The objectives of the study are to find out significant correlation between reading interest through the students reading comprehension. In this research, the researcher used quantitative method by Pearson correlation product moment. There are four variables in this research. Students interest as prediction variable and Reading comprehension as criterion variable, the technique of collecting data was by using a questionnaire and test. The questionnaire consists of 20 items and 46 items of reading comprehension. The object of study is 30 students from class D at the third semester. After getting the score of the students interest and reading comprehension, the data were statistically computed to find out the correlation between those variables. From the calculation by using product moment formula, it was found out that the mean scores of the students interest 75.53. The mean of the scores of the students reading comprehension is 5.53. The result of applying the variable rx1y (ro) distribution shows that the coefficient correlation between students interest and reading comprehension is 0.919 or 91.9% means that there was very strong correlation. The degree of significance 5% is 0,000. It means p is smaller than 0.05 (0.05 < 0.000). So, alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. The conclusion of this research is there is a significant correlation between students interest and their reading comprehension.

The study aims at finding out the relationship between students’ interest and their reading comprehension level in short passages. This study was conducted at the second grade of Senior High School 10 of Gowa. The population of this study was all of the students in academic year 2019/2020 which consisted 265 students, and the sample was 30 students selected by using purposive method. The researcher applied correlational design. The researcher used the instrument to obtain the data, they were questionnaire and test. The scores from both instruments were calculated and analyzed by using statistical procedure of Product Moment Correlation to find out whether there was a correlation between the two variables or not. The result showed that there was low correlation with the index value of correlation coefficient (rxy) of 0.28. Furthermore, the hypothesis testing showed that the index value of correlation coefficient (rxy) of 0,28 was lower than the index value of correlation coefficient of the Product Moment table (rt) of 0,306 which meant that, the null hypothesis (H0) was accepted and alternative hypothesis (H1) was rejected. Therefore, students’ interest in short reading comprehension passages is in average level because only a few students are interested in English lesson especially those who have high interest and many vocabularies to learn English. Short Passages did not give a big impact on students’ interest and their achievement in reading comprehension because of some factors. There is not self-interest in reading, lack of vocabulary and support parents and all of school elements in order to improve the students’ reading interest optimally. The findings of this study might be used as the input for both teachers and students to improve students’ reading comprehension level.

The aim of the research is to analyze the effect of policy implementation of Local Regulation No. 12/2009 concerning Areas Without Cigarettes by Civil Service Police Unit on the enforcement of public discipline in the public areas of Bogor City. The policy implementation is understood in Edward III’s perspective based on four aspects, namely communication, resource, disposition/attitude, and bureaucratic structure. The public discipline uses Elizabeth Hunrlock’s perspective based on three aspects, namely rule/norm, consistence, punishment and reward. The research uses Weight Mean Score formula to count the mean and to describe it. It also uses Spearman Rank Correlation formula based on SPSS version.20 to test a hypothesis concerning the relation of policy implementation to public discipline. The results of the research indicate that the policy implementation gets the mean score 3.28, meaning good enough, and the public discipline gets the mean score 3.65, meaning good. The coefficient correlation of two variables gets value 0.406, categorized as the middle. By t-test, the research gets tcount value 3.688 and ttable (N=71) value 1.666. Therefore, tcount > ttable means that alternative hypothesis is accepted. The coefficient determination indicates 16.4% of contribution of policy implementation to public discipline. Keywords: Areas Without Cigarettes, Policy Implementation, Public Areas, Public Discipline.
