Use value is one of the key terms related to architectural functionality. The term itself denotes the level of usefulness of a living space for its user, i.e., to what extent the space can meet specific human needs. The paper analyzes the relations between characteristic human needs and the possibilities for their fulfillment in a living space. Various studies examining different aspects of use value have often identified it with the quality of a living space. This is why one of the main aims of this paper is to reexamine the thesis claiming that use value is just one part which defines the quality of a living space and that these two terms are not equivalents. On the other hand, the paper presents a systematization of cause-and-effect relations between human needs and the basic principles and parameters for achieving use value within a living space. Although the term has not lost its importance since it was first used, the criteria for achieving a higher level of use value of a living space have not been sufficiently researched. Along with a comparative analysis of the terms value, use value and the quality of a living space, as well as an examination of the characteristic human needs present in each living space and ways of meeting them, the key contribution of the paper lies in defining the principles for achieving use value.

An image processing methodology for the extraction of potato properties is explained. The objective is to determine their quality evaluating physical properties and using Artificial Neural Networks (ANN’s) to find misshapen potatoes. A comparative analysis for three connectionist models (Backpropagation, Perceptron and FuzzyARTMAP), evaluating speed and stability for classifying extracted properties is presented. The methodology for image processing and pattern feature extraction is presented together with some results. These results showed that FuzzyARTMAP outperformed the other models due to its stability and convergence speed with times as low as 1 ms per pattern which demonstrates its suitability for real-time inspection. Several algorithms to determine potato defects such as greening, scab, cracks are proposed which can be affectively used for grading different quality of potatoes.

ABSTRACT Objective: to reflect on the concept of health of the human being from the ecosystem perspective. Method: qualitative, descriptive study of theoretical-philosophical reflection on health in analogy with authors who discuss the ecosystemic thinking, the human being and its health. References were made to the concept of health of the human being in the light of ecosystemic principles, specifically, verifying its applicability in their daily life. Results: it was evidenced that the health of the human being needs to be understood in its multiple aspects. Thus, health, in its entirety, is not reducible to any of its dimensions, be it biological, psychological, social, spiritual, individual or collective. Conclusion: it is emphasized that the health of the human being is not only the absence of disease, but the incessant search for the balance of human needs anchored in the set of relations of the elements that constitute the ecosystem in which one lives, works and develops. This is not only a close affinity between the two, but the human being itself is an integral part of the ecosystem with which it interrelates and causes changes along with the other constituent elements of that reality. The paper describes the determination of riboflavin and thiamine in the best-selling types of 13 raw and 8 commercial monofloral and multifloral honeys originating from Serbia. It was found that there is a difference in average riboflavin and thiamine content between raw and commercial honey, as well as between different honey floral varieties. The results showed that forest, meadow and oregano honey had a significantly higher content of both B vitamins compared to acacia, linden and lavender honey. On the other hand, a very low content of riboflavin and thiamine was found in honeydew honey. Among the commercial products, royal jelly was the richest in thiamine and riboflavin, followed by forest honey. In general, the quality of all of the commercial honey samples regarding these vitamins was lower than that of the raw domestic honeys.

AbstractThis paper presents a comparative analysis of the quality of democratic accountability mechanisms in Latin America. It begins by reviewing the concept of democratic accountability quality and its operationalization by means of factor analysis. As a result, three quality indicators are identified corresponding to the types of accountability that prevail in the literature: horizontal, electoral and social. The study reveals considerable differences among the Latin American democracies. Set out below is an exploratory analysis of the factors explaining these differences. The analysis yields three main conclusions. First, it confirms the usefulness of the model. Second, the quality of each type of accountability is explained by specific factors: no one factor explains all three cases. Third, a different logic behind social accountability mechanisms is detected as compared with the other two types of accountability mechanisms.

The aim of the study is to identify the level and diversity of labour taxation, expressed by the so-called tax wedge, in Poland compared to the other OECD countries. The identification is based on an analysis of statistical data collected in the OECD database for the years 2000-2012. The study interprets key terms such as labour taxation, tax wedge, and non-wage costs of labour. The further section synthetically discusses theoretical findings and the results of empirical research concerning effects of labour taxation on the functioning of the labour market and, in particular, its impact on employment and unemployment. The author’s own research includes a comparative analysis of tax wedge sizes in different household types in Poland and the other OECD countries in the years 2000-2012. The major conclusion of the analysis is that labour taxation in Poland insufficiently takes into account the financial situation of low-earning individuals and those providing for children (i.e. children within households). The results of the conducted research form the basis for drawing synthetic conclusions and making recommendations for Poland. The main suggestion is that a selective reduction in the non-wage costs of labour of low-earning individuals and those burdened with family responsibilities should be considered.

