The aims of this research are: (1) to find out the type of error of a<strong> </strong>recount text made by the eighth grade students of SMP N in Surakarta; (2) to find out the highest percentage of type of the students‟ errors; (3) to find out the causes of the students‟ errors. This research is descriptive. To collect the data, the researcher uses an essay test in the form of recount text composition made by the eighth grade students. The sample of the research is 24 students of class VIII A. To categorize the type of error, the researcher uses surface strategy taxonomy. The results of this research are: (1) there are four types of errors yielded by the students which are addition error (14.34%) , omission error (29.81%), misformation error (55.10%) and misordering error (0.75%); (2) the highest percentage of type of errors is misformation error with the percentage of (55.10%); (3) there are two causes of errors found from the students‟ writing which are interlingual error with the percentage of 58.49% and intralingual error (41.51%).

Abstract : Ability to Understand the Content of Exposition Texts of Class VIII Students of SMP Negeri 2 Wadaga Barat Muna Regency "This study is important to look back at the ability of students whether they have been able to absorb the material to understand the contents of the exposition text or not. The purpose of this study was to describe the ability to understand the contents of the exposition text of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Wadaga, West Muna Regency. This type of research belongs to school research because researchers go directly to the study site (school) to collect data in accordance with the research problem. The population in this study were all eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Wadaga, West Muna Regency, which consisted of 51 students, spread in 2 classes. And the sample in this study were all eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Wadaga, West Muna Regency. The data collection technique used in this study is a form of written essay test, namely by assigning students to understand the contents of the exposition text that has been read. The results of this study indicate that of the 51 respondents of VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Wadaga, West Muna Regency, there were 39 students (76.47%) in the category of being able to individually understand the contents of the exposition text, and as many as 12 students (23.52 %) is not able to understand the contents of the exposition text. Classically, it can be said that the ability to understand the contents of the exposition text of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Wadaga, West Muna Regency is not yet classically capable. It was said so because the ability of students only reached 76.47% had not yet reached the classical co.Keywords: Ability; Understand; Exposition Text; SMP N 2 Wadaga.

Recount text is one of the texts in writing which must be taught and stated in Junior High School curriculum. Some students felt that reading text is boring because the students tend to be very lazy to read the text, so that they are not interested in English lessons. The researchers used group investigation technique as one of alternatives in teaching and learning to develop the material and make students more active and interested in class. The objective of this research is to find out whether teaching using group investigation technique is able to develop the students’ reading in recount text at the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 17 Kota Serang. The methodology of this research was a quantitative research method by using true experimental design. The study was carried out into two classes, Class VIII E as experimental class, and Class VIII C as control class. The results of the study showed that group investigation was able to develop students’ reading comprehension in recount text. Mean of posttest score of the experimental class (67.31) was higher than the control class (64.18). Based on the statistical analysis using t-test analysis, it showed the value of tcount ≥ ttable = 49.12 ≥ 1.99. It means that (Ha) was accepted and the (H0) was rejected. It can be concluded that group investigation is able to develop students’ reading comprehension in recount text at eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 17 Kota Serang.

This study was aimed to know the attitude of students towards the use Reflective Journal Writing a writingactivity at the excellent classes of eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Solok in 2019/2020 academic year. The research method used in this study was quantitative descriptive. The population in this research was the excellent classes of eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Solok in 2019/2020 academic year. The total of population was 66 students of 2 classses The technique sample used was total sampling, where all the students in excellent classes, class VIII A and VIII B were  included as the sample in the research. To get the data of the research, the researcher used questionnaire. The research design included a 5 point Likert-type questionnaire which were strongly agree (SA), Agree (A), Undecided (U), Disagree (D), and strongly Disagree (SD). In this case the researcher used 44 number of statements which based on 3 indicators of students’ attitude. The indicators of attitude were divided into cognitive, emotion and behavioral aspects. The finding of this research show the final percentage of students’ attitude towards reflective journal writing was 76%, it was classified as in the “very good” level. It means students had a very positive attitude towards the use of reflective journal writing as writing activity.

