Objective: Marshmallow is a soft candy loved by all levels of society, especially children. Sucrose contained in marshmallow increases the growth of Streptococcus mutans and plaque. Betel chew as Indonesian traditional plants add in marshmallow was believed to decrease S. mutans and plaque. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of chewing marshmallow containing betel chew in reducing S. mutans and plaque index in children. Methods: This research was a quasi-experimental with pre-test and post-test control group design. It was conducted in the Laboratory of Agricultural Chemistry, Laboratory of Agricultural Technology Department, and Islamic School of Al-Amalul Khair. Thirty students were divided into two groups. Group A was chewing marshmallow without betel chew and Group B was chewing marshmallow containing betel chew. Results: The results showed that chewing marshmallow without betel chew increased the growth of S. mutans and plaque index significantly. Chewing marshmallow without betel chew inhibited the growth of S. mutans and dental plaque formation. Conclusion: Chewing marshmallow containing betel chew reduces S. mutans and plaque index on children.

Purwoceng (Pimpinella pruatjan Molk) is an original Indonesian herb which is known to have an aphrodisiac effect. The active compounds in Purwoceng potentially have hepatotoxic and nephrotoxic effects.This study was aimed to analyze the effect of subchronic administration of Purwoceng roots ethanol extract to Wistar Strain of Rattus norvegicus rats. The method of this subchronic toxicity study was an experimental post test only with control group design. Forty male Rattus norvegicus were randomly divided into four groups and get 28-days treatment. Group A as control received aquadest and 1% CMC (carboxymethyl cellulose), group B, C, and D were given Purwoceng roots ethanol extract of 42, 84, and 168 mg/KgBW/day and 1% CMC. Parameters tested were the levels of urea, creatinine, SGPT (serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase), SGOT(serum oxaloacetic pyruvic transaminase), kidney and hepar histopatology.The results showed a statistically significant for the liver histopathological in group B, creatinine, urea, and kidney histopathology  in group C. Our study concluded that subchronic administration of Purwoceng (Pimpinella pruatjan Molk) roots ethanol extract could induce hepatotoxicity at the 42 mg/KgBW/day dose level and nephrotoxicity at the 84 mg/KgBW/day dose level.

This study aims at investigating the relationship between out-of-class reading activities and writing in English as a foreign language. A quasi-experimental pre-test- post-test research design without a control group was used to assess the effect of reading a novel and reading news as out-of-class reading activities on writing achievement. The research results were triangulated with open-ended questions asking participant views about their out-of-class reading tasks. 40 students of an ELT Department at a Turkish university participated in the study. The students were divided randomly into two groups and group A was asked to read a novel while group B was asked to read news as out-of-class reading tasks, for a month. The participants’ writing achievements were tested through two writing tasks, as a pre-test and post-test, in terms of content, organization, vocabulary, language use, mechanics and total scores. The pre-test and post-test scores did not display statistically significant differences between the A and B groups either in total scores or in scores of specific dimensions of the assessment. The participants in group A displayed statistically significant improvement in terms of organization, vocabulary, and language use while the participants in group B demonstrated improvement in content, organization, vocabulary, and language use. The qualitative data verified the quantitative findings, and provided views about different features of the tasks. Bay leaves (Syzgium Polyanthum) contain flavonoids, tannins and essential oils which act as  antibacterial. Plaque contains bacteria that stick closely to the surface of the teeth which can cause disease in the hard tissues of the teeth and the supporting tissues of the teeth. Plaque control is carried out mechanically and chemically, on of which is gargling bay leaf extract. Plaque measurement using the plaque index. The research objective was to determine the inhibition of gargling of bay leaf extract against plaque formation. This study used a quasi experimental method wth a post test control group design. The sampling technique was simple random sampling, the number of sample was determined Fredere’s formula, the sample devided into 3 groups, each group conssiting of 9 respondents.Group 1 rinsed with bay leaf extract, group 2 rinsed with antiseptic mouthwash and group 3 rinsed with aquadest. Data were tested by using Annova test. The result showed that the average plaque index after rinsing the bay leaf extract was 1.056, the average plaque indexgargling antiseptic mouthwash was 2.478, and the average plaque index after gargling with aquadest was 2167.The significance value is 0.178 and f count > f table (6.238> 3.403). The conclusion was garglingbay leaf extract wwas more effective in inhibiting plaque formation. It is recommended to use bay leaf extract as a mouthwash to maintain oral health.

