Multicultural Sufism Education developed by Sunan Kudus is based on the basic values of Islamic teachings that developed in the world of Sufism which then developed through the syncretic integration between the teachings of Islamic Sufism and the spiritual teachings developed in Hinduism and Buddhism that first developed in Kudus. The Walisongo scholars, including Sunan Kudus, in practicing Islamic da'wah mostly use the Sufism approach, making it readily accepted by Hindu and Buddhist communities. Multicultural Sufism Education is done by Sunan Kudus, remembering that in carrying out Islamic mission Sunan Kudus is also renowned as a harmonious and pluralist Walisongo cleric, and adopted many traditions of Hindu and Buddhist society which have long developed in Kudus. For Sunan Kudus, as long as the Hindu and Buddhist traditions are not contrary to the basic teachings of Islam, they can be adopted as part of the next Islamic tradition. In its development, Sunan Kudus's multicultural education of Sufism became the basis for the development of Islamic Nusantara education. Islamic Nusantara Education is built and is based on the teachings of Walisongo scholars. Islamic Education Archipelago is an Islamic education that put forward pluralist values, harmonious and inclusive. For this reason, Islamic Nusantara education is believed to be able to build a civilization of Indonesia and a harmonious and pluralist world.

This article aims to explore information about Islamic Boarding School (Pesantren) incredibly Modern related to Postmodernism. The traditionalism of Pesantren in the early days is considered to have changed with modernism. The answer to the influence of Postmodernism to be found by the method of description-comparison-interpretation of the data obtained. The discussion shows that the effect of the movement of thought is only the lexical meaning of renewal. As for Pesantren's principles, characteristics, or fundamental values remains valid and become an institution that becomes a tradition in the body of Islamic Education thinking. It can also be said that the better (al-ashlah) taken by him and keeping the good (al-shâlih), means is his traditions. A tradition that is considered similar to other thought movements is Pesantren's dynamic attitude. Similarly, Waqf is the basis of ownership in Pesantren which replaces the Foundation system. It is not a new item, so its value remains in the Islamic tradition. Thus it can be understood that Pesantren continues to return to the rule of existing Islamic educational institutions, which aims to give the life of the world and the hereafter to everyone related to it.

Abstract. The Islamic education, Islamic boarding schools and madrasas, have made a very significant contribution to the implementation of education and social reform. Through the teaching process, in which the kyai as the main figure and the use of the ‘yellow book’, traditional Islamic ideas colored the early days of growing awareness as a nation and a State. When the New Order government carried out the development and modernization of society, there was a revival of a Muslim group called the “new middle class santri”, which took place in line with the modernization that occurred in the traditional Islamic educational institutions of the pesantren. Then in the era of democratization, the world of Islamic education experienced growth and development in various religious institutions and styles. Most of the pesantren are still committed to maintaining a moderate religious style, recognized as the foundation for the development of civil society and the formation of a ‘distinctive’, friendly, moderate, and tolerant social-political identity of Indonesian society. The Muslim character is different from other regions, especially the Middle East which is the axis of the Islamic world. However, a small proportion of pesantren are thought to promote the growth of religious chauvinism, teach a ‘narrow’ interpretation of Islam and provide a framework of thought and action in responding to socio-political change which often takes the form of a ‘jihad’. This article tries to explore the contribution of Islamic education to social change in the Indonesian Muslim community. Abstark.

Abstract: Islamic education institutions in Indonesia face two challenges, namely; internal and external. Internally, Islamic education is faced with the classic problem of the low quality of human resources in education management. The causes include poor quality and education staff development and selectivity of education personnel. Furthermore externally, Islamic education institutions faced three major issues; globalization, democratization, and liberalization. The issue of globalization that is identical with market orientation and mechanism also affects the world of education. That way in education also includes awareness about how to attract and convince the community of the type and model of education. From here, the education world is ready or not ready to be involved in competition to gain public trust. To face these challenges Islamic Education institutions must maximally manage and empower all elements of management in the management of educational institutions. A good understanding of the elements of management can have an impact on the readiness of educational institutions to manage their institutions well in any condition to be the best and foremost. Keywords: Elements of Management, Management, Education, Islam

Is Islam hospitable to religious freedom? The question is at the heart of a public controversy over Islam that has raged in the West over the past decade-and-a-half. Religious freedom is important because it promotes democracy and peace and reduces ills like civil war, terrorism, and violence. Religious freedom also is simply a matter of justice—not an exclusively Western principle but rather a universal human right rooted in human nature. The heart of the book confronts the question of Islam and religious freedom through an empirical examination of Muslim-majority countries. From a satellite view, looking at these countries in the aggregate, the book finds that the Muslim world is far less free than the rest of the world. Zooming in more closely on Muslim-majority countries, though, the picture looks more diverse. Some one-fourth of Muslim-majority countries are in fact religiously free. Among the unfree, 40% are repressive because they are governed by a hostile secularism imported from the West, and the other 60% are Islamist. The emergent picture is both honest and hopeful. Amplifying hope are two chapters that identify “seeds of freedom” in the Islamic tradition and that present the Catholic Church’s long road to religious freedom as a promising model for Islam. Another chapter looks at the Arab Uprisings of 2011, arguing that religious freedom explains much about both their broad failure and their isolated success. The book closes with lessons for expanding religious freedom in the Muslim world and the world at large.

Multiculturalism refers to the existence of different social groups in society. Multiculturalism advocates a society in which no culture is dominant. Multiculturalism is a fact of life for many people. Multiculturalism and globalization affect how people organize the world around them and how they see themselves and others. Multicultural education offers an educational program that concerns not only specific minorities but also all social groups. Today, with the effect of globalization, teachers and students can participate in educational activities all over the world. This situation requires educators to approach multicultural education positively in order to ensure equality of opportunity in education. In this study, it is aimed to examine the relationship between prospective primary school teachers and pre-school teacher candidates’ attitudes towards multiculturalism and refugee students. The article summarizes the information on multicultural education, which is one of the reflections of globalization on education, and refugee students and equal opportunities in education. The research was carried out with the relational survey model, one of the quantitative research methods. In the study, it was determined that the sum of multicultural attitudes increased the general level of attitude towards refugee students. Another result of the research is that the sum of multicultural attitudes increases the level of communication, adaptation and efficiency. In the study, the communication scores of the preschool teaching department were also found to be higher than the communication scores of the primary school teaching department.

Sidi Gazalbarevealed that: "Value is something that is abstract. Value is not a concrete object, not a fact, not just a question of right and wrong that demands empirical evidence, but rather a matter of appreciation that is desired, liked and disliked. While Educative education comes from the word that means pendidikan.Sedangkan education question in this case is the Islamic education. So according to Prof. Dr. Omar M. Taomy al Pendidikaan Syaibany in his philosophy of Islam, it can be concluded that: "Islamic Education is an attempt to change the behavior of individuals in the life of their community and also in the surrounding environment through the education process. The changes are based on the values of Islam.”
