Utilization of Tofu Dregs Flour in Making Snack Bars for People with Diabetes Mellitus

Type II diabetes mellitus due to an unhealthy lifestyle, one of which is the lack of fiber in daily food consumption. One food that has a high fiber content is tofu dregs. The purpose of this study was to determine substitution of wheat flour with tofu dregs flour to produce a snack bar with the best characteristics, and determine the effect of consumption of snack bar from tofu dregs on blood sugar content in rats. The research was conducted two steps. Step I: Formulation of snack bar using a completely randomized design with tofu dregs flour concentration of 0 %, 10 %, 20 %, 30 %, 40 %, and 50 %. The variables of this study were the content of water, ash, protein, fat, carbohydrates, sensory tests, and effectiveness tests. Step II: the best characteristic snack bar in the step I was used experimental rats. This step used true experimental design with pre-post test control group design. The variables of study were blood glucose levels before treatment and after treatment. The treatment group consisted of normal, negative, positive control, and snack bar. The results of the first step of the research showed that substitution of wheat flour with 40 % tofu dregs produced the best characteristic snack bar with 17.19 % water content, 1.33 % ash content, 11.03 % protein, 20.53 % fat, 49.92 % carbohydrate, light brown color, unpleasant aroma, distinctive soy taste, crumb texture, 0.63 % water soluble food fiber, 1.57 % water insoluble fiber, and total food fiber 2.36 %. The results of the second step of the study showed that the provision of substitution of wheat flour with tofu dregs flour 40 % could reduce blood sugar levels in diabetic mellitus rats until normal, start 290 mg/dl to 108.5 mg/dl. Tofu dregs flour can be used for snack bar formulations for people with diabetes mellitus.

We report the supplementation of noni (Morinda citrifolia) to decrease blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes mellitus Brawijaya Hospital Surabaya, and noni problems whether supplementation is effective in reducing blood sugar levels in diabetes patients mellitus.The goal of this study was to determine the effectiveness of capsule morinda to decrease blood sugar levels in patients with Diabetes Mellitus in Brawijaya Hospital Surabaya. This type of research is to ekperimem quasi control group design with pre-test and post test. The population in this study are patients with diabetes mellitus in hospital outpatient Brawijaya. The sampling technique with a number of 60 people who were divided into 30 groups of control (can drug from a doctor) and 30 in the experimental group (can medicine from the doctor and consumption of noni capsules) .Instrumen this study is the laboratory results of random blood sugar levels with the tools glucometer ( gluko Dr). Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate (parametric test, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test z and Independent T-Test). From the results, no significant difference the difference in the results of pre-test and post-test in the control group and the experiment is p = 0.020 (<0.05), then the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted (the results are meaningful). It is concluded that supplementation of noni effective in helping to decrease blood sugar levels of patients with diabetes mellitus, it is advisable to consume noni capsules and routine checks of blood sugar levels so that the blood sugar levels under control.

Background: Diabetes Militus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia or an increase in blood sugar that occurs due to abnormal insulin secretion. Diabetes Mellitus in the world is one of the health problems that cause death. IDF data (2013) says Indonesia is the seventh largest country in the case of Diabetes Militus. Diabetes Militus in West Kalimantan Province increased from 0.6% in 2007 to 0.8% in 2013, this number increased compared to 2012, which was 4866 cases (Pontianak City Service 2014 in Salim, I.O, 2016). Based on 30 samples taken from the Purnama Public Health Center, 15 men and 15 women were found to suffer from Diabetes Militus type 2. With a poor lifestyle so that when carrying out research many were found with more weight. Purpose: Effectiveness of Types of Honey (Forest Honey, Kelulut Honey and Livestock Honey) Against Blood Sugar Levels Research Methods: Descriptive Quantitative with a sample of 30 respondents using a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test nonequivalent control group design. Research Results: The results showed that all honey can reduce blood sugar levels, especially forest honey. The results of data analysis using Anova statistical test obtained p value Pre test 0.52> α: 0.05 and Post test 0.113> α: 0.05 showed that there were no significant values ​​of the three types of honey on the decrease in blood sugar levels. Tujuan: Efektivitas Jenis-jenis Madu (Madu Hutan, Madu Kelulut dan Madu Ternak) Terhadap Kadar Gula Darah Metode Penelitian: Deskriptif Kuantitatif dengan sampel 30 responden menggunakan desain kuasi eksperimen dengan pre-test dan post-test nonequivalent control group design. Hasil Penelitian: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semua madu dapat mengurangi kadar gula darah, terutama madu hutan. Hasil analisis data menggunakan uji statistic Anova diperoleh nilai p Pre test 0,52> α: 0,05 dan Post test 0,113> α: 0,05 menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada nilai signifikan ketiga jenis madu terhadap penurunan kadar gula darah. Kesimpulan: Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa tidak ada efektifitas jenis-jenis madu (madu hutan, madu kelulut dan madu ternak) untuk menurunkan kadar gula darah di Puskesmas Purnama

