This research studies the foodstagramming phenomena that happened on most young people in Surakarta which has been the new lifestyle that causes hyperreality in social media. The purpose of this study was to know the motives behind the activities of foodstagramming done by Instagram users and their effects on the people’s consumptive interest that impacted the hyperreality phenomenon on social media. The actions of foodstagramming are now widely popular since more cafés and restaurants are built-in Surakarta. The technology advancement has changed the eating culture, which in the past, it see as a necessity fulfilment. Still, now it becomes the ‘mark’ of what to expose to the public through simulation in social media that eventually forms fake realities, as mentioned by Jean Baudrillard as hyperreality. This study used the qualitative approach and phenomenology method to dig out the motives behind the Surakarta people’s activities foodstagramming. The data collection techniques used were interviews, observation, and documentation from Instagram, news websites, and survey results about consumptive patterns and social media usage. The informant’s criteria were Instagram users, such as cafés and restaurant consumers, entrepreneurs, and the café or restaurant workers. The data analysis technique was an interactive model data analysis by Miles and Huberman. The result showed that ‘Makan Cantik’ and Foodstagramming were simulations that intentionally create to form a particular image to represent the social status and gain prestige. ‘Makan Cantik’ and Foodstagramming were called hyperreality in social media where fake realities were exposed to be more real than the truth itself.

Social media usage among young people has grown astronomically, generating interest among a number of interest groups. This chapter fills a gap on social media psychosocial antecedents propelling high-usage behavior and the subsequent psychosocial outcomes showing in attachment to the social media. The chapter explored the emergent psychosocial needs driving young people's level of usage in social media and the consequences, among a population in Ghana. The findings revealed that young consumers' social media behavior could be greatly influenced by their social psychological needs, but individual psychological variables did not significantly predict usage behavior in social media. The findings also suggest that young people are more emotionally attached to social media, slightly attached cognitively and not attached behaviorally. This implies young people have developed some level of emotional involvement for the use of social media which could affect their well-being positively or negatively.

The paper reveals Plato’s basic views on the philosopher and philosophy. According to Plato, philosophers should rule the state, but for this purpose they should be brought up and educated in the appropriate way, possess qualities and virtues that will enable them to create if not the ideal society and the state, then the most reasonable and suitable one for the people to live in. These virtues are the following: eternal aspiration to cognize being and truth, justice, courage, reasonableness etc. Plato creates an image of the philosopher who is anxious not for personal wealth and prosperity, but for the public good, that is, highly spiritual, highly moral, virtuous life of the society and the state. Naturally, philosophers develop the appropriate philosophy to express their ideas and ideals. In Plato’s works philosophy acquires the character of the social and state ideology which is aimed at educating citizens in the spirit of justice, freedom and responsibility, dignity, good, beauty, love, that is, such philosophy which makes citizens extremely noble and directs their efforts to achieve the public good, the highest spiritual sphere, but not the material well-being. The paper shows that the philosopher and philosophy in Plato’s interpretation have not become outdated for two thousand years, but, on the contrary, have preserved their vitality and sense until nowadays.

In this paper, we rely on research of specific features of social media’s Internet audience conducted by VCIOM, BrandAnalytics, RBC and other expert and informational communities and consider the social media’s role, opportunities and limitations in building a dialogue between the population and authorities’ representatives. To this end, we assess the level of activity and productivity of authorities representatives’ presence and the existence of feedback from the public on social media like VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, Facebook and Instagram. The paper’s theoretical and methodology foundation is the secondary analysis of domestic and Western publications studying specific features of social media as a platform for civil journalism of a new type. Also, we apply comparative analysis of sociological research methods of socio-digital activity. Officials’ reliance on opinion polls that are inefficient (unlike content analysis) in terms of monitoring the socio-digital activity leads to their underestimating the popularity level of social media (VKontakte, Odnoklassniki) “loved by the people” and preferring foreign ones (Facebook and Instagram) or offline communications. This causes officials’ insufficiently quick reaction to acute problems and public needs and, consequently, distribution of fake information (especially under crisis and panic conditions). Medialogy automated mass media monitoring (content-based) system proved to be a good tool of political forecasting to neutralize these phenomena. In this paper, we research the prospects of its application and make a conclusion on the need of its broader deployment in the practice of public opinion monitoring by regional and municipal authorities.

AbstractThis article argues that a liberating Caribbean theology must position itself to provide guidance and direction to the people of the Caribbean as an urgent task by contending, in the public sphere, with the literalism and dogma inherent in Christian fundamentalist theology. By engaging Christian fundamentalism at the level of ideology, Caribbean theology can offer an alternative consciousness through which Caribbean societies can be reshaped in the interest of the social well-being of the peoples of the region.

Health is the basic right for everybody, therefore every citizen is entitled to get the health care. In enforcing the regulation for Jaringan Kesehatan Nasional (National Health Supports), it is heavily influenced by the foreign interests. Economically, this program does not reduce the people’s burdens, on the contrary, it will increase them. This means the health supports in which should place the government as the guarantor of the public health, but the people themselves that should pay for the health care. In the realization of the health support the are elements against the Syariah principles. Indonesian Muslim Religious Leaders (MUI) only say that the BPJS Kesehatan (Sosial Support Institution for Health) does not conform with the syariah. The society is asked to register and continue the participation in the program of Social Supports Institution for Health. The best solution is to enforce the mechanism which is in accordance with the syariah principles. The establishment of BPJS based on syariah has to be carried out in cooperation from the elements of Social Supports Institution (BPJS), Indonesian Muslim Religious (MUI), Financial Institution Authorities, National Social Supports Council, Ministry of Health, and Ministry of Finance. Accordingly, the Social Supports Institution for Helath (BPJS Kesehatan) based on syariah principles could be obtained and could became the solution of the polemics in the society.
