This research is aimed at identifying the students’ ability in reading by using scaffolding teaching model. This is an experimental research that was carried out at senior high school. There were three senior high schools in Padang that became the location of the research, namely SMAN 1, SMAN 7 and SMAN 8 Padang.  The population for this research consisted of the students studying at grade X at the three schools respectively. Meanwhile, the sample was taken by using cluster random sampling technique. The whole number of sample was 192 students, namely, 64 students studying at each school. The research instrument used in this research was reading test consisting of 30 items. After carrying the research for about three months the researcher found the result as follows. The findings of the research indicated that the students’ reading achievement taught by scaffolding model was better than those who were taught by conventional model. To prove it, the researcher used t-test formula. The result showed that scaffolding model gave significant effect towards the students reading ability compared to the conventional one.

The purpose of this research is to know whether Paragraph Shrinking Strategy gave or did not give significant effect on students’ reading ability. This research was an expemerintal research which is posttest-only control group design. The population of the research was Eight Graders of SMP N 2 Kec. Luak Payakumbuh. The sample was choosen by using cluster random sampling technique. The experimental class was treated by using Paragraph Shrinking Strategy while the control class was treated by using conventional strategy. The instrument of this research was reading test in multiplechoice form. This instrument was valid because it had content validity which had been taught before and it is sbased on the syllabus. Then, this instrument was reliable because the writer had done try out and split half reliability. Next, to analyze the data, the writer used the t-test formula that suggested by Gay to answer the hypothesis. It found that t-test (6.13) and t-table (2.021). It means that t-test was bigger than t-table. On the other word, Alternative Hypothesis (H1) was accepted and Null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. So, it can be concluded that Paragragraph Shrinking Strategy gave significant effect to teaching and learning process and can increase students’ reading ability.

The research uses factorial design, aims to find out the effect of discovery method on the analogy achievement and mathematical generalization of students of SMKN 1 Sakra. The population of this study was all students of SMKN 1 Sakra, and the research sample was taken using the Cluster Random Sampling technique, namely by looking for class XII students, two classes to be sampled. This study consisted of two groups, namely learning the discovery method and the expository method. Class XII.A was made as an experimental group, while class XII.B was made as a control group. Each class consists of 36 students who are divided into three different abilities of students, namely high achievers, medium achievers and low grade students. Research data were collected through tests, questionnaires, observations and interviews. The results of this study are an increase in the ability of mathematical analogies of students who obtain learning using the discovery method better than students who obtain the expository method.

This study aims: 1) to determine differences in science process skills of students with learning model inquiry training and conventional learning models, 2) to determine the difference science process skills of students who have high creativity and creativity is low, 3) to determine the interaction model of learning inquiry trainingwith creativity of the science process skills. The sampling technique conducted cluster random sampling two classes, where first class as a class experiment with the number of students 32 people applied learning model inquiry training (X-1) and the second class as a class control the number of students 32 people who applied conventional learning model ( X-2). Instruments in this study is the science process skills test and a test of creativity in the form of a description. From these results it can be concluded that: 1) science process skills of students that learned with a learning model inquiry training is better than the students that learned with conventional learning models, 2)science process skills of students with high creativity better than students with creativity is low, 3) there is interaction between inquirylearning model training and creativity in influencing the science process skills of students.

IBT techniques is series of activities that involved maximally throughout the student's ability to search and investigate in a systematic, critical, logical, analytical, so that they can formulate their own discoveries with confidence the search of knowledge and understanding to satisfy curiosity. IBT technique is also supposed to the teachers be creative to set situations. This method used was quasi experimental design. The purposive sampling technique was used on this study. The data were collected by reading test. The collected data was analyzed by using paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test. The results showed that the students reading ability was improved and there was a significant difference between the students who were taught by using IBT and those who were not. With IBT technique encouraged students to take the initiative to have question the phenomenon, to conduct field observations, to analyze the data, and to draw conclusions. Thus, it is to integrate students and synergize various skills of language and different methods.

This research was designed to describe the ability of the second year students to comprehend reading text according to the levels of question at SMAN 1 Sijunjung. To be more specific it aimed at describing students’ ability to comprehend reading text according to the levels of comprehension questions. This research was descriptive research. The population of this research was the second year students at SMAN 1 Sijunjung. The number of members of population was 165 students. The researcher took 80 students as the sample. In selecting sample, the researcher used stratified cluster random sampling technique. The data of this research were the students’ scores on comprehending text according to the levels of question. To take the data, the researcher used reading test. In analyzing the data, there were some steps she used: the first was presentation of raw scores and calculation of Mean and Standard Deviation. The second was classifying the students’ ability into high, moderate, and low ability. The third was determining the percentage of the students who had high, moderate, and low ability. The result of the data analysis showed that the ability of the second year students to comprehend reading text according to the levels of question at SMAN 1 Sijunjung was moderate. It was proved by the fact that 41 students (51.25%) had moderate ability. Specifically, the ability of the students to comprehend reading text at the level of comprehension questions was moderate. . It was proved by the fact that 55 students (68.75%) had moderate ability. Based on the findings above, it was suggested that the teachers give more exercises, beginning from the low levels of question to the high levels of question. It was also suggested to the teachers that they must promote a discussion to answer the questions on the texts being taught.

Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui: (1) kemampuan membaca bahasa Jerman siswa yang diajar dengan strategi pembelajaran kelompok lenih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa yang diajar dengan strategi pembejaran individual, (2) kemampuan membaca bahasa Jerman siswa yang memiliki motivasi belajar tinggi lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa yang memiliki motivasi belajar rendah, dan (3) interaksi antara strategi pembelajaran dan motivasi belajar terhadap kemampuan membaca bahasa Jerman. Populasi penelitian ini adalah 160 siswa dari 4 kelas X SMA N 17 Medan dan berdasarkan teknik cluster random sampling 80 siswa terpilih sebagai sampel. Instrumen penelitian untuk kemampuan membaca adalah 40 butir soal pilihan berganda dengan 5 pilihan jawaban dan untuk motivasi belajar digunakan angket motivasi belajar. Desain penelitian adalah faktorial 2x2 dan teknik analisis data adalah Analisis Varians (ANAVA) dua jalur pada taraf signifikansi a = 0.05. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Kemampuan membaca siswa yang diajar dengan strategi pembelajaran kolaboratif lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan hasil belajar Fisika siswa yang diajarkan dengan strategi pembelajaran individu, (2) kemampuan membaca siswa dengan motivasi belajar tinggi lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kemampuan membaca siswa dengan motivasi belajar rendah, dan (3) interaksi antara strategi pembelajaran dengan motivasi belajar dalam mempengaruhi kemampuan membaca. Kata Kunci: strategi pembelajaran, motivasi belajar, kemampuan membaca, bahasa jerman. Abstract: The objectives of research were to discover: (1) the students reading ability were taught in German language with group instructional strategy and individual instructional strategy, (2) the students reading ability who have high motivation learning than that having low motivationlearning, and (3) whether there was an interaction between learning strategy and motivation learning on students reading ability. The population of the study was 160 students from three classes Grade X State 17th Senior High School Medan and based on cluster random sampling technique 80 students were chosen as the sample. The research instrument used to test the reading ability in German language was a 40 items multiple choice with five options and a test of motivation learning used questioner motivation learning. The design of the research was 2x2 factorial while and the technique of data analysis was a two-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at the level of significance a = 0.05. The results of data analisysis showed that: (1) the students reading ability were taught in German language with group instructional strategy and individual instructional, (2) the students reading ability who have high motivation learning than that having low motivation learning, and (3) there was an interaction between learning strategy and motivation in affecting students reading ability in german language Keywords: learning strategy, learning motivation, reading ability, german language.

The current study was aimed at finding the effect of teaching models and an authentic assessment on football skill learning achievement by controlling motor educability. The sample consisted of 142 students of Physical Education Health Department that were selected randomly. The study used the 2x2 factorial experimental design, while the data were analyzed using 2-way ANACOVA. The results showed that after controlling motor educability, football skill learning achievement of the students who learned through the Cooperative Learning type Jigsaw model was higher than those who learned through the conventional model; the football skill learning achievement of those who were assessed by portfolio assessment was better than those who were assessed by authentic assessment. There was also an interaction between the teaching model and an authentic assessment on football skill learning achievement. The students who learned through the Cooperative Learning type jigsaw model was more appropriately assessed by portfolio assessment, while those who learned through the conventional learning model was more appropriately assessed by performance assessment.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan prestasi belajar antara siswa yang diberikan model pembelajaran Learning Cycle 5E dan Learning Together dikombinasikan dengan Drill and Practice;  siswa yang memiliki keterampilan proses tinggi dan keterampilan proses rendah; serta interaksi antara pembelajaran Learning Cycle 5E dan Learning Together dikombinasi dengan Drill and Practice dengan keterampilan proses siswa terhadap prestasi belajar siswa pada materi pokok hidrolisis garam. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari dua kelas siswa (XI MIA 1 dan XI MIA 3) yang ditentukan dengan menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Data diperoleh melalui tes tertulis, angket, observasi. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa: (1) siswa yang diberikan penerapan model pembelajaran Learning Cycle 5E memiliki prestasi belajar yang lebih baik dibandingkan siswa yang diberikan penerapan model pembelajaran Learning Together yang dikombinasikan dengan Drill and Practice; (2) siswa yang memiliki keterampilan proses tinggi memiliki prestasi belajar yang lebih baik dibandingkan siswa yang memiliki keterampilan proses rendah; dan (3) terdapat interaksi antara model pembelajaran Learning Cycle 5E dan Learning Together yang dikombinasikan dengan Drill and Practice dengan keterampilan proses siswa. Comparison Study of Learning Cycle 5E and Learning Together Combined With Drill and Practice on Student Achievement in Hydrolysis of Salt Viewed from Process Skill AbstractThe aim of this study were to know differences student’s achievement between Learning Cycle 5E models and Learning Together in combination with Drill and Practice; student’s achievement between higher process skill and lower process skill; and interaction between Learning Cycle 5E and Learning Together in combination with Drill and Practice models with process skill towards student’s achievement. This research is a quantitative research with experimental method. The sample consists of 2 class which taken by cluster random sampling technique. The techniques of collecting data using documentation, test, questionnaire, and observation. Based on result of the research can be concluded that: (1) student’s achievement of chemistry learning use Learning Cycle 5E better than Learning Together in combination with Drill and Practice models; (2) student’s achievement higher process skill better than lower process skill; and (3) there was an interaction between Learning Cycle 5E and Learning Together in combination with Drill and Practice models with process skill towards student’s achievement.

It was also suggested to the teachers that they must promote a discussion to answer the questions on the texts being taught.

This research was aimed to find out the effectiveness of using Think Pair Share (TPS) strategy in teaching reading at the second semester students of IKIP Mataram. Research design was quasi-experimental with nonequivalent control group design. The sample of the research was 79 students and it was taken by using cluster random sampling technique and the data gathering used multiple choice items that consist of 20 items. The data analysis used t-test formulation. Based on the data analysis, t-test score was 1.804 and t-table 1.664 with signification level 5% and degree of freedom N – 2 = 79 – 2 = 77. It means that t-test was higher than t-table (1.804 > 1.664). Therefore alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. So, there was significant effect of using Think Pair Share (TPS) strategy in teaching reading at the second semester students of IKIP Mataram.
