The development of technology that has brought big changes in human life, one of which is the presence of new media that makes it easier for humans to carry out communication activities. New media has a positive impact if it wisely chooses information, news and impressions as needed. Instagram social media includes new media, which is a platform for sharing photos, videos as well as a means of building relationships between people. However, the lack of control and strict sanctions by Instagram and the government have made some users free to upload pornographic content. The @pompa.kaka account includes Instagram users who are suspected of containing a lot of pornographic content. This study aims to determine and measure how much content contains pornographic elements on the Instagram account @pompa.kaka. This study uses a quantitative approach with content analysis methods. Analysis by coding on 340 samples by coder 1 and coder 2. Coding is carried out based on 7 categories of pornography according to Law No.44 of 2008. After the coding process between coders is complete, then a reliability test is carried out to prove the validity of the data and measuring instruments. reliable. The results of this study indicate that 97% of the content uploaded to the @pompa.kaka account contains pornographic elements.Perkembangan teknologi yang membawa perubahan besar dalam kehidupan manusia, salah satunya adalah kehadiran media baru yang memudahkan manusia dalam melakukan aktivitas komunikasi. Media baru membawa dampak positif apabila digunakan secara bijak dengan memilih informasi, berita serta tayangan sesuai kebutuhan. Media sosial instagram termasuk media baru, yang menjadi platform untuk berbagi foto, video sekaligus sarana membangun hubungan antar manusia. Namun kurangnya kontrol serta sanksi tegas oleh pihak instagram dan juga pemerintah membuat beberapa pengguna bebas mengunggah konten pornografi. Akun @pompa.kaka termasuk pengguna Instagram yang diduga banyak memuat konten mengandung unsur pornografi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui serta mengukur berapa banyak konten yang mengandung unsur pornografi pada akun instagram @pompa.kaka. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode analisis isi. Analisa dengan melakukan coding pada 340 sampel oleh coder 1 dan coder 2. Coding dilakukan berdasarkan pada tujuh kategori pornografi sesuai Undang-undang No.44 tahun 2008. Setelah proses coding antar coder selesai, kemudian dilakukan uji reliabilitas untuk membuktikan keabsahan data serta alat ukur yang reliabel. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa 97% konten yang diunggah pada akun @pompa.kaka mengandung unsur pornografi.

The background of this research is communication, new media, PR and PR Crisis. Fourth of this background has a close relationship, starting from communication, human in everyday life would require communication to receive and convey information, human can not be released from human life. The advancement of the times and the development of technology, causing people to communicate easily and the development of this era caused a new challenge for the PR and PR Crisis of a company, they should be able to maintain a positive image of the company in the minds of people. In this study using descriptive qualitative methodology, it contains many writings and drawings compared to the numbers. The purpose of this research is to know the strategy used by Pizza Hut in dealing with the issue of expired food. Penelitin results, social media is very positive impact on Pizza Hut in the recovery of food issues expired. The strategy used by the Pizza Hut Crisis PR is to utilize social media. Visible from the issue of expired food that disappeared in public and Pizza Hut restaurant until now crowded visited.Latar belakang dari penelitian ini yaitu komunikasi, media baru, PR dan PR Krisis. Keempat dari latar belakang ini mempunyai hubungan yang erat, dimulai dari komunikasi, manusia di dalam kehidupan sehari-hari tentunya memerlukan komunikasi untuk menerima dan menyampaikan informasi, manusia tidak bisa dilepaskan dari kehidupan manusia. Majunya perkembangan zaman dan perkembangan teknologi, menyebabkan manusia melakukan komunikasi dengan mudah dan perkembangan zaman ini menyebabkan adanya tantangan baru bagi para PR dan PR Krisis sebuah perusahaan, mereka harus bisa mempertahankan citra positif perusahaan di benak masyarakat. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi kualitatif deksriptif, memuat banyak tulisan dan gambar dibandingkan angka-angka. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui strategi yang digunakan oleh Pizza Hut dalam menangani isu makanan kedaluwarsa. Hasil penelitin,media sosial sangat membawa dampak positif bagi Pizza Hut dalam pemulihan isu makanan kedaluwarsa. Strategi yang digunakan oleh PR Krisis Pizza Hut adalah dengan memanfaatkan media sosial. Terrlihat dari isu makanan kedaluwarsa yang menghilang di public dan restoran Pizza Hut sampai saat ini ramai dikunjungi.

