The aim of this study was to investigate the extent to which the diagnosis of breast cancer influences the self-assessment of personality traits by patients. In 1989 and 1990, all female inhabitants of Nijmegen aged 43 years and over were invited to participate in a population screening for breast cancer and were asked to complete a personality questionnaire. During 1989–1992, 25 women who were diagnosed as having breast cancer were psychologically assessed for a second time 1 1/2 years after diagnosis. A control group of 822 healthy women also completed the questionnaire twice. A statistically significant decrease in scores on three scales (Rationality, Emotional Expression-out, and Emotional-Control) was reported by the patient group compared to the control group.

(1) Background: Emerging evidence indicates that non-motor symptoms significantly influence the quality of life in dystonic patients. Therefore, it is essential to evaluate their psychological characteristics and personality traits. (2) Methods: Subjects with idiopathic dystonia and a matched control group were enrolled in this prospective observational cohort study. Inclusion criteria for patient group included idiopathic dystonia diagnosis, evolution exceeding 1 year, and signed informed consent. Inclusion criteria for the control group included lack of neurological comorbidities and signed informed consent. All subjects completed the DECAS Personality Inventory along with an additional form of demographic factors. Data (including descriptive statistics and univariate and multivariate analysis) were analyzed with SPSS. (3) Results: In total, 95 participants were included, of which 57 were in the patient group. Females prevailed (80%), and the mean age was 54.64 ± 12.8 years. The most frequent clinical features of dystonia were focal distribution (71.9%) and progressive disease course (94.73%). The patients underwent regular treatment with botulinum toxin (85.95%). In addition, patients with dystonia obtained significantly higher openness scores than controls, even after adjusting for possible confounders (p = 0.006). Personality traits were also different between the two groups, with patients more often being fantasists (p = 0.007), experimenters (p = 0.022), sophists (p = 0.040), seldom acceptors (p = 0.022), and pragmatics (p = 0.022) than control subjects. (4) Conclusion: Dystonic patients tend to have different personality profiles compared to control subjects, which should be taken into consideration by the treating neurologist.

Abstract Background The E75 and GP2 vaccines are the few therapeutic vaccines targeting HER2 currently under clinical research for patients with breast cancer. Methods Databases, including the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Medline, Embase, and Web of Science, were used to retrieve clinical studies on E75 and GP2 vaccines. Retrieval time was from the beginning of database construction until May 31st, 2021. Results A total of 24 clinical studies were included in this analysis, including 1704 patients in the vaccinated group and 1248 patients in the control group. For the E75 vaccine, there were significant differences between the vaccinated group and the control group in the delayed-type hypersensitivity reaction (SMD = 0.685 95% CI 0.52–0.85, PHeterogeneity = 0.186, PDTH < 0.05) and the change in CD8+ T-cell numbers (SMD = − 0.864, 95% CI − 1.02 to − 0.709, PHeterogeneity = 0.085, PCD8+ T cell < 0.05) before and after injection. For the GP2 vaccine, there was a significant difference between the vaccinated group and the control group in the change in CD8+ T-cell numbers (SMD = − 0.584, 95% CI − 0.803 to − 0.294, PHeterogeneity = 0.397, PCD8+ T cell < 0.05) before and after injection. In addition, the clinical outcomes, including recurrence rate (RR = 0.568, 95% CI 0.444–0.727, PHeterogeneity = 0.955, PRecurrence < 0.05) and disease-free survival rate (RR = 1.149, 95% CI 1.050–1.256, PHeterogeneity = 0.003, PDFS < 0.05), of the E75-vaccinated group were different from those of the control group. However, we found that the overall survival rate with the E75 vaccine (RR = 1.032, 95% CI 0.998–1.067, PHeterogeneity = 0.476, POS > 0.05) was not different between the two groups. Local and systemic toxicity assessments of the two vaccines showed minimal side effects. Conclusions The E75 vaccine was effective and safe in patients with breast cancer. The GP2 vaccine could elicit a strong immune response, but more trials are needed to confirm its clinical efficacy.

