The introductory design course combines team and individual formative and summative assessment techniques. Individual summative midterm and final examinations were used to assess individual performance.Students were given the opportunity to increase their individual midterm examination marks by rewriting the same examination as a team following the individual summative assessment. This formative exercise providedstudents with a comparison of the efficacy and quality of teamwork versus individual work, and provided immediate feedback and correction for many conceptual and mechanical errors on the summative midterm  examination. This paper reports on the strategy and set up of the midterm examination, the results obtained by individual students and student teams, and learning outcomes (including anecdotal comments from students regarding the experience and reduced time spent reviewing examinations with students) based on two iterations of the course.

This laboratory practical requires first-year students to anticipate the effects of drugs active at cholinergic and adrenergic receptors on gut motility in order to design experiments during an authentic inquiry exercise. Rather than specifying a strict sequence of drug additions that aim to provide ideal demonstrations of pharmacological and physiological antagonism, I have instead designed switches into the drugs provided and set students, working in small teams, the task of identifying the switched drugs, an inquiry activity. To extend the teamwork aspect, laboratory reports were submitted by the student teams rather than individual students. Staff observed that discussions within the teams were stimulated by the inquiry-led nature of the practical. The quality of the laboratory reports submitted by teams were substantially improved over the individual reports submitted in previous years. (Students previously worked in teams, but simply followed a list of prescribed experiments and wrote individual reports.) Although, in conversation, teams of students had an improved understanding of the regulation of gut motility by the parasympathetic and sympathetic divisions of the autonomic nervous system and could readily distinguish between pharmacological and functional antagonism, no attempt was made to evaluate learning because the revision was triggered by the observed effect of a technical error and was not otherwise planned. It is likely that laboratory practicals, in general, would benefit from inclusion of inquiry.

Objective: The tremendous growth in the preparation of higher education institutions for management – marketing, has resulted in the need for and necessity to discuss the quality of that education. From here, the aim of this research was to determine the factors that affect the quality of management education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and to clarify its nature and importance, and the mutual effects on the quality of learning outcomes for marketing education at the individual student and program level, and at the level of the educational institution and its competitiveness. Design / Methodology: The determination of the factors affecting the quality of management education through a review of the literature and then testing its validity and its effects on the quality of marketing education outcomes at the individual, program, and institution level through practical study using survey lists for the teaching courses of government and private universities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Findings: The studies showed that almost all of the factors studied are highly reliable among themselves, and that they must be seen as coherent, when analyzing their impact on the learning outcomes of marketing education. Applications: The study provided guidance for, administrators, curriculum and course designers, and marketing teachers, to design high-quality marketing-management education programs, and in developing a self-diagnostic tool in which universities can determine their susceptibility to success and competition. Rooting / value: the current literature has shed light on the factors affecting the quality of management education. However, it was taken separately. Therefore, the research contributes to the existing literature by identifying the interrelationships between these factors, which have a role in improving the quality of marketing education.

The article takes up the issues connected to the ecological crisis, causes of which refer to uncontrolled scientifically-technical development, predatory administration of the natural sources of Earth and disrespect of the nature, following from the anthropocentric axiology, the analysis of the Stockholm’s Declaration, the Declaration from Rio and the declaration from Johannesburg, as documents forming the idea of the sustainable development, active that care and respect of nature and preventing degratation of natural environment make a basis of the agricultural and social development and the only rational way to get out of the ecological crisis without radical reduction the quality of human’s life. In discussed declarations they point out the individual, collective and institutional responsibility. It’s set up that the basis of the responsibility figured out like that - for the other human, for present and future generations, for the nature, for the global human’s society, for other communities of alive creatures, for the planet - should be ecophilosophy and systematic sozology. Basing on this two sciences we can make a socio-economical and ecological order indicated in the sustainable development conception.

This article discusses whether universities should create some MOOCs themselves or use the existing ones constructively in their teaching – thus meeting the potential challenges head-on and turning these into opportunities. After presenting various definitions the writer goes on to discuss whether MOOCs are a challenge or an opportunity for universities. The answer to this question depends on the strategies adopted by the individual university. Therefore, a strategy for embedding MOOCs in current courses is presented. It seems that we are moving towards teaching and learning in networks rather than following the centuries-old linear thinking. Lecturers will agree with their students what their individual learning goals are – so there will be much more focus on goals or aims (learning outcomes), and a system will then be set up in which the individual student is motivated to seek and identify his or her own personal learning path towards that goal – also called adaptive learning. And MOOCs can be an integral part of this.

