Abstract The objective of this study was to compare the course of parturitions induced with sole oxytocin with those induced with the combination of intracervical prostaglandin E2 jelly and oxytocin. For this purpose 13 mares in advanced pregnancy were allocated to the groups pretreated with either intracervical PGE2 (experimental group) or saline (control group) two hours before intravenous oxytocin (5 IU) administration. The mares were compared with respect to cervical dilation diameter (CDD) 20 min. after oxytocin injection. Time intervals from the first oxytocin dose to: the first external signs of parturition, the chorioallantois rupture, the delivery of a foal and time interval from the delivery of a foal to the placenta separation were measured. Cervical dilatation diameter as well as proportion of mares with cervical dilatation > 20 cm were significantly higher in the group of PGE2 treated mares comparing with control group (p = 0.0115 and p = 0.0490, respectively). All time intervals measured were statistically insignificant for both groups of mares, however time intervals from the first oxytocin dose to the first external signs of parturition, to the allantochorion rupture and to the delivery of a foal, were very close to the significance level (α = 0.05). To conclude, PGE/oxytocin combination has positive influence on the preparation of the uterine cervix to parturition. Moreover, it seems that PGE2 pretreatment reduced total oxytocin dose for successful parturition induction and shortened time elapsing between the first oxytocin dose and the delivery of a foal what is crucial for foal’s safety

This study was conducted to evaluate the influence and cooperation of Orthodontic patients to wear removable retainer by sending reminder text messages. 54 orthodontic patients (24 males and 30 females) aged between 18 to 25 year were enrolled for the study. Patients were randomly divided into two groups: an Experimental group (27 patients) who received timely reminder text messages and a Control group (27 patients) who did not receive any messages. Text Messages were sent thrice a week for a period of 6 months. Two measurements were calculated on plaster models i.e. Inter canine width and extraction spaces at three time intervals during the observation period. The plaster models were made at the time of insertion of retainer (T0) after 3 month of wearing the retainer (T2) and then after 6 months (T3). A statistically significant differences were observed in the intra- and intergroup comparisons. Group 1(Control) showed increase in both inter canine width and extraction spaces. Whereas Group 2 showed non-significant differences for both parameters. It was concluded from the results that reminder text messages had a positive influence on patient compliance regarding wearing the removable retainer after completion of fixed orthodontic treatment.

ABSTRACT Objectives: To evaluate the influence of text messages on cooperation of Class II patients with the use of intermaxillary elastics. Materials and Methods: The sample consisted of 42 orthodontic patients (20 males and 22 females) aged between 14 and 34 years. They were randomly divided into one of the following two groups: a control group with 21 patients who did not receive messages and an experimental group with 21 patients who received motivational and reminder text messages. Messages were sent twice a week for a period of 3 months. The patients were instructed to wear the elastics all day, removing them only during meals and replacing them daily. All patients were instructed regarding the importance of cooperation. Measurements were performed with a digital caliper on plaster models at the beginning of elastics wear (T1) and 3 months later (T2). For intragroup and intergroup comparisons between T1 and T2, paired and unpaired t-tests, respectively, were used with a significance level of 5%. Results: Statistically significant differences were observed in the intra- and intergroup comparisons between T1 and T2. Both groups showed a decrease in the sagittal distance between upper and lower arches from T1 to T2, demonstrating the effective use of elastics. However, the experimental group showed a Class II correction that was 3.7 times greater than the control group (P = .001). Conclusions: Text messages had a positive influence on the cooperation of patients regarding the use of intermaxillary elastics in the orthodontic treatment of Class II malocclusion.

22 preschool children were either trained (experimental group) or not trained (control group) to indicate a 15-sec. time interval by the method of production. The accuracy was significantly improved by brief training. The children were generally accurate whether attending to the stopwatch at the right or left ear or given sound- or light-filled intervals. Neither age nor sex differences were found. These results demonstrate the possibility of conducting research on time-estimation at an early age if the procedures are relatively short and of interest to the young child. Because most of the children were unable to count as a guide to their judgments, the inner neural clock theory is supported.

Complete feeding of ponies is provided on the basis of data on their nutritional needs depending on age, sex, physiological state and level of productivity (the amount of milk produced and the intensity of growth of young animals). Ponies are sensitive to a lack of vitamins and mineral elements in the feed. When there is a sufficient amount of organic and mineral substances, but a lack or absence of vitamins, horses and ponies have impaired metabolism. The purpose of this work is to study the effectiveness of the use of vitamin and mineral additive MEGA-VIT in the rations of pregnant and lactating mares of Shetland pony breed. It has been found during of the researches that the vitamin and mineral additive MEGA-VIT had a positive influence on the productive and physiological indicators of animals. The cost of spent feed for the entire period of experiment in the control group was 50,6 thousand rubles, and in the experimental group it was 11,8 thousand rubles more or 23,5 %. Revenue from the sale of young horses of the control group amounted to 400 thousand rubles, and experimental group – 440 thousand rubles, this is by 40 thousand rubles more than in control group. This led to the increase in profit in the experimental group of mares by 28,1 thousand rubles and accordingly the level of profitability by 3,2 %. It has been recommended on the results have been obtained on the base of researches to include 30 g/head/day in the rations of mares of Shetland pony breed during pregnancy, and 50 g/head/day during lactation.
