Needs analysis was conducted in Polytechnic of Energy and Mineral with the aim of identifying the students’ English needs. This was conducted by analysing the present English learning and teaching material and the needs of the material the students expect in order to perform effectively in the target situation. In conducting the analysis, a mixed method design was used in which it integrates the quantitative method and qualitative method. The questionnaires were used as the instruments for collecting the data from the alumni who had already worked in the petroleum industry and from the students who were still studying at Polytechnic of Energy and Mineral. The qualitative data from the alumni showed that English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills were really needed in the petroleum industry. Then, the quantitative data and the qualitative data from the students showed that the present English learning and teaching material had already guided them in obtaining the English skills required in the petroleum industry. However, the qualitative data also showed that the listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities in the material still needed to be improved in terms of the quantity, variety, and levels of difficulty. The feeling of empathy is as old as the humankind. Empathy is an attempt to perceive the emotions and to understand the thoughts of other individuals and discern their point of view. Due to such aspects, empathy presents “a focus on other individuals”. In general terms, empathy was defined as “adopting a sensitive attitude towards correctly understanding the emotions and thoughts of another individual, encountering any event, through placing oneself in the place of that individual during the process of communication.”The present study was intended to determine the effects of the communication and immigration subjects in the 7th grade social studies course on the empathy skills of students through employing the didactic approach, which is one of the techniques for empathy development.Concurrent nested (embedded) design, a mixed research method, was employed in the present study. Mixed-method research is defined as the approach through which the researcher draws conclusions by using the advantage of integrating qualitative and quantitative methods, approaches and concepts in a study or consecutive studies with the aim to understand diverse research models. The quantitative data in the present study were obtained via the “Index of Empathy for Children and Adolescents”, whereas the qualitative data were collected through interview forms.Almost all students emphasized the significance of empathy and understanding the feelings of the migrants for understanding the causes and consequences of immigration throughout the activities related to immigration.

This study was aimed at identifying the factors that caused students of the athletes of the Faculty of Sport Sciences, Semarang State University (UNNES) to carry out procrastination actions in the preparation of the thesis and create a measure of academic procrastination in the preparation of thesis. This study used a mixed method with a sequential exploratory design. The population in this study were the students of Faculty of Sport Sciences, 2010, 2011 and 2012 UNNES who were preparing a thesis. The sampling method used was purposive random sampling. The qualitative data were gathered using questionnaires and interviews, while for quantitative data using the scale of academic procrastination made by the researchers themselves based on the results of qualitative data analysis. Qualitative data analysis technique used was interactive models while Lisrel item analysis was used to analyze quantitative data to confirm which factors had an influence on academic procrastination. The results show that 3 factors causing procrastination namely physical, psychological, and environmental factors. The factors that have the highest influence on academic procrastination are psychic aspects, namely internal factors in each athlete.ANALISIS FAKTOR PENYEBAB PROKRASTINASI AKADEMIK DALAM PENYUSUNAN SKRIPSI PADA MAHASISWA ATLETTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor penyebab mahasiswa atlet Fakultas Ilmu Keolahragaan, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) melakukan tindakan prokrastinasi dalam penyusunan skripsi serta membuat alat ukur prokrastinasi akademik penyusunan skripsi.

The e-learning program is a new program implemented at the early childhood education level. The teacher of the main character in the application of e-learning has a dilemma in running this program. The focus of the study identified the consistency of early childhood education teachers in implementing e-learning programs during the Covid-19 pandemic. Using quantitative methods with purposive sampling technique. Data obtained through interviews (G-Form) with respondents 50 ECE teachers in the city of Surakarta. Field facts are that there is no teacher consistency in implementing e-learning programs such as the absence of daily or weekly learning plans in implementing e-learning, uncertain teaching schedules, and unsupported learning media. This shows that 80% of ECE teachers implement e-learning and 20% implement mixed learning. Teacher consistency can be improved through training provided by the government, provision of educational facilities by schools, learning innovations according to health protocols and initial motivation to teach

The great Greek philosopher Aristotle noted that learning is the outcome of teaching and practice. Clearly, learning is not confined to classroom lectures exclusively. In the past several decades, educators explored the possibilities of providing learning experiences to remote students. With the improvements in technology and the growing popularity of Internet use, online learning caught the attention of both corporations and educational institutions. In this chapter, we will discuss the two common approaches higher education institutions pursue when implementing online learning programs and provide the rationale for their success or failure. Following, we will define, propose, and categorize a set of eight key elements of a successful online learning program implementation in an era of decreased funding. The following chapter also contains a case study about the development of a successful, self-funding, online learning program in the college of business administration at a state university in the Southeast US, followed by a summary and discussion.