Background : Fatigue is feeling tired physically, psychologically, cognitively perceived cancer patients while undergoing therapies for the disease, including chemotherapy. The purpose of this study was to determine differences in the level of fatigue in cancer patients between before and after aerobic exercise combined with relaxation techniques of yoga. Methods :  This study used Quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control group in patients with breast cancer in the course of chemotherapy. The sampling methods used purposive sampling. The fatigue level was collected by subjective instruments Pipper Fatigue Scale (PFS), and then analyzed by the Independent and Dependent T test, and multivariate analysis used linear regression with a significance value of α 0.05. Results :  There were differences in the level of fatigue post-test between the intervention group and the control group with a difference of 1.25 (p = 0.013). History of previous exercise may explain the 17.8% level of fatigue that occurs in patients with breast cancer in the course of chemotherapy, the rest was explained by other variables. Conclusion : There were a decrease in the level fatigue statistically, however clinically the level of fatigue remain the same catagories.

The existing tools for assessing the effectiveness of educational programs differ in the degree of effectiveness, applicability, and costs. The self-assessment method, which involves the determination of the level of expression of various qualities by students of educational programs before and after graduation. The method of assessing students' own competencies has significant limitations associated with social desirability. Nevertheless, the article analyzes the possibilities of using this method to assess the effectiveness of corporate educational programs. The results of using the self-assessment method to assess the effectiveness of corporate educational programs conducted in large organizations are presented. The possibilities and limitations of using various kinds of criteria for evaluating themselves by listeners are substantiated. The conclusion is made about the possibility of using the self-assessment method in the case of the focus of educational programs on the development of meta-competencies of managers. The article provides data on the assessment of learning outcomes, discusses the potential reasons for the differences obtained in the framework of projects, as well as the possibilities and limitations of using the self-assessment method to assess the educational effect of corporate training programs.

To analyze the effect of nursing measures based on self-efficacy theory on the state self-esteem of breast cancer patients. 110 breast cancer patients who were treated in our hospital from October 2018 to October 2019 were randomly divided into control group and observation group. The control group was given routine nursing measures, and the observation group was given nursing measures under the guidance of self-efficacy theory. Before operation, 1 week after operation and 3 months after operation, the general data of the two groups before and after treatment were recorded. The self-efficacy level and self-esteem level of the patients before and after treatment were assessed by the self-efficacy scale (GSEs) and state self-esteem scale (SSEs). The compliance of functional exercise and shoulder joint activity (ROM) of the two groups were compared, and the physical status of the two groups were analyzed. To analyze the effect of nursing measures based on self-efficacy theory on the state self-esteem of breast cancer patients. The GSEs score of the two groups increased with the time, and there was no significant difference between the two groups before operation (P > 0.05). After 1 week and 3 months, the GSEs score of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05). The compliance evaluation table of functional exercise in the two groups increased with the time, and the compliance evaluation table of functional exercise in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). ROM of the two groups increased with time, and ROM of the observation group was significantly better than that of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The self-esteem level of the two groups increased with time, and the self-esteem level of the observation group was significantly higherthan that of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). The nursing measures under tne guidance of self-efficacy theory can help patients to complete functionalexercise, improve theirquality of life, improve their self-esteem level, a nd can be widely used in clinical practice.

We tested whether the genre of a literary text (essay as compared with short story) or its artistic merit would be primarily responsible for the variability in the self-perceived personality traits that individuals experience when they read. One hundred participants were randomly assigned to read either one of eight essays or one of eight short stories, matched for length, reading difficulty, and interest. The Big-Five personality traits were measured before and after reading. Genre did not affect variability in personality. Rather, participants who judged the text they read to be more artistic reported a greater variability in their personality trait profile after reading, independently of whether the text was an essay or a short story. Artistic merit appears to be associated with literature’s transformative effects through the instability in the self-perceived experience of the reader’s personality.

This study examined the relationship between psychiatric conditions and narcissism in 78 patients with physical rehabilitation for illnesses such as cerebrovascular disease. The frequency of psychiatric disorders (Major Depression and Adjustment Disorder) was significantly higher for the patient group than for the healthy control group. The patients had significantly higher scores on measures of psychiatric symptoms including depression and lower scores on a narcissistic factor (Self-sufficiency) than the controls. In the patient group, the Self-sufficiency scores were significantly and positively correlated with Vigor scores In the patient and control groups, although the correlation coefficient was not high and no significant difference was noted, the Self-sufficiency scores were negatively correlated with the Depression scores. These findings suggest that, in patients undergoing physical rehabilitation, poor Self-sufficiency is related to a decrease in vigor as a depressive symptom, perhaps due to the loss of physical functioning.