While this small volume does not apply directly to medical practice, it does contain many informative paragraphs applicable to the maintenance of health. In the preface Dr. Bedford states: "My purpose in preparing this volume has been to deal with ventilation and heating in terms of human needs." This he clearly brings out in such chapters as "Body Heat Production and Heat Loss," "Warmth and Comfort," "The Quality of the Air," "Domestic Heating" and "Effects of Atmospheric Conditions on Accident Frequency and Sickness."

The study is conditioned by the lack of systematic training for translation teachers both in Russia and in foreign countries. To improve the quality of preparing translators, it is necessary to determine the basic principles of training those who teach them, i.e. translation teachers. The study aims at describing a set of competences that a translation teacher should have. To attain this end, the authors used the following methods: a literature overview on the training of translation teachers; the analysis of prominent works containing theoretical provisions that contribute to the development of basic principles for training translation teachers; a questionnaire survey of translation teachers in the Russian universities. The survey has demonstrated that about half of translation teachers have a special degree in translation, while the other half have only a philological degree. Teachers of both categories have not mastered translation didactics. Philology teachers often do not have sufficient translation experience and have a poor command of translation theory. Thus, modern translation teachers do not have a special set of competences that would allow them to effectively train future translators. As a result, a model of the competences of a translation teacher was proposed, including three blocks: professional translation competences, general and special didactic competences. Thus, the scientific novelty of the research lies in the formulation of strict requirements for the training of translation teachers.

This paper attempts to investigate the depiction of nature in the poetry of Robert Frost and how this treatment simultaneously resembles and differs from that of romantic poetry. Though he belongs to the era of modernism, his poetry carries numerous characteristics of romantic poetry. The researcher tries to compare the poetry of Robert Frost and that of the Romantics how they are identical or dissimilar in the representation of nature. Robert Frost might be called the interpreter of nature and humanity. He shows that he is a close observer of both nature and people. On the other hand, Romantic writers see nature as a source of inspiration, solace in agony, healer in mental illness, rescuer in struggling period, etc. They treat nature as Mother Nature where their poetry tells us the beauty of green forestland, woods, hills and mountains, riverbanks, pastoral scenarios, breezes and winds, fresh air, sunrises, and sunsets, etc. Whereas Robert Frost always tries to make a bridge between nature and humankind as he believes that there is a close relationship between man and nature. He finds a resemblance between the order of nature and human life. Frost depicts the symbolic quality of nature. Nature symbolizes the human world and all creatures including mankind are bound to agree and obey the rules of nature. Thus this article would try to uphold Frost's treatment of nature in comparison with that of the Romantics.

During the past investigations of immunoferritin localization of intracellular antigens in ultrathin frozen sections, we found that the degree of negative staining required to delineate u1trastructural details was often too dense for the recognition of ferritin particles. The quality of positive staining of ultrathin frozen sections, on the other hand, has generally been far inferior to that attainable in conventional plastic embedded sections, particularly in the definition of membranes. As we discussed before, a main cause of this difficulty seemed to be the vulnerability of frozen sections to the damaging effects of air-water surface tension at the time of drying of the sections.Indeed, we found that the quality of positive staining is greatly improved when positively stained frozen sections are protected against the effects of surface tension by embedding them in thin layers of mechanically stable materials at the time of drying (unpublished).

The accuracy and reliability is the quality of the information. The more accurate and reliable, the more information it’s good quality. Similarly, a survey, the better the survey, the more accurate the information provided. Implementation of student satisfaction measurement to the process of teaching and learning activities on the quality of the implementation of important lectures in order to get feedback on the assessed variables and for future repair. Likewise in Higher Education Prog has undertaken the process of measuring student satisfaction through a distributed questioner finally disemester each class lecture. However, the deployment process questioner is identified there are 7 (seven) problems. However, the problem can be resolved by the 3 (three) ways of solving problems one of which is a system of iLearning Survey (Isur), that is by providing an online survey to students that can be accessed anywhere and anytime. In the implementation shown a prototype of Isur itself. It can be concluded that the contribution Isur system can maximize the decision taken by the Higher Education Prog. By using this Isur system with questions and evaluation forms are submitted and given to the students and the other colleges. To assess the extent to which the campus has grown and how faculty performance in teaching students class, and can be used as a media Isur valid information for an assessment of activities throughout college.