<p>The Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia has used technology to support teaching and learning in Saudi's school system to meet the requirements of the National Transformation Program under Vision 2030. There are different kinds of technology which can enhance the effectiveness of the teaching and learning of mathematics, such as the iPad. This paper presents results of primary research investigating the effect of using iPads in enhancing student achievement in a Saudi secondary school. A quasi-experimental design was used to determine the effect of using an iPad on students' achievement in mathematics across two tenth grade classes (A and B) for two months. In the first month, students of group A used the iPad as a learning tool (treatment group), while students of group B used traditional methods as learning tools (control group). In the second month of the quasi-experimental period, group A became the control group using traditional methods, while group B became the treatment group using the iPad to learn mathematics. At the start of the experiment, a pre-test was completed, and the first post-test occurred one month later, then the treatment was switched. After two months at the end of the quasi-experimental period, both groups had taken the second post-test. Cronbach's alpha coefficient measured the reliability of these tests, with the first test at 0.784 and the second test at 0.792, regarded as very high (close to 1.00). Thus, the tests' reliability and credibility were confirmed. Nine comparisons of the means were used to see if a significant statistical difference between the mean of the two groups or within a group existed, by using the SPSS t-test. After comparing the mean of ‘within-group A’, ‘within group B’, and ‘group A and group B’, it was seen that using the iPad made a statistically significant difference (p&lt;0.05) in students' achievements compared to traditional methods. The main objective of the present study is to investigate the effect of implementing innovative learning approaches upon English students’ achievement. The study was quasi experimental study using the post-test only control group design involving 35 students altogether selected using census sampling technique. The instrument which is used to gather data in the study was test. There were two tests used to gather intended data. They were linguistic test and student achievement test. The obtained data were analyzed statistically using descriptive and inferential analysis. The analysis of covariance was conducted to test the hypotheses.

This aimed to know the influence of PjBL model toward learning results of moral lessons in knowing the prophet and apostle in IV grade of Islamic School Padangsidimpuan Angkola Julu in academic year 2019/2020 by using PjBL and Direct Instruction model. The research model used Quasi-Experimental Design with None Quivalent Control-Group Design. The used instrument is the learning result test. Data analysis used t-Test. Research result showed (1) there is the influence of PjBL model toward student's learning test on moral lesson of knowing prophet and apostle material.

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang menggunakan metode silih tanya berbantuan kartu model dan metode make a match. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian non equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMPN 4 Sungguminasa Kab. Gowa berjumlah 351 siswa dan total sampel berjumlah 64 siswa dengan teknik pengambilan sampel purposive sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes yang terdiri dari pretest dan posttest dan non tes berupa lembar observasi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data nilai siswa menggunakan statistik deskriptif rata-rata nilai kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang diajar menggunakan metode silih tanya berbantuan kartu model adalah 86,84 dengan kategori sedang dan yang diajar menggunakan metode make a match adalah 77,78 dengan kategori sedang. Berdasarkan analisis statistik inferensial bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang menggunakan metode silih tanya berbantuan kartu model dengan yang menggunakan metode make a match pada kelas VII SMPN 4 Sungguminasa Kab. Gowa. AbstractThis study aims to determine the mathematical communication ability of students who use card-assisted questions method and make a match method. This type of research is a quasi-experimental research with nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study were all VII grade students of SMPN 4 Sungguminasa, Gowa Regency with 351 students and a total sample of 64 students with purposive sampling techniques. The instrument used in this study was a test consisting of pre-test and post-test and non-test that is observation sheet. Based on the data analysis results that average the value of students’ mathematical communication skills who were taught using the card-assisted questions was 86.84 in the medium category and those who taught using make a match method were 77.78 in the medium category. The results of inferential statistical analysis that there is a significant difference between the mathematical communication abilities of students who use card-assisted questions and using the make a match method in class VII of SMPN 4 Sungguminasa, Gowa Regency.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of yogic practices on cardio-vascular efficiency. Material and methods: Total Forty (40) subject’s boys/girls were selected as the sample of the study through the random sampling and their age ranged between 20 to 25 years from the Department of Physical Education, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. The subjects were divided into two groups comprising 20 subjects in each group, namely group “A” (the experimental group) performs yogic practices (Asanas, Pranayamas and Kriyas) and group “B” (the control group) served as control. Statistical technique: for the assessment of the cardiovascular efficiency through Harvard step test pre and post-test was conducted and t-test was applied for the analysis. Result: revealed that there exist a significant difference between group A and group B, at .05 level of significance. On the basis of the pre and post-test among experimental and control group, experimental group found better than the control group on cardiovascular efficiency and significant result were found in this study.