Abstract Background Medical education in China is in a transitional period changing from passive learning to experiential education models. We have modified an experiential education method for radiology education. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of this method on undergraduate radiology education. Methods With the help of the picture archiving and communication system (PACS) and RadiAnt DICOM Viewer, we have modified an experiential education method that simulates similar working conditions for undergraduate medical students to take on the role as clinical radiologists and formulate radiology diagnosis. A total of 101 students were allocated into either the experiential education group [Office1] or the control group. The final examination scores and a 5-point Likert scale self-assessment questionnaire of radiologic skills were collected from all the students as an objective assessment and a subjective assessment respectively. A questionnaire was also used to assess the satisfaction with the experiential model in the experiential education group. Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare the ranked data, and t -tests were used to compare the numeric data. Results The experiential education group demonstrated significantly higher scores (7.4±1.3) in the short answer type questions on imaging “description and diagnosis” when compared to the control group (6.7±1.5, p <0.05). The self-assessment questionnaire indicated that the experiential education corresponded to an increased familiarity with the diagnostic principles, the imaging sequences and reconstruction methods of computer tomography (CT), which also strengthen participants’ confidence to perform future clinical work (p <0.05). The self-assessment questionnaire from the experiential education group showed great satisfaction with the organization (82.5%), interactivity (85%) and quality (85%) of the learning activity in majority of students. Most students found this model of learning to be helpful for studying radiology (85%) and for understanding anatomy (90%). Conclusion Compared with the traditional radiology education approach, the experiential education model showed greater efficacy in improving students’ analytical and diagnostic skills as well as clinical confidence.

Background and objectives: Multiple sclerosis (MS) patients tend to present peculiar personality traits that highly impact their quality of life. Our study aimed to determine which personality traits are more common in MS patients compared to a sex- and age-matched control group. Methods and materials: Patients with relapsing–remitting MS along with a sex- and age-matched control group were included. All subjects completed the DECAS Personality Inventory and an additional form including demographic characteristics. Data (including descriptive statistics and univariate and multivariate analysis) were analyzed using SPSS. Results: 122 subjects were included, out of which 61 were in the patient group, mostly females (71.31%) with a mean age of 42.06 ± 10.46 years. Mean duration of disease was 10.18 ± 5.53 years and mean EDSS score was 2.09; 36% of patients were treated with Interferon-beta 1a. Subjects in the patient group presented significantly lower scores for extraversion (p = 0.036), specifically those with higher EDSS score, even after adjusting for possible confounders (age, sex, marital status, early retirement, alcohol, and tobacco consumption). Additionally, regarding orientation in life, MS patients were more often philosophers (p = 0.001), especially young males, whereas the dominant emotional feeling was less common, the actor profile (p = 0.022). Regarding task involvement, MS patients were often passive and compassionate concerning other people. Higher EDSS score also correlated with avoidant (p = 0.006) and melancholic (p = 0.043) personality traits. Subjects with higher education associated more often pragmatic, experimenter, popular, and optimist traits, whereas the elderly had actor, authoritarian, and experimenter profiles. Conclusions: Some MS patients may have reduced levels of extraversion and specific personality traits compared to age- and sex-matched subjects. Determining the exact personality profile might help the neurologist to establish a better therapeutic alliance and to apply specific interventions.

Background The learning process of physiological mechanisms of childbirth and its management are important elements in the education of medical students. In this study, we verify how the use of a high-fidelity simulator of childbirth improves competence of students in this regard.Methods A total of 132 medical students were recruited for the study in order to attend a physiological childbirth in a no-hospital environment after being assigned to two groups. The control group received only a normal cycle of lectures, while the simulation (SIM) group followed a specific training session on the simulator. Subsequently, both groups were assessed for their technical and non-technical skills in a simulated childbirth. Also, a self-assessment test regarding their self-confidence was administrated before and after simulation, and repeated after 8 weeks.Results The SIM group showed better performance in all the domains with a better comprehension of the mechanisms of childbirth, managing and assistance of labour and delivery. In addition, compared to the control group, they presented a better self-related awareness and self-assurance regarding the possibility of facing a birth by themselves.Conclusion The present study demonstrated that the use of a high-fidelity simulator for medical students allows a significant improvement in the acquisition of theoretical and technical expertise to assist a physiological birth.