The purpose of this study was to identify the effectiveness of giving aloe vera boiled water to decrease blood sugar levels in type II Diabetes Mellitus patients at Batunyala Community Health Center, Central Praya District, Central Lombok Regency, NTB. The research design used in this study is a quasi-experimental design pre and post with control group. Respondents were patients who had been treated at Batunyala Health Center, Praya Tengah District, Central Lombok Regency, NTB and diagnosed with type II diabetes mellitus. The total sample in this study was 22 samples with 11 respondents in the intervention group and 11 respondents in the control group using porposivesampling technique. The results of the Dependent t test in getting the results of the average blood sugar level before intervention was 178.73 and after the intervention was 172.18 with an average decrease of 2.258. The results of the Dependent T test obtained P value (0.016) <(0.05) and t count (2.899)> t table (1,812) then Ho was rejected meaning that there were differences in blood sugar levels before and after the intervention giving aloe vera water.   Key words : Aloe Vera, Blood Sugar Levels, Type II Diabetes Mellitus

AbstrakHidroterapi atau terapi air putih merupakan metode perawatan danpenyembuhan dengan menggunakan air putih untuk mendapatkan manfaat terapisdalam penanganan penyakit. Diabetes Mellitus adalah salah satu penyakitdegeneratif, yang mana perlu suatu upaya untuk menekan terjadinya peningkataninsiden penyakit tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efekhidroterapi terhadap penurunan kadar gula darah sesaat pada penderita DM tipe 2.Metode penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimen dengan pendekatan control groupdesign with pretest and posttest. dengan teknik pengambilan sampel yangdigunakan adalah non probability sampling dengan pendekatan purposivesampling. Total responden adalah 27 orang, 15 responden untuk kelompok kontroldan 12 orang kelompok intervensi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kurangdari separoh (40%) responden yang mengalami penurunan kadar gula darah sesaat(KGDS) setelah pemberian terapi oral, dan didapatkan semua responden (100%)mengalami penurunan KGDS setelah diberikan terapi oral dan hidroterapi. Dapatdisimpulkan bahwa Terdapat pengaruh hidroterapi pada penderita diabetes melitustipe 2 yang diberi terapi oral, ini terlihat terdapatnya perbedaan yang signifikandengan p = 0,00 (p<0,05) dari rata-rata kadar gula darah sesaat (KGDS) antarakelompok intervensi (pemberian terapi oral dan hidfroterapi) dan kelompokkontrol (hanya pemberian terapi oral).Kata kunci: Hidroterapi, kadar gula darah sesaat, dan diabetes mellitusAbstractHydrotherapy or water therapy is a method of treatment and healing withwater for get the profit therapeutic in the treatment of disease. The purpose of this research is to know the influence of Ramadan Fasting towards blood sugar levels in diabetics in the health center in West Java of Purwakarta. The design of this research uses quasi experiment of pre and post test with the control group, the method uses Purposive sampling done by the sum of 36 samples of respondents. The results of this research are using Independent T-test fast differences in blood sugar levels after fasting Ramadaan in the control group and the intervention group obtained the value of p = 0.039 < α = 0.05. Conclusion the results of this study showed the presence of the influence of fasting of Ramadan towards blood sugar levels in type II diabetes mellitus patients in Healty Center of Purwakarta. It can be concluded that fasting during Ramadan can be used as an alternative diet method that has positive benefits if it is run by type II diabetes mellitus patients which can reduce blood sugar to be more stable.  Keywords: Ramadhan Fasting, Blood Glukose Level, Diabetic Mellitus Type II

