Snack bars from black glutinous rice and yellow pumpkin powder has been developed. The aim of the research was to evaluate the effect of the snack bars to the lipid profile of white male rats Sprague dawley. The experimental design of the research was Pre-Post Test Randomized Control Group Design using 25 male white rats. The rats were divided randomly into 5 groups, which was Group 1 as negative control (standard feed), Group 2 as positive control (feed with lard for hyper cholesterolemia condition, Group 3 was treated with simvastatin (0.18 mg / 200gBB), Group 4 treated with snack bars A (450mg / kgBB) and Group 5 was treated with snack bars B (450mg / kg BB). The differences between snack bar A and B were the proportion of black glutinous rice and yellow pumpkin powder. The snack bar was given orally. Total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, and triglycerides after 14 days of the treatment. According to the statistical analysis (p<0.05), the results showed that group with simvastatin has no significant differences with group with snack bars A.  Group with simvastatin, snack bars A, and snack bars B significantly influence blood cholesterol levels, total cholesterol, triglyceride levels, and LDL levels.  Mainly, snack bars A could decline blood cholesterol as good as simvastatin. Snack bars A have a higher portion of black glutinous rice than snack bars B.

Objective: This study aimed to observe the effect of the 70% ethanol extract of Orthosiphonis stamineus Benth leaves on the pharmacokineticparameters of furosemide in white male rats.Methods: 18 Sprague–Dawley male rats were divided into three groups: The normal control group was given only 1% carboxymethyl cellulose,the furosemide group was given 7.2 mg/200 g body weight (BW) suspension of furosemide, and the combination group was given 700 mg/kg BWsuspension of the 70% ethanolic extract of O. stamineus Benth leaves for 4 days followed by a 7.2 mg/200 g BW suspension of furosemide. On the4th day of treatment, we performed orbital sinus blood sampling on the eyes of the rats and analyzed the levels of furosemide in plasma using highperformanceliquid chromatography.Results: Therefore, the results showed that the administration of the 70% ethanol extract of O. stamineus Benth leaves improves the pharmacokineticparameters of furosemide on Cpmax and the area under the curve (p<0.05).Conclusion: This study concludes that the 70% ethanol extract of O. stamineus Benth leaves improves the pharmacokinetic parameters of furosemidein white male rats.

The study was design to evaluate the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effect of snack bars that made of black glutinous rice and pumpkin powder and study on the male Sprague Dawley rats. Twenty-five male rats in between the age of 2 and 3 months were selected and randomly divided into 5 groups, which were positive control, negative control, group with sylimarin treatment, snack bars A and snack bars B. Carbon tetrachloride was used to induce hepatic damage. The results showed that group with CCl4 treatment has 3.04 ± 0.16 μmol/L MDA while group with Sylimarin, snack bars A, snack bars B were 0.49 ± 0.05; 0.54 ± 0.05; and 1.15 ± 0.16 μmol/L MDA, respectively. The snack bars had the capacity to decline the damage in liver as much as Sylimarin (standardized natural medicine for hepatotoxicity). The SGPT (Serum Glutamin Pyruvic Transaminase) of the two treatment was 22.24 ± 0.80 U/I for Sylimarin and 22.33 ± 1.03 U/I for snack bars while SGOT (Serum Glutamic Oxaloacetic Transaminase) was 40.78 ± 0.77 U/I for Sylimarin and 40.88 ± 1.25 U/I for snack bars A. Snack bars B has a significantly different value on final SGOT and SGPT.