The application of literacy is very important to be applied especially in learning Indonesian. Literacy can help students not only in learning but also in finding solutions to problems. The application of literacy in schools needs to get support from all parties, including the government, schools, parents (families), and most importantly the individual students. Indonesian Language learning is actually one of the most appropriate subjects for applying literacy. If literacy is applied in learning Indonesian, the level of student understanding will get better and that will also affect the learning outcomes. Not only in learning Indonesian, Indonesian is only one of the subjects that can be used in literacy. If students' learning outcomes and understanding are good, automatically the quality and also the quality of education gets better. Literacy is not the only way that can be taken in improving the quality of learning, but can be one good alternative to improve the quality and quality of education.

Abstract The accuracy of ion implantation is very important in semiconductor manufacturing and will directly affect the performance of the individual devices and even the whole chip. The deviations of ion implantation energy, dose and angle often result from abnormality of implant equipment or process design limit. The information of ion implantation energy, dose and angle can be qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed by SIMS (Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry) [1], which provides a way to diagnose ion implanter issue. Based on SIMS analysis results, we can judge whether ion implanter meets the requirements and whether the process design achieves the expected goal. In this paper, we report a SIMS data analysis method determine the deviation of ion implantation angle. A term of deviation rate is defined and a related calculation method was introduced, which is proportional to the deviation angles of the ion implanter. Then, a statistical analysis on a large number of data of deviation rates and ion implantation angles showed that the sampling data followed normal distribution, and thus the corresponding 3 sigma could be obtained. Using the determined 3 sigma range of the deviation rates, we can define the acceptable range for deviation rate. Further, we can use the actual deviation rate to judge if the implant equipment needs maintenance or not, or suggest the direction for improvement. Finally, we set up an oriented and quantitative optimization method of angle deviation by the full mapping of SIMS depth profiles, which can directly set the relationship between the angle deviation and the adjustment parameters of ion implantation disk (Δ alpha, Δ beta). The equipment’s maintenance time and cost can thus be minimized. This method can be used as early detection to the abnormity of ion implant equipment.

Migraine induces disability and an impaired quality of life, even between attacks. As most studies are based on subjective reports only, this study was set up to objectively quantify the interictal daily activities and heart rate of migraine patients, in relation to their subjectively reported highest realizable level of activity and of symptoms of mood in their habitual environment. Measurements were obtained during a migraine-free 2-day period of 24 patients (age range: 21-57 years) and 24 controls (age range: 18-59 years). Accelerometry was used to quantify the time spent in different postures and movements. The subjective parameters were documented by daily log. Whereas heart rate was similar for patients and controls, migraineurs were found to be significantly less physically active than controls and reported a significantly lower realizable level of activity. In addition, when active, their body motility was less than that of controls. Migraine patients also showed a higher level of sleepiness and lower level of vigour. These interictal behavioural and subjective phenemona objectively illustrate the individual and societal burden of migraine and its chronic impact on both domains.

Enhancement of productivity of potato plants grown on poor-P soil such as Inceptisols due to application of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) has been acknowledged. However, whether this AMF improved the quality of potato tubers is still need further investigation. This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of AMF in enhancing potato quality and determine whether the addition of compost and biochar to soil can support the productivity of this biofertilizer in enhancing the nutrient content in the tubers of potato plant. Screen house experiment was set up in factorial design with treatments were organic matter types (compost and compost plus biochar), and application of arbuscular mycorrhiza (without and with AMF consisted of Glomus sp. and Gigaspora sp.). Results of experiment showed that there was no interaction effect between organic matter and AMF on quality of potato tubers, however, the individual treatment especially AMF  increased the content of protein and lipid of potato tubers. Biochar that added to soil with compost was also increased the lipid content of potato tubers. This finding showed that AMF application in potato production grown in poor P-soil was not only increased the yield of potato, but also increased the quality of potato tubers.
