AbstractThis study aims to analyze grade 5 students’ knowledge regarding the meanings of fractions before and after a teaching experiment following an exploratory approach, with emphasis in problem solving. The participants are students from the same class. For data collection, two tests were used, pre-test and post-test, complemented with individual semi-structured interviews. The data indicate that, before the teaching experiment, the students had a very limited knowledge related to the meanings of fractions, in particular measure and quotient. They demonstrated only a few ideas associated with the part-whole relationship and operator, but this last meaning only at the procedural level. After the teaching experiment, these students showed some flexibility with all meanings of fractions, although the meaning of measure is still a challenge for one of them. Keywords: Rational numbers, Fractions, Meaning of fractions, Learning, Exploratory approach.ResumenEste estudio tiene como objetivo analizar el conocimiento de los estudiantes de quinto grado sobre el significado de las fracciones antes y después de una experiencia de enseñanza que sigue un enfoque exploratorio con énfasis en la resolución de problemas. This research is an experimental research with one group pre and posttest design.Subject design is 17 people from village of 21 candidates registered. Measuring tool used in this research is the scale of anti-corruption perception made by the researcher referring to the 9 anti-corruption values with the value of reliability coefficient of 0.871. The module used as an intervention made by the researcher refers to the transformational leadership dimension (Bass, 1990). The data collected is analyzed by statistical analysis of different test Paired Sample Test. Initial data collection results obtained sign value of 0.770 which means> 0.05 or no significant difference between anti-corruption perception score between before and after training. After a period of less than 1 (one) month then conducted again the measurement of follow-up of the study subjects in the measurement again using the scale of anti-corruption perception. The results of the second data collection were analysed with Paired Samples Test and obtained the value of 0.623 sign meaning p> 0.05 or no significant difference between post test data with follow-up data so that the hypothesis of this study was rejected.

This study reports an empirical study of an explicit instruction of corpus-aided Business English collocations and verifies its effectiveness in improving learners’ collocation awareness and learner autonomy, as a result of which is significant improvement of learners’ collocation competence. An eight-week instruction in keywords’ collocations, with the help of AntConc and self-constructed Business English Pedagogical Corpus combined with COCA general corpus and Wikipedia corpus, was imparted to 23 undergraduate learners majoring in Business English in Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. They took the collocation competence pre-test and post-test before and after the teaching experiment which was phased into two themes and submitted learning reflective journals at the end of each theme instruction and answered a questionnaire at the final end. The data from the tests, reflective journals and questionnaire collaboratively suggest that given appropriate guidance EFL Business English learners can take a more active role in raising their collocation awareness and developing learner autonomy and thus improve their collocation competence significantly. The results from the test analysis also indicate that the corpus-aided Business English collocation pedagogy is proved to be more effective for intermediate and advanced level learners rather than lower level ones. The findings have pedagogical implications for EFL Business English instructors and learners.

Station rotation model has recently become a promising innovation in education in which learners lead to deeper learning and problem-solving development (Jones, 2018). The study determined the effectiveness of station rotation model with ICT integration to enhance the problem solving skill of ninth grade students of ARMM Regional Science High School during five weeks of intervention. The data of this study were obtained from the pre-test and post-test with open-ended questions from Control and Experimental Groups. These tests were administered before and after the intervention and scored using rubric. Moreover, attitude test was answered by the students to provide feedbacks on the use of station rotation model with ICT integration. Results revealed that there is no significant difference in the post-test performances under the Control Group (K-12 teaching instruction) and the Experimental Group (SRM with ICT Integration), t (25) =-1.324, p=.197. At the end of the study, experimental group under station rotation model with ICT integration does not significantly enhance students’ problem solving skill in Physics.

With rising societal interest in the subject areas of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM), a micro:bit robotics course with an online group study (OGS) system was designed to foster student learning anytime and anywhere. OGS enables the development of a learning environment that combines real-world and digital-world resources, and can enhance the effectiveness of learning among students from a remote area. In this pre- and post-test experiment design, we studied 22 (8 males and 14 females) 5th grade students from a remote area of Taiwan. A t test performed before and after the robotics course showed a positive increase in students’ proportional reasoning, probabilistic reasoning, and ability to analyze a problem. Results also revealed a gender difference in the association between students’ logical reasoning and problem-solving ability.

Any changes in the system of an organization could be stressful. Having hardiness would be important to deal with a problem. This study aims to seek out the effectiveness of hardiness training in improving problemsolving. A quasi-experimental design with one group pretest-post test design was applied. There were sixteen employees of various organizational divisions enrolled in this study. Data were collected before and after the six-session of hardiness training using the Brief COPE scale and the Dispositional Resilience Scale (DRS-15) developed by Bertone. Results from the Wilcoxon signed-rank test showed that there was no significant difference in the attitude of the effectiveness of problem-solving among employees before and after training (p>0,05). However, there were differences in knowledge of understanding hardiness before and after training. (p=.002, p>0,05). It can be concluded that hardiness training could increase the knowledge about hardiness; but not the attitude toward problem-solving.
