One of the causes of high maternal mortality is delivery assistance provided by other than health workers or traditional healers. The way to reduce the bondage relationship is to increase the motivation of cadres to refer mothers to health workers. The DABA method is a modification or development of the SALT method (support, appreciate, learn, and transfer), is a method or technique for forming something, showing that a community has the ability to respond to every challenge including childbirth assistance. The maternal mortality rate is still high, the Inter-Census Population Survey data released by the Central Statistics Agency shows that there were 359 maternal deaths per 100,000 births in 2013. The purpose of this study was to analyze the motivation of cadres by empowering the DABA method for referral for delivery assistance by health workers in Jember Regency. Motivation is the reason that underlies an action done by an individual. The method used was quasi-experimental using 2 groups. This study used the non equivalent control group, pre test post test design. The population in this study were 2220 posyandu cadres in the working area of the health centers in the Jember District. The subjects of this study were 100 posyandu cadres in Jember district in 2019 who met the criteria. The sampling technique was carried out by simple random sampling by selecting from a list of names of cadres in each health center. There was differences (p-value = 0.021) of cadre motivation between treatment and control group. The cadre motivation of intervention group was higher than the control group for referral labor. Having high motivation means having very strong reasons to achieve what he wants by doing his current job. The cadre motivation of treatment group increased significantly, this happened because cadres trained through the DABA method were invited to achieve the dreams they had built, namely to reduce maternal and infant mortality. Training using the DABA method is able to increase the motivation of cadres to make a referral to mothers to give birth at a health service place, so training with the DABA method is highly recommended to increase motivation for certain groups to achieve certain goals. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2) is a highly prevalent disease, the progression of which depends on high blood glucose levels, which are reflected in the level of glycosylated haemoglobin (HbA1c). Appropriate health education equips patients with the knowledge and skills to control their glucose and HbA1c levels to avoid long-term complications. This study was set up to compare the results of an intensive (360 min) educational intervention to improve HbA1c parameters in patients with DM2 with those of a usual 90 min intervention. For this purpose, healthcare personnel led a quasi-experimental study of 249 diabetics: 171 in the control group, and 78 in the intervention group. In the control group, the mean HbA1c value decreased from 6.97 to 6.75, while in intervention group it fell from 8.97 to 8.06. The before and after mean difference between both groups was compared with a Wilcoxon test, and the results statistically significant (W = 4530; p < 0.001), indicating a higher reduction of HbA1c in the intervention group. We concluded that the intensive health education provided by nurses during the consultation helped improve HBA1c levels in persons with DM2.

Background: Diabetes Mellitus is also known diabetes, as a chronic disease which will trigger various complications both microvascular and macrovascular. This is what leads diabetes patient to have high risk of low self-efficacy. Low of self-efficacy causes a decrease in self care. Therefore, to improve the patient’s self-efficacy is changing their mindset. Bibliotherapy is a treatment using written materials to guide and encourage the patients to challenge unhelpful thoughts. This research aims at discovering the influence of bibliotherapy on self-efficacy of diabetes patients. Methods: This is a quantitative research using quasi-experimental with control group design. The number of samples in this research is 40 respondents, consisting of 20 intervention groups and 20 control group by simple random sampling method. The sample in this research is diabetes patients with such inclusion criteria as (1) 36-60 years of age, (2) having the ability to read well, (3) willing to be a research respondent. Meanwhile, the exclusion criteria are (1) diabetes patient with weak condition, (2) experiencing loss of consciousness, (3) having visual and audio problems, and (4) diabetes patient with mental disability. The intervention group undergoes bibliotherapy for 8 session, each session for 60 minutes. The Diabetes Management Self Efficacy Scale (DMSES) to determine the total score of self-efficacy.Results: Most respondents are middle-aged adults (36-55 years) in both groups. Most respondents have suffered from diabetes for less than 5 years, unemployed and tend to have normal BMIs and also obese category 1. The mean score post test in intervention and control group is 37.00 and 25.65 respectively. The results show that there are differences in self-efficacy scores after treatment in control and intervention groups (p=0.000).Conclusions: From our study we concluded that bibliotherapy could improve self-efficacy in diabetic patients.
