The COVID-19 outbreak has created an unprecedented challenge for governments to convey information to the public, and social media has become a critical method of COVID-19 communication in Taiwan. Objectives: This study examines a total of 1128 Facebook posts published by Taiwan’s principal health authority from December 1, 2019 to May 31, 2020. Methods: Using both qualitative and quantitative approaches, this study investigates strategies used by the Taiwan government to communicate the COVID-19 outbreak and public responses toward these strategies. Result: Novel uses of Facebook posts on outbreak communication were identified, including solidarity, reviews of actions, press conferences, and the use of animal and cartoon images. Quantitative results showed that the public responded significantly more frequently to messages generating positive affects, such as posts that reviewed government actions and public efforts; posts that expressed thanks, approval, or comradeship; and posts that paired text with photographs of frontline workers or cute animals. Conclusion: These results suggest that, amid a disease outbreak, the public not only look for updated situations and guidelines but also for affective affirmation from government agencies.

The danger and bad effects of smoking on health have been felt by many active and passive smokers. However, awareness of the dangers of smoking in Desa Jebres is still low. Therefore, I conducted an education program on the dangers of smoking in Jebres Village, Jebres District, Surakarta. This program is given the name STAR (Sehat Tanpa Asap Rokok), an educational program about the dangers of smoking for passive smokers in the village of Jebres. The program consists of counseling through electronic social media, and the distribution of pamphlets. In general, the public does not understand the danger that is caused by smoking behavior both for themselves (active smokers) and other people (passive smoking). This is seen from the results of a survey that I conducted on several family heads in the village of Jebres. It was found that the majority of the people (70%) were still smoking in their house near family members. Therefore, we educate about the dangers of smoking for passive smokers. The intervention results show that there is increased awareness of the dangers of cigarettes to themselves and to others who are exposed to cigarette smoke

During unexpected social events, information extracted from social media content posted by the people could play a crucial role in understanding the public opinion about the event. In this study, a mixed method procedure, which combines automated and human-based methods, is proposed to mine information from tweets to understand people's thoughts toward an unexpected turn of events. The proposed framework was applied on tweets posted regarding the police shooting to disperse protesters during the anti-Sterlite protests on May 22, 2018, at Thoothukudi in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The tweets were analyzed in two ways: (i) sentiment classification with automated computational methods and (ii) qualitatively examining the context of the expressed sentiments. In the case of anti-Sterlite protests, people expressed mixed emotions toward the protests for the closure of the Sterlite plant. A large negative sentiment toward the police shooting could be gleaned from the tweets. Analyzing tweets by the proposed method provides clear insights regarding the incident, which in turn will aid in planning an emergency response.

In this paper, we rely on research of specific features of social media’s Internet audience conducted by VCIOM, BrandAnalytics, RBC and other expert and informational communities and consider the social media’s role, opportunities and limitations in building a dialogue between the population and authorities’ representatives. To this end, we assess the level of activity and productivity of authorities representatives’ presence and the existence of feedback from the public on social media like VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, Facebook and Instagram. The paper’s theoretical and methodology foundation is the secondary analysis of domestic and Western publications studying specific features of social media as a platform for civil journalism of a new type. Also, we apply comparative analysis of sociological research methods of socio-digital activity. Officials’ reliance on opinion polls that are inefficient (unlike content analysis) in terms of monitoring the socio-digital activity leads to their underestimating the popularity level of social media (VKontakte, Odnoklassniki) “loved by the people” and preferring foreign ones (Facebook and Instagram) or offline communications. This causes officials’ insufficiently quick reaction to acute problems and public needs and, consequently, distribution of fake information (especially under crisis and panic conditions). Medialogy automated mass media monitoring (content-based) system proved to be a good tool of political forecasting to neutralize these phenomena. In this paper, we research the prospects of its application and make a conclusion on the need of its broader deployment in the practice of public opinion monitoring by regional and municipal authorities.

As a result of many hoaxes on social media, there are many divisions between the people as expressed in this empirical study. If it is carefully observed that the main problem is not in the development of science and technology globally, but the problem is there are every person who uses the technology irresponsibly because humans are too spoiled with various facilities of technological sophistication so that there is no control when someone is free to express opinions in social media. Ironically this freedom is exploited to explore personal and group interests, without seeing the consequences of this dishonourable behaviour. Health is the basic right for everybody, therefore every citizen is entitled to get the health care. In enforcing the regulation for Jaringan Kesehatan Nasional (National Health Supports), it is heavily influenced by the foreign interests. Economically, this program does not reduce the people’s burdens, on the contrary, it will increase them. This means the health supports in which should place the government as the guarantor of the public health, but the people themselves that should pay for the health care. In the realization of the health support the are elements against the Syariah principles. Indonesian Muslim Religious Leaders (MUI) only say that the BPJS Kesehatan (Sosial Support Institution for Health) does not conform with the syariah. The society is asked to register and continue the participation in the program of Social Supports Institution for Health. The best solution is to enforce the mechanism which is in accordance with the syariah principles. The establishment of BPJS based on syariah has to be carried out in cooperation from the elements of Social Supports Institution (BPJS), Indonesian Muslim Religious (MUI), Financial Institution Authorities, National Social Supports Council, Ministry of Health, and Ministry of Finance. Accordingly, the Social Supports Institution for Helath (BPJS Kesehatan) based on syariah principles could be obtained and could became the solution of the polemics in the society.

Waqf has two dimensional meaning; the spiritual dimension that is taqarrub to Allah and the social dimension as the source of Islamic financial for the welfare of the people. Waqf disputes can be caused by several reasons; waqf land is not accompanied with a pledge; waqf is done on the basis of mutual trust so it has no legal proof and ownership. Currently, the choice to use the court is less effective in resolving disputes. Hence, the public ultimately chooses non-litigation efforts as a way to resolve the disputes. Mediation process is preferred by many as it is viewed to be the fairest way where none of the two parties wins or loses (win-win solution). It is also fast and cheap. This study is intended to examine how to solve waqf dispute with mediation model according to the waqf law, and how the application of mediation in the Religious Courts system