In 2012 diabetes mellitus is the cause of death from 1,5 million (WHO,2016). The population of diabetes mellitus (DM) in indonesia is currently ranked fifth in tyhe world. In 2013 people with diabetes mellitus in the homeland reaches 8.554.155 people. The continuous increase in the number of patients with diabetes mellitus and the magnitudeof the cost of treatment due to complications, then the best effort is prevention. Exercise of physical exercise is an early attempt to prevent, control, and overcome diabetes. Type of Quasi Experimenta research with Non Randomited Pretest and Posttest Control Group Design methods. Research location in RS Dr. H. Marzoeki Mahdi dated 26 April 2017 number of sample counted 32 respondents with diabetes mellitus with sample Purposive Sampling. Tools used in date collection are Accu-Chek Akctive and observation sheet. Technique of date analysis is bivariate analysis with SPSSM program. The influence of diabetes mellitus gymnastics on changes in blood sugar levels in Dr. H. Marzoeki Mahdi Hospital in 2017. The ntervention group of blood sugas levels before gymnastics and after gymnastics decreased 24,69 mg/dL, in the control group of blood sugar levels on the first day and the fourth day increased 10,56 mg/dL. Statistical test results using Independent T Test obtained P value = 0,000 which means P value <0,05 means the influence of diabetes gymnastics to changes in blood sugar levels in people with diabetes mellitus in Dr. H. Study aim: The purpose of this study was to establish the effects of a 12-week strength training(ST) programme on hand function in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients in a tertiaryhealth institution in Benin-City. The findings of this study would help clinicians/clinical staff totake ST into consideration in the management of patients with T2DM thereby enhancing clinicaloutcome.Material and methods: This study was a pre-test, post-test control group design. A total of 36T2DM patients participated in the study. Handgrip and pinch strength were measured usingelectronic hand dynamometer (in kg) and mechanical pinch gauge (in kg) respectively prior toand following a 12-week ST programme. The amount of handgrip and pinch strength of bothhands generated by each participant was used as a quantitative measurement of the developmentof hand function. Data generated were analyzed using inferential statistics of one way analysisof variance (ANOVA) and the statistical significance was accepted for p value of &lt;0.05.Results: The findings of the study showed that ST programme had significant effects on handfunction of T2DM patients.Conclusion: It was concluded that ST programme can substantially enhance hand function ofpatients with T2DM. Therefore, ST programme should be considered a key element in themanagement of T2DM patients.