Objective: The effect of Pimpinela alpina Molk (PaM) on decrease in Bax and Caspase-3 protein expression in liver cells apoptosis have been proven. However, the difference result between 7 and 15 days treatment duration of PaM need to be confirmed. This study aimed to confirm that treatment of PaM during 15 days is more effective decreasing Bax and Caspase-3 protein expression in liver cells following UVB irradiation. Methods: In the post test only control group design, 35 Sprague Dawley male rats, 300 gram body weight were divided into two arms, consisting of three groups respectively. First arm comprise Neg-7, PaM7-100, and PaM7-150. Second arm comprise Neg-15, PaM15-100, and PaM15-150. Nor-G was added as normal control neither exposed to UVB nor PaM treatment. In negative group was only radiated to UVB and PaM groups were exposed to UVB and treatment with 100, and 150 mg PaM per oral for 7 and 15 days respectively. At day 8 (first arm) and 16 (second arm), liver organ was taken and Bax and Caspase-3 protein expression assessed by Immunohistochemical staining method. Result: Post Hoc LSD analysis indicated that Bax and Caspase-3 protein expression in PaM15-100 and PaM15-150 was significant lower compared to that of Nor-G, PaM7-100, and PaM7-150, p < 0.05. Conclusion: Ttreatment of PaM with doses 100 and 150 mg for 15 days was better in decreasing Bax and Caspase-3 protein expression of liver cells following UVB irradiation. Abstract High blood cholesterol is often called hypercholesterolemia is a risk factor for the emergence of pathological conditions such as heart and blood vessel disease. Hypercholesterolemia has an important role in the occurrence of damage to the endothelial cells is mainly caused by oxidized LDL. Oxidation of LDL triggers the formation of TNF - ?. Leaves messengers that allegedly contains flavonoids can improve the situation of hypercholesterolemia through the barriers specifically the expression of TNF - ? increased due to hypercholesterolemia. Plants messengers known to contain alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, polyphenols, calcium oxalate, fats, and essential oil. Flavonoids which has the ability to bind the atom to form free radicals not to excess free radicals, thereby inhibiting the oxidative modification of LDL become ox-LDL so it will not be formed atherosclerosis. This study uses the Randomize pattern Pre and Post Test Control Group Design, using white rats (Rattusnovergicus) with Wistar strain aged 3-4 months, weighing 175-200 grams. Divided into four groups: Group I as a control with placebo, Group II treatment using extracts of ethanol leaves a messenger at a concentration of 10%, Group III treatments using extracts of ethanol leaves a messenger at a concentration of 20%, Group IV is to use the extract ethanol leaves errand at a concentration of 30%. It can be concluded at 4 dose group 30% messengers leaf extract significantly different, p <0.05, so it can be said that the provision of effective messengers extract at a dose of 30%.

<p>Hypercholesterolemia is a major cause of cardiovascular disease such as coronary heart disease. Betel water (Peperomia pellucida) is a type of plants that have antioxidant compounds that could delay, retard and prevent the oxidation of lipids, both enzymatic and non-enzymatic. This study aimed to determine the effect of ethanol extract Peperomia pellucida against total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, and triglycerides in the serum of white rats (Wistar) were given a diet aterogenetik, so it can be used as prevention of atherosclerosis. The active compounds contained in the water after screnning betel phytochemicals includes flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids, steroids and quinones. In vivo studies conducted by true experimental method with pre and post test with control group design. Rats were divided into 3 groups: group A positive control is given aterogenetik diet, group B and C were given diet Peperomia Pellucida aterogenetik and extract orally at a dose of 150 mg/kg and 300 mg/kg. Diet aterogenetik given as much as 20 grams per day for 14 days. Data obtained include total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, and triglycerides were analyzed by statistical methods Paired T Test oneway ANOVA (P &lt; 0,05). The study of total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides showed ethanol extract of Peperomia pellucida at a dose of 300 mg/kg body weight can lower total cholesterol and LDL significantly, but there was no significant decline in triglycerides and can increase HDL levels.</p>

