Previous scholars in linguistics studies have focused only on the theory proposed by European linguists, one of them is Ferdinand de Saussure from Swiss. However, long before Saussure’s concept has been popularized, in the fourth century, the Arab world has already had the concept of linguistics initiated by ‘Abd al-Qāhir al-Jurjānī. This study compared al-Jurjānī and de Saussure theoretical concepts by employing library research. This study shows that al-Jurjānī and de Saussurre are similar in several ways, (1) related to langue and parole vis-à-vis al-lughah and al-kalām. al-Jurjānī called it al-lughah for a theory, and al-kalām as the practice of the theory or the words of each individual. Meanwhile, de Saussure said that langue is a system and structure that is in the cognition of certain citizens of society, and parole is its application, (2) related to signifies and signifiant vis-à-vis lafẓ and ma‘ná. Both of them both think that language is not just a word or sentence, both oral and written in such a way, but a system of signs, (3) related to syntagmatics and paradigmatics vis-à-vis al-jiwār and al-ikhtiyār in discussing the relationships that govern the components of linguistic structures.

However, long before Saussure’s concept has been popularized, in the fourth century Arab world has already had concept of linguistics initiated by Abdul Qāhir al-Jurjāni. Embarked upon a study on language construction of Al-Qur'an, he extended the concept to general context including Arabic literature. This current study compared Al-Jurjāni and Saussure theoretical concepts by employing library research. The main sources were taken from Dalailul i'jaz authored by Al-Jurjāni and Course in Gerenal Linguistics written by Charles Bally and Albert Sechehay taken from their notes in Saussure’s college class. The findings reveal the sameness of linguistics concept between Saussure and Al- Jurjāni namely langue-parole vs Lughah-Kalam, Significant-Signifier vs lafal-makna, and Syntagmatic-Paradigmatic vs an-nadzm- al-Ikhtiār.

AbstractIn his three courses of lectures on general linguistics given between 1907 and 1911, Ferdinand de Saussure (1857–1913) sometimes drew diagrams and figures on the chalkboard to add a visual dimension to the novel and challenging theoretical concepts he was laying out. Those which the editors redrew for inclusion in the Cours de linguistique générale (1916) – in some cases with significant changes – have had a surprisingly strong impact on readers ever since. If Saussure hoped that the drawings would clear up ambiguities in his verbal text, he might have been disappointed; for while they extend a hand to students and readers to guide them into his conceptual world via the stepping-stones of the semi-familiar, accessible and concrete, they have opened up whole new realms of ambiguity, and strengthened the ones already present in the verbal text. This article examines seven of the illustrations or sets of illustrations in the CLG and the various interpretations to which they have given or could give rise, treating these not as erroneous but as contrapuntal to the text when the two appear to be in contradiction.

dth: 0px; "> The research describes and explains the wave of protest movement in theKingdom of Morocco, one of the Muslim countries in the Western Arab, in the post-2011 constitutional referendum. The constitutional reform was carried out as a response to the large and massive people protest. Unlike the cases in other neighboring states where “Arab Spring” took place, the Moroccan movement receded without neither the fall of the regime nor massive casualties. However, intense protest kept taking place, especially in Muhammad V Street leading to the Parliament Building. Some interesting questions arise, including what the nature of the current protest is and why people still protest after the vast popular agreement toward the constitutional referendum. Based on library research and intense observation for forty days, and interviews, this study found that, to some extent, the Morocco protest has the same nature as that of the Arab Spring. The protest has “hidden agendas” although there are evidences that they dissembled in “smaller and partial issues because of some reasons”. The author holds that Morocco is an important lesson for political reform in the current turbulent Arab world and, to abroader context, in the Muslim world.

Flexibility in architectural spaces makes it possible to adjust the living conditions associated with human settlements and adapt the residential unit to human behavior. Today, due to the lack of a correct statement about the proper placement of spaces, biologic neighborhoods in relation to geographic location and the neglect of the true concept of comfort in modern buildings, seems necessary to provide appropriate solutions to this problem. What is the concept of flexibility and how to create and achieve solutions for the reconciliation of the human environment in the climate of own habitat? All of this research seeks to provide a solution to the creative design of flexible spaces, with goals such as: improving and increasing the performance of residential spaces, developing creative design solutions in residential spaces, introducing theoretical foundations and criteria for flexible spaces, and taking advantage of in today's design of housing. The study of theoretical concepts of flexible spaces will help residents to create comfort in the living space of contemporary buildings. This research proposes, through deductive reasoning, appropriate solutions to the positive effects of physical, functional, social and functional characteristics, on increasing the comfort of living in resident settlements. This research is of qualitative and descriptive-analytic method for elaboration of the issue of flexibility and promotion of biological comfort in contemporary habitat. In the discussion of theoretical foundations, a library research has been used including specialized sites, books and scientific articles that use Results and data aggregation can be found in effective physical solutions appropriate to the conditions of the construction of contemporary buildings in Iran.

The article considers the importance of cross-cultural competence for the Russian-Egyptian economic and business interaction. A historical overview of bilateral relations is made with an emphasis on trade. However, in today’s globalized world communication between representatives of such two different cultures as Russia and Egypt can no longer rely upon traditional approaches. The choice in favour of the Russian-Egyptian interaction is determined by the following factors: 1) both countries are regional leaders - Russia is a locomotive of Eurasia and the leader of various political and economic processes at the post-Soviet space, while Egypt is both “heart and mind” of the Arab world, being a traditional architect of development in the Middle East and North Africa; 2) Russia traditionally has geopolitical interests in this part of the world, while Egypt has strong intention to diversify its international liaisons by including the Russian Federation into the circle of its strategic partners; 3) Russian-Egyptian relations enjoy a long and profound history; 4) Russian-Egyptian cooperation is currently being realized on a wide scale and includes political, military, economic, cultural, scientific, educational, social even religious spheres. Psychological challenges of the Russian-Egyptian business interaction are illustrated on both empirical and theoretical material: the first is shown by the examples from the work of the RussianEgyptian Business Council. The second level is represented by the two theoretical concepts: 1. of M-time and P-time cultures elaborated by the prominent American anthropologist Edward Hall; 2. Long-Term Orientation dimension suggested by famous Dutch researcher Geert Hofstede.

This paper aims to examine the development of Arabic vocabulary through isytiqāq kabīr, akbar, and kubbār. Isytiqāq or derivation has appeared among Arabic linguists from the beginning of the third century hijriah until the middle of the end of the fourth century hijriah. The qualitative research method (al-bahts al-kayfi) with the type of library research is used in this paper to examine library materials related to the writing theme. The study results show that the type of isytiqāq kabīr is the same as taqlīb (change), the type of isytiqāq akbar is the same as ibdal, and the type of isytiqāq kubbār is the same as naht (acronym). The three isytiqāq have differences, namely; isytiqāq kabīr / akbar is to form various syllables from a syllable consisting of three phonemes, but still has elements of the same meaning. The similarity in meaning is because the word formed comes from a root word with the same phoneme. While isytiqāq kubbār is to form a new word by abbreviating two or more words, which results in an abbreviated word meaning.

The focus of discussion in Working Group 3 was on the Thermodynamic Properties as determined spectroscopically, including the observational techniques and the theoretical modeling of physical processes responsible for the emission spectrum. Recent advances in observational techniques and theoretical concepts make this discussion particularly timely. It is wise to remember that the determination of thermodynamic parameters is not an end in itself and that these are interesting chiefly for what they can tell us about the energetics and mass transport in prominences.