Penderita penyakit Covid-19 terus bertambah di seluruh dunia hingga saat ini. Tercatat pada Oktober 2020 terlaporkan sekitar 20.369.778 kasus dan 948.795 kasus meninggal dunia. Kejadian di Indonesia hingga saat ini penderita yang terkonfirmasi positif pada oktober 2020 tercatat 344.749 orang. Pada kondisi memburuk seperti ini, WHO telah mendorong negara-negara  untuk mengembangkan vaksin untuk menangani penyakit covid-19 ini. Keresahan masyarakat mengenai informasi vaksin yang diterima dapat mempengaruhi persepsinya terhadap vaksin covid-19, Pendekatan promosi Kesehatan berbasis keluarga bisa menjadi solusi untuk memberikan informasi terbaik tentang vaksin covid-19 di masyarakat, khususnya pada lingkup kecil di tiap keluarga. Adapun tujuan yang ingin dicapai dalam penelitian yaitu menganalisis pengaruh Pendidikan Kesehatan berbasis keluarga terhadap pengetahuan dan sikap masyarakat tentang vaksin covid-19. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif menggunakan desain quasi experimental dengan pendekatan Pre and Post Test dengan metode nonequivalent control group design melibatkan 100 responden dari masyarakat di wilayah kecamatan pontianak barat – kalimantan barat, menggunakan instrumen materi edukasi dan kuesioner pengetahuan dan sikap tentang vaksin covid-19. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa edukasi berbasis keluarga berpengaruh lebih efektif terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan dan sikap masyarakat terhadap vaksinasi Covid-19 dibandingkan dengan edukasi yang diberikan secara publik atau menggunakan media massa

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pelatihan three corner drill terhadap kelincahan dan power otot tungkai. Jenis penelitian adalah quasi experimental dengan rancangan the non-randomized pretest-posttest control group design. Subjek penelitian yang digunakan siswa putra peserta ektrakurikuler sepak bola SMPN 2 Pekutatan. Data post-test kelincahan dan power otot tungkai pada kelompok perlakuan dan kelompok kontrol dianalisis dengan uji-t independent pada taraf signifikansi (α) 0,05 dengan bantuan program SPSS 16.0. Berdasarkan hasil uji-t independent didapatkan hasil : (1) untuk variabel kelincahan, hasil perbandingan kelompok perlakuan dan kontrol didapatkan nilai thitung = -2,948 , dengan nilai signifikansi 0,009, (2) untuk variabel power, hasil perbandingan kelompok perlakuan dan kontrol didapatkan nilai thitung = 3,176, dengan nilai signifikansi 0,005. Nilai signifikansi hitung lebih kecil dari nilai α (Sig < 0,05), dengan demikian hipotesis penelitian “pelatihan three corner drill berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan kelincahan dan power otot tungkai pada siswa putra peserta ektrakurikuler sepak bola SMPN 2 Pekutatan” diterima. Dari hasil analisis data dan pembahasan disimpulkan bahwa : (1) Pelatihan three corner drill berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan kelincahan pada siswa putra peserta ektrakurikuler sepak bola SMP Negeri 2 Pekutatan (2) Pelatihan three corner drill berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan power otot tungkai pada siswa putra peserta ektrakurikuler sepak bola SMP Negeri 2 Pekutatan. Kata Kunci : kelincahan, daya ledak, three corner drill The purpose of this research was to find out the effect of three corner drill training toward the increased agility and power muscle of legs. The type of research was a quasi-experimental and the design of research was the non-randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The subjects were man’s student football extracurricular participants of SMPN 2 Pekutatan. Agility and muscle power of legs posttest to the treatment group and the control group were analyzed by independent t-test at significance 0,05 with SPSS 16.0. Based on independent t-test results were showed : (1) to the agility variable, the comparison of the treatment and the control group values obtained t = -2,948, with a significance value of 0,009, (2) to muscle power of legs variable, the comparison of the treatment and the control group values obtained t = 3,176, with a significance value of 0,005. Calculated significance value smaller than the value of 0,05 (Sig < 0.05), thus the research hypothesis "three corner drill training affect the increased agility and muscle power of legs in football extracurricular participants of SMPN 2 Pekutatan " was received. From the analyzed and discussion were concluded that : (1) three corner drill training effect the increased agility in football extracurricular participants of SMPN 2 Pekutatan, (2) three corner drill training effect the increased muscle power of legs in football extracurricular participants of SMPN 2 Pekutatan. keyword : Agility, power, three corner drill
