Advances in computer technology have created opportunities for the development of a multimedia situational test in which responses are filmed with a webcam. This paper examined the relationship of a so-called webcam test with personality, cognitive ability, job experience, and academic performance. Data were collected among 153 psychology students. In line with our expectations, scores on the webcam test, intended to measure interpersonally oriented leadership, were related to extraversion, conscientiousness, emotional stability, and job experience. Furthermore, the webcam tests significantly predicted students’ learning activities during group meetings over and above a cognitive ability test and a personality questionnaire. Overall, this study demonstrates that webcam tests can be a valid complement to traditional predictors in selection contexts.

This research is a correlational study that examines the relationship between cognitive style and habits of mind. The research subjects involved 4th semester students in the Department of Mathematics Education at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training of UIN Suska Riau which consisted of students with heterogeneous academic abilities. Cognitive style data was collected using the GEFT question instrument with test techniques. Habits of mind data were collected using a questionnaire instrument with a questionnaire distribution technique. The data analysis technique begins with the Pearson Product Moment correlation test which is continued with the significance test and the calculation of the magnitude of the relationship that occurs using the coefficient of determination. Because the data is positively correlated, it continues with determining the linear regression equation. The results showed that there was a significant weak correlation between cognitive style and habits of mind with a relationship score of 6% and a linear regression equation y '= 36.35 + 0.31 x.

Abstract The Covid 19 pandemic that hit Indonesia demands the physics for school course to be conducted online using a Learning Management System Supported Smartphone (LMS3). By using this application, prospective physics teachers can practice their digital literacy and strengthen cognitive abilities. This study aims to determine the correlation between digital literacy and cognitive abilities, in general and by gender, which are trained through physics for school course using LMS3. The descriptive research was conducted with survey method and involving 20 students at a university in Tasikmalaya. They are five males and fifteen females spread 18-20 years old. The instruments used in this research were digital literacy test and cognitive ability test. Both have been validated by 5 experts and have high reliability. The collected data were analyzed statistically using the Kolmogorov Smirnov test and the Pearson correlation test. The results of the normality test obtained α = 0.636 which indicates that the data is normally distributed. The correlation coefficient r = 0.626 which indicates that digital literacy and cognitive ability are strong correlated. Based on the results the digital literacy of prospective physics teachers must be adequate to support learning success, one of which is shown by cognitive abilities.

Abstract Empirical evidence has shown the relationship between alcohol abuse and the impairment of certain cognitive abilities. The aim of this paper was to analyze the influence of alcohol abuse on adolescents’ cognitive performance. Several questionnaires were used to assess adolescents’ addictive profile, as well as their performance on tasks involving cognitive abilities, such as attention, perception and reasoning. A total of 42 students, from an initial sample of 246 adolescents, completed the follow-up. Participants, aged between 16 and 20, were classified in two groups (21 consumers at risk and 21 consumers at low risk) and followed for one year. Results showed an increase of alcohol, tobacco and cannabis use during the follow-up. Considering data from both initial and final assessment, adolescents who met abuse criteria showed worse results than those with a non-abusive use in the Perceptual Ability Test (p<0,05). Future studies, with a larger sample size and a longer follow-up, are necessary to confirm the trends presented in this paper.

In adults, psychiatric disorders are highly comorbid and are negatively associated with cognitive abilities. Individual cognitive measures have been linked with domains of child psychopathology, but the specificity of these associations and the extent to which they reflect shared genetic influences are unknown. In this study we examined the relationship between general factors of cognitive ability ( g) and psychopathology ( p) in early development using two genetically informative samples: the Texas “Tiny” Twin Project (TXtT; N = 626, age range = 0.16–6.31 years) and the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study–Birth Cohort (ECLS-B; N ≈ 1,300 individual twins, age range = 3.7–7.1 years). The total p–g correlation (−.21 in ECLS-B; −.34 in TXtT) was primarily attributable to genetic and shared environmental factors. The early age range of participants indicates that the p–g association is a reflection of overlapping genetic and shared environmental factors that operate in the first years of life.
