Abstract Background: Given the major role of capacity building in improving the health of rural communities and due to the lack of studies performed on this issue, we aimed to investigate the effectiveness of educational and capacity building intervention on staff communication, job motivation skills, educational performance, and knowledge and behavior of health house clients in Ardabil city’s rural communities. Methods: The pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design was conducted. In this study, convenience sampling was performed and a total of 220 health care recipients and 108 staff were surveyed in both interventional and control groups. The intervention was designed based on four approaches for capacity building introduced by Crisp et al. Data were collected using three questionnaires including knowledge and practice about healthy lifestyle, communication skills self-assessment, and Wright's job motivation. All statistical analyses were fulfilled using IBM SPSS Statistics software. Results: At the end of the study; the mean scores of knowledge and practice of referrals to health centers about a healthy lifestyle and communication skills and job motivation of healthcare worker increased statistically in the intervention group compared to the baseline (p< 0.05), but changes in these variables were not significant in the control group (p>0.05). Following 3 months of intervention, there were significant differences among the study groups (p< 0.05).Conclusion: Capacity building comprehensive interventions can help in identifying rural community health needs, increasing knowledge and practice of rural communities' residents about health issues, promoting health workers empowerment, and improving health workers' motivation.

The Indonesian government is taking several steps to ensure the control of COVID-19 and strengthen the capacity of the health care system to handle the pandemic period. One of them is the coverage of basic immunization to prevent diseases in children such as measles, rubella, and diphtheria which is decreasing, including the number of immunization coverage for diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus (DPT3) and measles and rubella (MR1) has decreased by more than 35%. Immunization services are reopened to prevent Extraordinary Events (KLB) of diseases in children that can be prevented by immunization (PD3I), to socialize a series of guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOP), as well as communication, information, and education (KIE). This study aims to determine the effect of booklet media education on parents' knowledge and attitudes towards basic immunization during the COVID-19 pandemic. Research Design Nonrandomized pre-test post-test with control group design. The total sample of 158 respondents was divided into 2 groups, the intervention group which was educated with booklet media and the control group without booklet education. The results showed that booklet media education was very influential (p = 0.001) on parents' knowledge and attitudes about basic immunization during the COVID-19 pandemic, this proves that booklet media is a communication tool that can be used by health workers to help increase parents' knowledge so as not to worry about bringing children to health services to keep immunizing during this COVID-19 pandemic.

BACKGROUND: The low adherence to consumption of Fe tablets in adolescent girls illustrates that the iron supplementation program has not been maximized, so the proportion of anemia in the adolescent group is still high. School-based weekly Fe tablet intervention together with education is effective and ideal in preventing anemia. AIM: This study aims to determine the effect of the PAKEM education model on adherence to Fe tablet consumption. METHODS: This research was quasi-experimental with the randomized pre-test-post-test control group design. The population of this study was 249 young women in Class XI of several high schools, SMAN 12 Makassar and SMAN 1 Makassar, based on the results of the initial survey with low adherence to taking Fe tablets. The research sample was obtained by simple random sampling; 70 respondents were divided into intervention and control groups. Data were analyzed using paired t-test, Wilcoxon test, and Mann–Whitney U-test. RESULTS: There was an increase after the PAKEM educational intervention on knowledge (10.91–17.88), attitudes (56.11–73.60), motivation (38.05–53.49), and actions (0.83–7.34). There was a significant difference between the PAKEM intervention group and the leaflet and audiovisual controls on all study variables with p=0.000 (p<0.05). CONCLUSION: The PAKEM education model was more influential than a leaflet and audiovisual media on the compliance of female adolescent Fe tablet consumption. It is recommended for health workers and educators to apply the PAKEM education model to prevent anemia in adolescent girls.

Kata Kunci : Demam Berdarah, Maya Index, pelatihan, pengendalian vektor   ABSTRACT Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) caused by Dengue virus could cause death. The most appropriate prevention of Dengue is eradication of mosquito nests (PSN). This study aims to determine the effect of Dengue vector control training on elementary students towards Maya Index in Majalengka. Method: This study used quasi-experimental design (pretest-posttest control group design). A total of 4 schools were selected as intervention groups and 4 other schools as controls. The subjects were students in grades IV-VI consisting of 171 students in the intervention group and 163 in the control group. The instrument used was periodic larva monitoring form. Results: The number of houses with a high Maya Index category in the intervention group decreased from 27.5% to 9.4%. There was a decrease in the high BRI category in the intervention group from 20.5% to 1.8%. In the control group, there was no decrease in the high BRI category (22.1%), on the contrary, there was a decrease in the low category from 34.4% to 3.7%. There was no decrease in HRI rates both of intervention or control groups. Conclusion: Dengue Fever vector control training could decrease the value of BRI and Maya Index, but does not affect the value of HRI. The absence of changes in HRI  indicate that environmental hygiene and sanitation are factors that influence the probability of dengue fever occurrence. Keywords: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever, Maya Index, training, vector control
