Effective industrial rearing of pigs is impossible without providing them with full-value vitamin-enriched feed. The lack of vitamins in feed negatively affects the productivity of animals. One of the simple and affordable ways to increase the vitamin value of feed can be the addition of sprouted grain to the diet of animals. According to many scientists, when germinating in grain, the content of macro and microelements, vitamins increases. When using sprouted grains, the eatability of feed increases and the absorption of nutrients increases, because in the process of grain germination, enzymes are activated that convert complex nutrients into simple compounds that are easily assimilated in the body of young animals. The efficiency of germination and the quality of germinated grain depends on the conditions of germination and lighting conditions during the growing period. In addition, during long-term storage (more than 4-5 hours) of sprouted grain with a moisture content of more than 60 percent, it begins to mold and rot. Therefore, it must be fed in the first hours after germination. To extend the shelf life of germinated grain, it must be dried to the required moisture content. (Purpose of research) To study the effect of the duration of illumination on the germination rate and the chemical composition of germinated grain of soybeans and lupine. (Materials and methods) We studied the germination technology and, based on the data obtained, adopted our own germination method. An installation was made for determining the time of illumination of grain during germination. Chemical analysis of the composition of soybean and lupine grains was carried out before and after germination, as well as after drying. (Results and discussion) We compared the results of studies on the effect of lighting time on sprout length when germinating grain on vitamin feed. Determined the values of the rate of obtaining shoots, specific energy intensity of lighting. Studied the chemical composition of the original grain of soybeans and lupine, germinated and dried - separately and in stages. (Conclusions) When germinating soybean seeds, the average growth rate for 5 days was 3.34 millimeters per day, and for lupine seeds - 8.4 millimeters per day. In the samples of sprouted dried soybeans, an increase in crude protein in dry matter by 4.23 percent, crude fiber - by 2.07 percent, sugar content - by 0.48 percent was revealed. They showed that the amount of crude protein and crude fiber increased by 2.3 and 2.38 percent, respectively. It was noted that the content of calcium, phosphorus and sodium in the samples of soybeans and lupine increased slightly - less than 0.2 percent.

The quest for cheap and quality food is on the increase, especially during economy crises. Some nutritional properties of the raw and cooked local and industrial spaghetti were determined using standard methods. Concentrations of mineral elements were determined using atomic absorption spectrophotometer. Total ash (0.98±007 %), crude protein (14.28±0.15 %) and carbohydrate (77.95±0.11 %) levels in the raw industrial spaghetti were higher compared to the locally processed raw spaghetti. Carbohydrate and moisture levels for both processed spaghetti increased on cooking, while total ash and protein contents decreased. Crude fiber (0.009±0.00 %), carbohydrate (77.52±0.21 %) and moisture levels in the cooked local spaghetti were higher than in the cooked industrial spaghetti. Proximate contents of the local and industrial raw spaghetti were significantly (P ≤ 0.05) different. Concentrations of mineral elements in the raw locally processed spaghetti were lower than in the industrial spaghetti. Low levels of functional properties were recorded in the local spaghetti. Cooking decreased zinc content in the spaghetti, but significantly (P ≤ 0.05) increased the moisture content, crude fiber, carbohydrate and mineral contents. The spaghetti processed locally may serve as an alternative to the industrial spaghetti.

SummaryThe effects of the time of sowing on growth and chemical composition of carrots grown from May to November were studied during 3 years.Delaying sowing for 1 or 2 months after the beginning of May resulted in a reduction in the growth of both roots and foliage and gave roots with lower dry-matter content and glucose/fructose ratio but higher amounts of hexoses, total nitrogen and amino nitrogen in root dry matter. Sowing date had no influence on the concentration of sucrose, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium in root dry matter up to 137 days from sowing. Carotene decreased only after the last sowing. Sucrose concentration of the roots increased throughout the periods studied irrespective of the time of sowing. The longer the growing period the higher was the sucrose concentration. The concentration of hexoses decreased from the first harvest at 70 days to reach a constant level at about 130 days from sowing. The results did not indicate the presence of a well-defined stage of biochemical maturity in the autumn when carrot roots are expected as most suitable for harvest and subsequent long-term storage.