This study aims to improve the speaking skill of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Banawa in the use of audio visual aids. This research was conducted through action research consisting of two cycles. The data were obtained from observation during the implementation of the action; interview with Teacher of English and the eighth grade students from class VIII A; and discussion with Teacher of English. Data in the form of field notes, interview transcripts, and photographs. The validity of the data is obtained by applying utilization Audio Visual Aids, results and processes. The results show that there was an increase in students' speaking skills through the use of audio visual aids. The audio-visual tool used in this study was video and slide. Videos were taken from youtube.com in the form of dialogue in certain expressions. These videos can attract students' attention and increase their learning motivation. Students can have a better understanding of the use of English in real situations when they learn appropriate Englishlanguage models through audio-visual aids (video and slide). Students make improvements in several aspects of speaking skills, such as fluency and comprehensibility. They are more confident in speaking English. They actively participate during the teaching and learning process. In addition, they did not hesitate to ask the teacher when they found difficulties. The research findings are also supported by the results of students' speaking achievement which increased from 57.78 in cycle I to 72.67 in cycle II.

This thesis is purposed at proving the effectiveness of cartoon videos in teaching speaking to the Eighth Grade Students of SMPN 2 Rantau Kalimantan Selatan in academic year of 2013/2014, and showing that there is a significant difference in speaking ability between the students who were taught by using cartoon videos and those who were taught by using conventional method. This study is an experimental research. The population of this study was the eighth grade students of SMPN 2 Rantau Kalimantan Selatan in academic year of 2013/2014 which consisted of seven classes. The total number of population was 158. There were two classes taken as the sample, Class VIII B serving as control class were taught by using conventional method, while class VIII F as the experimental class were taught by using cartoon videos. Class VIII B consisted of 22 students and class VIII F consisted of 22 students. Both classes were given the pre-test at the beginning and the post-test at the end after the treatment. The data were collected by using speaking test. The data were analyzed by using t-test computation, descriptive analysis, and inferential analysis. The research findings show that there is a significant difference in students’ speaking ability between the experimental group taught by using cartoon videos and those who were taught by using conventional method. The result of the pre-test shows that both groups are poor, while the post-test result shows that the experiment group is better than the control one. The mean score of the experimental class in pre-test was 42.50 and that of control class was 42.73. The mean score in post-test of the experimental class was 75.68 and that of the control class was 57.50. It can be seen that the mean score of the experimental class was higher than that of control class in post-test. Furthermore, based on the hypothesis testing, it could be seen that the value of -t obtained (-5.245) < - t table (-2.018), at the significant level 5%. This implied that there is a significant difference of students’ speaking ability between the students who were taught by using cartoon videos and those who were taught by using conventional method.

The objectives in these studies are (1) determine the activity of theeighth grade students of SMP 2 Labuan Deli in learning activities using an experimental method of inquiry. (2) Determine the increased student’s activityin class VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Labuan Deli in solving physics problems after applied the experimental method. This study is a classroom action research. Research subject is class VIII SMP 2 Semester 2 Labuan Deli T.P 2012/2013numbered 31 students consisting of 13 men and 18 women. Object of thisresearch is to apply the learning peruses STAD cooperative learning modelthrough experimental methods. This result show (1) There is an increase instudent learning outcomes Junior High School eighth grade 2 Labuan Deli isshown from: (a) the results of tests of student learning in the first cycle,namely: mean = 58.92 with the percentage of completeness = 19.36%; (b)tests of student learning outcomes in the second cycle is the average 75.70,percentage of completeness = 58.92%. Completeness percentage increased by61.24% and 0.41 normalized gain index or criteria being. (2) There is anincrease in the activity of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 LabuanDeli is shown from the first cycle only average 65.60 and 81.65 in the secondcycle. The results of this study can be used as input for teachers in an effort toincrease the activity and student learning outcomes by applying experimentalmethods.

