bioacoustics collection (343 files of bat distress calls) and a camera-trap multimedia collection (2683 videos or photographs of small to large-sized mammals). In this paper, we provide an overview of these holdings, and highlight and discuss the importance of regional scientific collections, along with the fundamental role of publishing their records in online databases in order to increase their visibility and scientific use. Finally, we discuss the importance of natural history collections to society, emphasizing that improving the awareness of the general public on the role of these collections to scientific development will be crucial for their conservation over the next centuries.

In Latin America, since the first decades of the last century, universities have been agents of change based on student mobilizations, both to reform them and to contribute to the development of society based on demands in favor of freedom, democracy and civil rights. The development of the State is largely explained by professional training universities. The university, without any doubt, plays a preponderant role in the process of understanding itself, in the development of organizations in general and in the environment in which it is inserted. Many are the tasks attributed to him and there are not a few representatives who dare to assign him the role of brain of society. In order for an entity of such nature to be able to adequately fulfill its mission, it must necessarily be well managed, technically projected and appropriately led. Unfortunately, this is not achieved only with good wills and intentions since the fundamental component lies in the ability and knowledge the above characteristics, are mere ingredients or could be in the category of sine qua non.

Relationship between opinions about University teaching and the mentoring role of the University teacher ABSTRACT This research aims to researching opinions that Fourth-year students of Special Education have regarding to the professional performance of the researcher in different teaching fields such as organization and structure of a course, that is to say, whether there is evident sufficient theoretical and conceptual mastery of the subject, whether there is a mediating attitude to generate learning in students.