The aim of this paper is to study the chemical composition of a green fodder used in laying hens feeding raised in ecological system; organic fodder being an important condition to obtain organic eggs for consumption. In order to evaluate the chemical composition variations of the green fodder throughout the year, there were taken plants samples in three different vegetation stages (May, September and October). To each period, were done 5 determinations for the following indicators: dry matter - DM (%), ash - Ash (%), crude protein - CP (%), ether extract - EE (%), crude fiber -CF(%), nitrogen free extract - (NFE%) calcium Ca(%), phosphorus - P(%), magnesium - Mg (%), natrium -Na(%). And also, were analyzed the relevant indexes for the organic production: lead -Pb (mg/kg DM), cadmium - Cd (mg/kg DM), cooper -Cu (mg/kg DM), zinc - Zn (mg/kg DM) nitrites (ppm), nitrates (ppm), pesticides. After analysis, it was noticed that dry matter, minerals, organic matter and protein content varied very significantly between the first period and the third (p 0.001), while the fat content, crude fiber and nitrogen free extract did not register significant differences (p 0.05). Regarding the minerals elements analyzed, P and Mg differed significantly distinctly between the first and the last analyzed period. The content of green fodder in Pb, Cd, Cu and Zn was below the limits allowed by current legislation. The analyses for pesticides have highlighted the lack of them in the fodder. The quality parameters of the analyzed green fodder, expressed through levels of pollutants such as heavy metals, nitrites, nitrates, pesticides, allow us to notify that the green fodders achieve the conditions necessary for organic production.

Optimal forage distribution is crucial for the dairy production sphere. This paper reports on the preparation of liquid grain molasses. Barley and wheat grain were obtained from the Knyaginino rayon, the Nizhny Novgorod region. Processing grain into liquid molasses was performed on the equipment developed at the Knyaginino University using MEK-SKh-3 and “Poliferment” enzymes. Sugar content was of particular interest in the molasses produced. Wheat molasses exceeded the barley one in contents of dry matter (DM), crude protein, crude fat, and sugar after MEK-SKh-3 application. “Poliferment” showed higher effectiveness. Sugar content amounted to 7.3 and 8.77% in barley and wheat molasses, respectively. Wheat molasses had the lowest concentration of crude fiber — 1.48%. “Poliferment” application reduced DM content in molasses. Feeding liquid grain molasses to livestock compensates for sugar deficiency. Higher sugar concentration in forage positively affects cow performance increasing fodder consumption and digestion.

AbstractInformation on the chemical composition of Suffolk × Blackface lambs was collected and used to predict empty body (EB) component weights from empty body weight (EBW) and non-carcass (NC) component weights. EBW accounted proportionately for 0·94, 0·89 and 0·95 of the variation in EB crude protein, fat and energy content. A combination of NC component weights accounted proportionately for 0·94, 0·95 and 0·96 of the variation in EB crude protein, fat and energy content. EBW and a combination of NC component weights together accounted proportionately for 0·97, 0·97 and 0·98 of the variation in EB crude protein, fat and energy content. Chemical analysis of NC components is cheaper and easier than whole body analysis and provides a viable alternative to sample joint or specific gravity analysis.

The effects of plane of nutrition (ad libitum and 75% ad libitum) and dietary crude protein concentration (11.3, 16.0 and 20.9% crude protein) on body composition of male and female weaner goats were studied in a comparative slaughter experiment. The initial chemical composition of the body (water, ash, protein, fat) and dissectible tissue fractions of the carcass (muscle, fat, bone) of the experimental goats were estimated from regression equations, derived from a group of twelve comparable kids. The final chemical composition and carcass tissue distribution were determined directly by chemical and dissection analyses. There was no effect of dietary crude protein concentration on the chemical composition of the empty body weight (EBW) gain or on carcass tissue distribution. The lack of any response to dietary protein was attributed to similar levels of protein/energy available at the small intestine despite large differences in crude protein intake. Ad libitum feeding, however, resulted in significantly more fat (31.0 v. 22.6% of EBW gain) and less water (51.1 v. 56.4% of EBW gain) in the composition of the gain compared with restricted feeding. There was no effect of feeding level on protein or ash content of the body. Goats fed ad libitum had significantly less muscle (60.1 v. 62.5%) and more dissectible fat (19.5 v. 16.3%) in their carcasses than kids restricted in their intake. Females had significantly more fat (32.7 v. 22.4% of EBW gain) but less water (48.4 v. 57.9% of EBW gain) and nitrogen (2.2 v. 2.8% of EBW gain) in their body gain than did males. Similarly, the carcass of females contained more dissectible fat (22.6 v. 13.2%) but less bone (15.8 v. 19.3%) and muscle (58.5 v. 64.1%) than males. The efficiency of utilization of dietary energy for growth and fattening (kf) was similar (0.32) for all groups of kids.