  The rapid development of new media gives an impact on almost every corner of people’s life. This development also opens the opportunity to the missionaries to use social media as a medium to deliver Islamic propagation. Hence, the transformation occurs in the method of Islamic propagation delivery among the missionaries who started using social media, especially Facebook. This is because social media is suitable as a compliment and an alternative medium to the da’wah medium of the existing. However, the use of social media in delivering the message of Islamic da’wah should be carried out prudently and wisely to different audiences. Accordingly, this research aims to identify the category of the message, the function of the messages, and the delivery strategy of Islamic propagation through the medium of Facebook of five elected missionaries. Five Facebook pages have been chosen and analyzed using the thematic analysis with NVivo software. The theme of this study has been prepared in advance because this research involves the knowledge related to the Islamic laws that have been established by the tenets of Islam. The theoretical framework of this study is built base on the Framing Theory. The results obtained showed that the majority of the messages displayed in the selected Facebook pages categorized as religious missionaries. The function to encourage charity is a message that often discussed in the analyzed entry. However, the strategy of choice for missionaries to be applied on their Facebook page is the writing that has the effect of information. The findings can be referred to the missionaries and also to the government agencies and NGOs in practicing and strategizing before the establishment of Islamic missionary message is disseminated to the public. Utilizing an accurate delivery strategy will be more appealing and provide a positive impact on society.   Keywords: Social media, Facebook, Islamic Da’wah, Framing Theory

New media brings its own challenges to the concept of audiences and penetrates the immersion membrane of sociographic and psychographic audiences that were previously fenced off by constraints on conventional media. Technological developments also utilized by the government of DKI Jakarta by adopting Jakarta Smart City Concept by launching Qlue as a social media application. This paper will discuss Qlue as an interactive social media application and elaborate on how the acceleration of Qlue changes the interactivity of the public and becomes a public sphere for the citizens of DKI Jakarta, furthermore how the tendency of the dynamics of the implementation of Qlue. First, this paper will explain the development and mobile internet that dominates in Indonesia. Second, how approach of Media Ecology Theory sees the presence of Qlue affecting everyday human life. Third Qlue offers as a new social media for the citizens of DKI so as to change the characteristics, dimensions of the audience, and information flows. In the fourth section it will explain the Qlue as the approach of public space perspective and the fifth will highlight the dynamics of Qlue versus cultural lag potential in society. However there are still many factors affecting the implementation of Qlue, because society towards smart city which must be smart society.  Keywords: new media, Qlue, smart city,media convergence, public sphere, cultural lag   ABSTRAK Media baru membawa tantangan tersendiri pada konsep audiensi dan menembus membran imersi penonton sosiografi dan psikografis yang sebelumnya dipagari oleh kendala pada media konvensional. Perkembangan teknologi juga dimanfaatkan oleh pemerintah DKI Jakarta dengan mengadopsi Jakarta Smart City Concept dengan meluncurkan Qlue sebagai aplikasi media sosial. Penelitian ini akan membahas Qlue sebagai aplikasi sosial media interaktif dan menguraikan tentang bagaimana percepatan Qlue mengubah interaktivitas publik dan menjadi ruang publik bagi warga DKI Jakarta, lebih jauh bagaimana kecenderungan dinamika pelaksanaan Qlue. Pertama, tulisan ini akan menjelaskan perkembangan dan mobile internet yang mendominasi di Indonesia. Kedua, bagaimana pendekatan Teori Ekologi Media melihat keberadaan Qlue mempengaruhi kehidupan manusia sehari-hari. Qlue Ketiga menawarkan sebagai media sosial baru bagi warga DKI sehingga dapat mengubah karakteristik, dimensi audiens, dan arus informasi. Pada bagian keempat ini akan menjelaskan Qlue sebagai pendekatan perspektif ruang publik dan kelima akan menyoroti dinamika Qlue versus potensi ketertinggalan budaya dalam masyarakat. Namun masih banyak faktor yang mempengaruhi pelaksanaan Qlue, karena masyarakat menuju kota pintar yang harus cerdas masyarakat Kata Kunci: media baru, qlue, smart city, konvergensi media, ruang publik, ketertinggalan budaya

