Civic Education is one of the courses that carry the mission of character education. Compared to other courses, Civic Education course play an important role in teaching character education, meaning that in both courses, character education must be the lecture’s main goal. Civic education is a field of study that carries out the national mission to educate Indonesian people through value-based education. One of the adaptive models in improving the quality of civic education as a manifestation of character building is through Project Citizen. This study aims to determine the effect of project citizen model in the learning interest of students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Sciences (FKIP) University of Jambi (UNJA) in learning civic education as an embodiment of character education. The type of research is an experimental research which is used in Pre-Experimental Design using the Intact Group Comparison draft. In this design, one group of study was divided into a treatment group and a non-treatment group. The population of the study was all of FKIP UNJA students, while the sample was students of class A of the Department of Early Childhood Education (PAUD). The research instrument used was a learning interest questionnaire with questions and statements measured using a Likert scale. The data was then analyzed by the T-test using SPSS 21 software for Windows. Based on the result, it can be concluded that the project citizen model has a significant effect on FKIP UNJA students’ learning interest in learning civic education as an embodiment of character education.

AbstractCivic Education is a very important subject in efforts to build the nation's character. Character building through Civics includes integrating character values in lectures. Value clarification techniques are considered superior for affective learning (learning to form attitudes/values). Through value clarification, learning activities no longer require students to memorize and understand the values that have been chosen by others but are assisted in finding, analyzing, taking responsibility, developing, choosing, taking attitudes, and practising the values in their own lives. This research is a pre-experimental research design. The method used in this research is the Intact Group Comparison design method. The research subjects were students of the Department of Early Childhood Education (PAUD) UNJA who took the general course of civic education. Subjects were divided into 2 groups, namely the control group using the conventional approach, and the experimental group using the Value clarification techniques. The instrument used in this study is a test instrument. The collected data were analyzed using the t-test. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the integration of character education in civic education courses through Value clarification techniques is more effective than conventional ones._________AbstrakPendidikan Kewarganegaraan merupakan mata kuliah yang sangat penting dalam upaya pembangunan karakter bangsa. Pembangunan karakter melalui PKn di antaranya pengintegrasian nilai-nilai karakter dalam perkuliahan. Teknik klarifikasi nilai dianggap lebih unggul untuk pembelajaran afektif (pembelajaran pembentukan sikap/nilai). Melalui pengklarifikasian nilai, kegiatan pembelajaran tidak lagi sekedar menuntut peserta didik agar hafal dan paham akan nilai-nilai yang sudah dipilihkan pihak lain, melainkan dibantu untuk mencari, menganalisa, mempertanggung jawabkan, mengembangkan, memilih, mengambil sikap, dan mengamalkan nilai-nilai dalam kehidupannya sendiri. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian Pre-Eksperimental Design. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode rancangan Intact Group Comparison. Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa Jurusan Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD) UNJA yang mengikuti mata kuliah umum PKn. Subjek dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok yakni kelompok kontrol dengan menggunakan pendekatan konvensional, dan eksperimen menggunakan Teknik klarifikasi nilai. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah instrumen tes. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji t. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan pengintegrasian pendidikan karakter dalam mata kuliah PKn melalui Teknik klarifikasi nilai lebih efektif dibandingkan dengan konvensional.

This writing deals with developing moral values by the ‘project citizen’ through several stages of its learning. Hopefully this article could act its role in enlightening and motivating for the teachers to be able to use this model later. Starting from the idea of character building by John Dewey (1859-1952) through the flow of Progressivism. He explains that "schools should make students as citizens to be more democratic, free thinking and intelligent". It can be interpreted that the role of the school as an institution must provide learning that can develop a wide range of student competence. The most appropriate learning strategies to achieve what is thought of this school is by using learning model of ‘project citizen’. This model is basically based on the strategy of inquiry learning, discovery learning, problem solving, and research-oriented learning. From the experiments which conducted, using the model is able to achieve competency in the subject of Civic Education. The model of project citizen learning has become the best model, which is able to develop the character of students through the process of participative learning. Therefore, educating character as a pillar of our national education goals, could be developed through the learning model of project citizen.

ABSTRACTThe decline in the quality of the nation's character is characterized by the number of cases popping up that are not in accordance with norm values such as; rampant corruption, theft, murder, rape and juvenile delinquency cases such as brawls, free sex and drug abuse, to overcome this it is necessary to character education for children from an early age. The purpose of writing to find out how to improve the character of the nation based on Evidence Based. In the process of searching literature, several databases are used such as Pubmed, NCBI, goole shoolar and sciencedirect. It is expected that parents will set an example and instill good character in children and play a useful role playing game and prevent children from seeing unfavorable characters in the environment. With character education will develop the basic potential to be kind, think well, and behave well. Cases of student brawling, pornography to drug use by students are still concern today. Meanwhile, concerns about the quality of education in our country are increasing because the influence of technology is growing rapidly but it is not being used to the fullest for learning needs. Therefore we need solutions to improve the quality of learning by using information technology. Vocational high school multimedia study program offers the solution of culturally charged religious games, religious education and expertise. Making this religion game was directed by a multimedia productive teacher assisted by both religious and Indonesian Language teacher because the production of religious video game is the result of combining religion, narration and video game making skills. Video game religion can begin with an observation of social and religious life in schools or homes. Literacy can be done to help giving new ideas and value to character, morals and religion. Through the manufacture of religion games, it is expected that students interchange every existing role while learning religion. In addition to video games production can enhance students’ skills and accomplishments in multimedia majors. The study set out to describe the creation of a game of religion that features the values of character education and Indonesian Language education in multimedia skills programs and make an attractive learning model

E-module is one of educational technology developments that can improve the quality of the teaching process. This study aims to develop an e-module based application Flip Book Maker in the Pancasila Education coursework. Research method using Borg and Gall development model. This research is divided into three stages: (a) needs assessment; (b) development of Flip Book Maker based e-module on Character Education chapter; and (3) trial and effectiveness test of Flip Book Maker based e-module on Character Education chapter. The results showed that the Flip Book Maker based e-module on Character Education chapter in Pancasila Education coursework is effective for strengthening student character and also effective in improving learning outcomes.