The research purpose was to analysis effect of giving mahkota dewa fruits (Phaleria macrocarpa) extract to epithelialization in incision wound of white rats (Rattus norvegicus). The method was randomized posted-only control group design. There were 30 male rats (Rattus norvegicus) grouped on control and treatment group. Control group divided into three groups (KK1, KK2, KK3) and also treatment group divided into three groups (KP1, KP2, KP3). Control group just given CMC 1% peroral without mahkota dewa fruits extract, the treatment group given mahkota dewa fruits extract 22.5 mg/kg body weight. The data was analyzed by Kruskall Wallis. Based on Kruskall Wallis test, obtained result that there was a significant difference (p<0.05) epithelialization variable with p value p = 0.000 between control and treatment group. And based on One-way Anova test, obtained result that there was a significant difference (p<0.05) with p value p =0.000 between control and treatment group. <p>Anemia is still a high prevalence disease in Indonesia, caused by a lack of iron in the body. The components from brown seaweed such as cobalamin (vitamin B12), pyridoxine (vitamin B6), chlorophyll and iron (Fe) can increase red blood cells in the body. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of brown seaweed (<em>Sargassum duplicatum</em>) which can increase hematocrit levels in the blood of white male wistar strain rat (<em>Rattus norvegicus</em>) suffered from anemia in induction NaNO<sub>2</sub>.</p><p>            This research uses an experimental laboratory method with a post test only control group design. The samples were 30 male rats divided into 3 treatment groups, the negative control group (K<sub>0</sub>) without treatment, the positive control (K<sub>1</sub>) be treated anemia given NaNO<sub>2</sub> for 18 days without <em>Sargassum duplicatum </em>extract and treatment group (K<sub>2</sub>) treated with anemia given NaNO<sub>2</sub> for 18 days without <em>Sargassum duplicatum </em>extract at a dose of 2,45gr / kgBB. On the 40<sup>th</sup> day, a blood sample was taken, then measured the hematocrit level.</p><p>            The results showed that the mean number of blood hematocrit levels in K<sub>2</sub> was higher than K<sub>1</sub>, it showed a significant difference descriptively. Based on the Kruskal-Wallis test, a value of 0.260 was obtained that p &gt; 0,05 showed that there were no statistically significant differences between groups of experimental animals.</p><p>            From the results of this research, the conclusion is the administration of brown seaweed extract (<em>Sargassum duplicatum</em>) descriptively increased, but not statistically significant.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Keywords :</strong> Anemia, hematocrit, <em>Sargassum duplicatum</em>, NaNO<sub>2</sub></p>

Dyslipidemia is a coronary heart disease risk factor. Dyslipidemia is characterized by the elevated levels of LDL, triglycerides, total cholesterol, and the decrease in HDL. Ginger rhizome (Curcuma xanthorriza Roxb.) and bay leaf (Eugenia polyantha Wight.) are local plants that have the abilities to decrease total cholesterol. This research design was true experimental with pre- and post-control group design. Criteria of sample were white rats, wistar strain, male, age of 8-12 weeks, and body weight range of 150-200 grams. Sampling method was simple random sampling. The experimental rats were acclimatized for seven days. Hypercholesterol diet was fed two weeks, and then the rats were given intervention and get hypercholesterol diet for two weeks. During intervention, the experimental rats were divided into 6 groups of administrationi.e, rats administered with 1) carboxymethil celluse/CMC, 2) simvastatin 0,9 mg/kg BW/day, 3) ginger rhizome extract 200 mg /kg BW/day, 4) ginger rhizome extract 400 mg/kg BW/day, 5) bay leaf extract 200 mg/kg BW/day, and 6) bay leaf extract 400 mg/kg BW/day. Blood samples were taken from caudal vein and total cholesterol levels were measured by spectrophotometry. The analysis used paired T test, One Way ANOVA test. The results showed ginger rhizome extract did not effectively reduce total cholesterol. However, bay leaf extract effectively decreased total cholesterol levels with the highest total cholesterol reduction was found in rats administered with dose of 400 mg/kg BW/day i.e, 15.4 mg/dl. Bay leaf extract have the same effectivity with simvastatin as a standard drug in lowering cholesterol level.

AbstractBackground : Diabetes mellitus is the most common metabolic syndrome in the whole world with an incidence of 1-8%. This disease arises when insufficient insulin is produced or insulin cannot function properly.The ability of coriander juice water extract is expected to reduce blood glucose levels because the action is similar to insulin and can stimulate insulin release. Purpose : Knowing effectiveness coriander extract (Coriandrum sativum L.)to decline blood sugar levels in male white rats (Rattus norvegicus L.) wistar strain induced by alloxan. Method : This is a pure experimental study (true-experiment) using a pre and post test design with control group design using subjects namely white rats (Rattus norvegicus L.) male Wistar strain aged 10-12 weeks with a weight of 150-200 grams. By looking at changes in blood sugar levels during administration of alloxan and administration of coriander extract. Results : There were significant changes in some groups induced alloxan (p <0.05), but the effect of coriander extract was not very significant (p> 0.05). Conclusion : Coriander extract can control blood sugar levels to be stable or normal, but it takes longer and more research.  Keywords : coriander extract, blood sugar levels, alloxan