This study was to determine the effectiveness of the kinemaster-based animated video to improve the vocabulary mastery of Arabic for eighth grade students at MTs. Nurul Huda Ketambul, Tuban, East Java.. This research used an associative quantitative approach. The population in this study was class VIII MTs Nurul Huda Ketambul, Tuban, which consisted of one class. The sample of this research was class VIII with a total of 21 students, and this study used a quota sample that only used one class in the study. While the research data collection was a test (pre test and post test) and a questionnaire. Analysis of the data used in this study aimed to determine the significant results of the instruments used. The results of the research on the effectiveness of the kinemaster-based animation video to improve the vocabulary mastery of Arabic for eighth grade students of MTs Nurul Huda Ketambul, Tuban, were effective in improving students' mastery of Arabic vocabulary, even though it was included in the medium category 56.60%. The categorization is based on Archambault's normalized Gain criteria table. This shows a significant value for the kinemaster-based animated video to improve students' mastery of Arabic vocabulary which proved to be quite effective.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is three. First, describe the writing skills of exposition text of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang before using discovery learning models assisted by audiovisual media. Second, describe the writing skills of exposition text of grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang after using discovery learning models assisted by audiovisual media. Third, describe the influence of discovery learning models assisted by audiovisual media on writing exposition text skills of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang. The sample in this study was class VIII.2 with 29 students. The results of this study are three, namely as follows. First, exposition text writing skills before using the discovery learning learning model assisted by audiovisual media of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang are in almost adequate qualifications with an average value of 53.45. Second, the skill of writing exposition text after using the discovery learning model assisted by audiovisual media of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang is in a qualification of more than enough with an average score of 70.11. Third, based on the t-test, the alternative hypothesis (H_1) is received at a significant level of 95% and the degree of freedom (dk) = n-1 because of tcount> t table, which is 4.79> 1.70. This means that there is a significant influence on the use of discovery learning models assisted by audiovisual media on the exposition writing skills of eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 25 Padang. Kata kunci: Pengaruh, Discovery Learning, Keterampilan Menulis Teks Eksposisi

Teachers are required to be able to manage the class with good way. If the class has good managed, it is expected that students' learning motivation will be increased. The purpose of this study  are to describes: 1) students' perceptions of the teacher's ability in class management at MTs Nurul Falah Airmolek, Subdistrict of Pasir Penyu, Indragiri Hulu Regency ?; 2) learning motivation of eighth grade students at MTs Nurul Falah Airmolek, Subdistrict of Pasir Penyu, Indragiri Hulu Regency ?; and 3) the relationship between students' perceptions of the teacher's ability in class management and learning motivation of eighth grade students of MTs Nurul Falah Airmolek, Subdistrict of Pasir Penyu, Indragiri Hulu Regency? This research was a correlation study, which connected the students' perceptions of the teacher's ability in class management and learning motivation of eighth grade students at MTs Nurul Falah Airmolek. The population in this study were all students of class VIII MTs Nurul Falah, there were 95 as the sample. Meanwhile, the population is not more than 100 people. Thus, the instrument used to collect data in this study is a questionnaire. The questionnaire has been tried out first to find the validity and reliability test. To determine the relationship between students' perceptions of the teacher's ability in class management and student learning motivation, the data was analyzed through contingency coefficient correlation techniques because the data produced are not normally distributed and not linear. The findings of this study showed that: 1) students' perceptions of the teacher's ability in class management at MTs Nurul Falah Airmolek, Pasir Penyu Subdistrict, Indragiri Hulu District, are mostly classified as medium; 2) learning motivation of eighth grade students at MTs Nurul Falah Airmolek, Pasir Penyu Subdistrict, Indragiri Hulu Regency, is mostly classified as medium; and 3) there is a relationship between students' perceptions of the teacher's ability to manage classes and learning motivation of eighth grade students at MTs Nurul Falah Airmolek, Pasir Penyu District, Indragiri Hulu Regency.

The objectives of this research are: 1) To find out the implementation of teaching activities of teachers by using Snowball Throwing models for eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Kelayang, Indragiri Hulu Regency, 2) To find out the implementation of student activity learning using Snowball Throwing models for VIII grade students of SMPN 1 Kelayang Regency of Indragiri Hulu, 3) To find out the extent of the success of teaching and learning by using Snowball Throwing models in class VIII students of SMPN 1 Kelayang Regency of Indragiri Hulu. This research was conducted in 2 cycles. The subjects in this study were all students of class VIII1 of SMPN 1 Kelayang, Indragiri Hulu Regency, amounting to 33 people. The data analysis technique in this research uses descriptive quantitative. The results showed that student learning outcomes have increased with the average daily cycle repetition is 68.63% and increased on the daily cycle II replications by obtaining an average value of 72.87%. Then it can be concluded that by using the Snowball Throwing model can be the results of learning history subjects of eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Kelayang, Indragiri Hulu Regency.