Imperative politeness is one of focus in character building education. This is because language politeness or in spoken language is part of main pilars in character education. Based on the research, students of teacher training and education faculty in State Islamic Institute Pontianak showed the students tend less polite in spoken. This reveals from their imperative spoken in interaction among them. Meanwhile their spoken language that they used represents their characteristics and become problematic because they are studying at teacher training and education faculty in State Islamic Institute Pontianak in which is place for graduating candidate of teachers. In methodology, this research is qualitative with pragmatic approach. In the research, method of collecting data used method of listening and capability. Object of the research is students who study at teacher training and education faculty in State Islamic Institute Pontianak.

This study aims to reveal and describe concept of character building in Riau Malay community. The problem that will be studied is what character building contained in the book Pandangan Orang Melayu terhadap Anak (Malay View of Children) and how the character education is related to the sociocultural life of the Riau Malay community. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with descriptive approach. The qualitative method is carried out by interpreting the text and presenting it in the form of a description. The quality of interpretation in qualitative methods is associated with the nature of social facts. Therefore, this study also uses the sociology of literature theory. The source of the data in this study is the book of Pandangan Orang Melayu terhadap Anak (Malay Views on Children). The result shows that the concept of character building in Riau Malay culture does not only teach character to children but also to parents towards children. Based on the sociology of literature approach, it can also be seen that character building for children in Riau Malay culture is closely related to customs and culture characterized by Islam. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengungkap dan mendeskripsikan konsep pendidikan karakter pada masyarakat Melayu Riau. Masalah yang akan diteliti adalah pendidikan karakter apa saja yang terdapat dalam buku Pandangan Orang Melayu terhadap Anak dan bagaimana kaitan pendidikan karakter yang tergambarkan dalam buku tersebut dengan kehidupan sosiobudaya masyarakat Melayu Riau. Metode yang dipergunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Metode kualitatif dilakukan dengan cara penafsirkan teks dan menyajikannya dalam bentuk deskripsi. Kualitas penafsiran dalam metode kualitatif dikaitkan dengan hakikat fakta-fakta sosial. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini juga menggunakan teori sosiologi sastra. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah buku Pandangan Orang Melayu terhadap Anak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsep pendidikan karakter dalam budaya Melayu Riau tidak hanya mengajarkan budi pekerti kepada anak, tetapi juga mengajarkan budi pekerti kepada orang tua terhadap anak. Berdasarkan pendekatan sosiologi sastra juga dapat diketahui bahwa pendidikan karakter kepada anak dalam budaya Melayu Riau berkaitan erat dengan adat dan budaya yang bercirikan Islam.

AbstrakTulisan ini akan membahas tentang eksistensi pendidikan karakter di sekolah dalam konsep full day school. Sekolah merupakan lembaga yang berperan sebagai penyelenggara pendidikan dan pengembangan ilmu, pengetahuan, teknologi dan seni. Tujuan pendidikan ialah membentuk kepribadian, kemandirian, keterampilan social dan karakter. Oleh sebab itu, berbagai program dirancang dan diimplementasikan untuk mewujudkan tujuan pendidikan tersebut, terutama dalam rangka pembinaan karakter. Full day school akhir-akhir ini yang menjadi kontro versi dikalangan masyarakat pun menempati tempat ternyaman. Character education in higher education aims to improve the quality of implementation and educational outcomes that lead to the achievement of the formation of the character and noble character of students as a whole, integrated and balanced according to graduate competency standards. Through character education, students are expected to be able to independently improve and use their knowledge, study and internalize character values ​​so that they are manifested in daily behavior. The implementation of character education has its own problems, namely the existence of unsynchronization between the concepts of character education, which aims to restore the culture and character of the nation which is increasingly deteriorating with the reality faced. Character education in higher education is everything done by a lecturer, able to influence the character of students. This includes many things about the exemplary of a lecturer be it behavior, speech, tolerance, integrity and others related to character. The campus environment as an escort institution for character building for students, has potentials that will contribute to the processes, so synergy is needed together in coaching from all campus residents. In teaching character building, lecturers can integrate it naturally with the standard curriculum or teach it in tandem with the standard curriculum. All lecturers in all subjects should be figures who practice the formation of this character in all activities in the classroom and outside the classroom.

Character education is a system of instilling character values including knowledge, awareness, and actions to implement these values to the Almighty God, ourselves, others, the environment, human and nationality to become perfect man. Character education is an effort that should involve all parties, the household and the family, the school and the school environment, the community at large. It is used to improve the quality of the implementation and education results leading to the achievement of character building and morals that are holistic, integrated and balanced. This can be integrated in the learning in each subject. Instructional material relating to norms or values on each subject needs to be developed explicitly associated with the daily context. Character education can build national awareness and encourage students’ innovation and creativity. Beside, the values that must be built within the next generation are honesty, hard works, respect, cooperation, tolerance and discipline. In addition, the development of learner’s potentials can create a faithful man and fear of God Almighty, noble, healthy, knowledgeable, skilled, creative, independent, and democratic and responsible citizens. The formulation of these objectives reflects the growing expectations of the various parties to the education as the social agent instrument of human resource development.