AbstrakAspartam telah disetujui oleh FDA untuk dikonsumsi. Konsumsi pemanis buatan ini menggunakan dosis ADI (Acceptable Daily Intake) yaitu 50 mg/kgBB. Individu dengan diabetes melitus kemungkinan menjadi antusias terhadap adanya aspartam. Aspartam dapat mempengaruhi metabolisme profil lipid. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh pemberian aspartam terhadap kadar LDL dan HDL tikus diabetes melitus diinduksi aloksan. Ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental dengan randomized post test only control group design. Subjek penelitian adalah 15 ekor tikus Wistar jantan yang dibagi menjadi tiga kelompok, yaitu kelompok kontrol negatif, kelompok kontrol positif, dan kelompok perlakuan. Masing-masing kelompok terdiri dari lima (5) ekor tikus. Pemberian aspartam (dosis 315 mg/kgBB tikus) diberikan kepada kelompok perlakuan selama empat (4) minggu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian aspartam pada tikus diabetes melitus diinduksi aloksan berpengaruh terhadap penurunan kadar LDL dan peningkatan kadar HDL. Kadar LDL pada kelompok kontrol positif adalah 30 ± 2 mg/dl, pada kelompok perlakuan adalah 24 ± 2 mg/dl. Sedangkan kadar HDL pada kelompok kontrol positif adalah 19 ± 1 mg/dl, pada kelompok perlakuan adalah 22 ± 1 mg/dl. Terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna pada kadar LDL dan HDL antara kelompok kontrol positif dengan kelompok perlakuan. Kesimpulan hasil penelitian ini adalah pemberian aspartam pada tikus diabetes melitus diinduksi aloksan berpengaruh terhadap penurunan kadar LDL dan peningkatan kadar HDL.Kata kunci: aspartam, diabetes melitus, LDL, HDLAbstractAspartame has been approved by the FDA for consumption. Aspartame can influence the metabolism of lipid profile. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of aspartame on levels of LDL and HDL at rats with diabetes mellitus induced by alloxan. The research is experimental research with randomized post test only control group design. The subjects were 15 male Wistar rats those were divided into three groups: a negative control group, a positive control group, and the treated group. Each group consists of five (5) male rats. Administration of aspartame (dose of 315 mg/kg rat) was administered to the treatment group for four (4) weeks. The results showed that administration of aspartame in rats with diabetes mellitus induced by alloxan was influenced the decreased in LDL levels and increased in HDL levels. The LDL levels in positive control group was 30 ± 2 mg/dl, in the treatment group was 24 ± 2 mg/dl. While the levels of HDL in positive control group was 19 ± 1 mg/dl, in the treatment group was 22 ± 1 mg/dl. There is a significant difference in the levels of LDL and HDL between the positive control group with the treatment group. The conclusion of this research are the administration of aspartame in rats with diabetes mellitus induced by alloxan influenced the decreased in LDL levels and increased in HDL levels.Keywords: aspartame, diabetes mellitus, LDL, HDL

ABSTRACT Background: In diabetes mellitus, hyperglycemia causes oxidative stress that enhances the production of free radicals. The presence of higher levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) indicates the rise of free radicals. On the basis of its role as an antioxidant that binds free radicals and reduces the level of malondialdehyde (MDA). Soursop leaf can act as an antidiabetic agent. This study aimed to examine the efficacy of soursop leaf extract (Annona muricata L.) to decrease the level of MDA level in alloxan-induced diabetic rats (Rattus norvegicus). Subjects and Method: This was an experiment study using pre- and pro-test with control group design. Total of 30 rats were selected for this study and divided into five groups of treatment i.e. group I was given distilled water and standard feed (Negative Control/KI), group II was given vitamin E 150 IU/kgBW/day (Positive Control/KII), group III was given soursop leaf extract 75 mg/kgBW/day (KIII), group IV was given soursop leaf extract 150 mg/kgBW/day (KIV), and group V was given soursop leaf extract 300 mg/kgBW/day (KV). Each group consisted of 5 rats and was given soursop leaf extract for 21 days after being induced by alloxan and high-fat diet. The data were analyzed using Mann-Whitney test. Results: There was a significant difference in KI group compared to KII, KIII, KIV, and KV groups. Soursop leaf extract of 150 mg/kgBW/day was the most effective dose to reduce MDA level in pancreatic rat. Conclusion: Soursop leaf extract of 150 mg/kgBW/day is the most effective dose on pancreatic MDA level reduction. This study aims to determine the effect of diabetes exercise on reducing blood glucose levels in people with diabetes. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design with a simple case study approach. A case study conducted in 5 days for 30 minutes showed that Diabetes Gymnastics was effective in reducing blood sugar levels in people with Diabetes Mellitus by 7.1%. In conclusion, diabetes exercises conducted for five consecutive days, effectively lower blood glucose levels in people with diabetes.   Keywords: Diabetes Mellitus, Blood Sugar, Gymnastics