There are many reasons organizations cancel a festival. Regardless of the rationale, the organization’s reputation can be preserved by communicating this crucial message in an appropriate way and by understanding people’s perception of a cancellation announcement. The purpose of this research is to find out how festival administrators communicate a festival cancellation on social media and how the attendees, who will ultimately determine the success or failure of a festival, react to this message. Between January - June 2018, we collected 47 festival cancellation messages on Facebook and the 8886 replies to these messages. We undertook a content analysis of both the cancellation message and the comments on the Facebook cancellation post. We found that most of the organizers used a primary response strategy, characterized by accepting blame to communicate the cancellation of the festival. This kind of response has a significant positive association with the comments characterized by building relationships. The sentiments in the cancellation posts were mainly shame and sadness and the comments on these posts were most often negative with sad and disgusted sentiments. Findings were somewhat consistent with past research and recommendations provide insight for further theoretical development.

Citizen journalism was initially practiced via mass media. This is because citizens trusted mass media as an independent information channel, and social media like Twitter was unavailable. Following mass media’s affiliation to political parties and the rise of social media, citizens began using Twitter for delivering news or information. We dub this as citizen journalism from street to tweet. This study found that such process indicates the waning of mass media and the intensification of social media. Yet, the process neither strengthened citizen journalism nor increased public participation as it resulted in netizens experiencing severe polarization between groups critical and in support of the government instead. We consider this as a new emerging phenomenon caused by the advent of new media in the post-truth era. In this context, post-truth refers to social and political conditions wherein citizens no longer respect the truth due to political polarization, fake-news-producing journalist, hate-mongering citizen journalism, and unregulated social media activities. Primary data were obtained through in-depth interviews with four informants. While conversation data of netizens on Twitter were acquired from a Twitter conversation reader operated by DEA (Drone Emprit Academic), a big data system capable of capturing and analyzing netizen’s conversations, particularly on Twitter in real time. This study may have implications on the shift of citizen journalism due to its presence in the era of new media. The most salient feature in this new period is the obscurity of news, information, and opinions conveyed by citizens via social media, like Twitter.

AbstrakFenomena pengunaan media sosial sebagai media online semakin massive pada dekade ini. Kalangan muda sebagai generasi milenial atau digital native merupakan pengguna terbesar dalam penggunaan media sosial saat ini. Penelitian mengenai literasi digital masih jarang dilakukan terutama di Indonesia. Subyek penelitian ini adalah kalangan usia muda dengan rentang usia 17–21 tahun yang merupakan pengguna aktif media sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Informan yang dijadikan sampel penelitian sebanyak 5 orang dan 1 orang informan kunci dari pakar literasi media. Temuan yang diperoleh pada penelitian ini menunjukan pentingnya program literasi digital yang memberikan dampak positif bagi pengetahuan, pemahaman dan keterampilan dalam menggunakan media terutama media sosial yang saat ini sering dijadikan sumber informasi oleh khalayak terutama oleh kalangan yang berusia muda. Program ini memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan pada penyebaran informasi dalam menggunakan media massa terutama media sosial yang digunakan oleh kalangan usia muda sehingga ada kesadaran dalam menggunakan media. Pada pendidikan pelatihan (diklat) ini peserta belum semua mempunyai keahlian ini dikarenakan keahlian ini memerlukan latihan yang terus menerus dan konsisten sehingga mereka dapat melakukannya dengan baik. Oleh karena itu pendidikan literasi digital merupakan solusi yang dapat dilakukan oleh pemerintah dan elemen masyarakat dan civitas akademika yang peduli terhadap kemajuan bangsa. AbstractThe phenomenon of the use of social media as an online media is increasingly massive in the use of this decade. Young people as the native millennial or digital generation are the biggest users in the use of social media today. Research on digital literacy is still rare, especially in Indonesia. The subjects of this study were young people aged 17-21 years that were active users of social media. This study uses a qualitative approach to the case study method. The informants who were used as research samples were 5 people and 1 key informant from media literacy experts. The findings obtained in this study indicate the importance of digital literacy programs that have a positive impact on knowledge, understanding and skills in using the media, especially social media which is now often used as a source of information by audiences, especially among young people. information on using mass media, especially social media used by young people so that there is awareness in using the media. In this education participants do not all have this expertise because this skill requires continuous and consistent training so that they can do it well. Therefore digital literacy education is a solution that can be done by the government and elements of society and academics who care about the progress of the nation.

Social media have been increasingly used by sports organizations to communicate with the public. This study explored the Twitter-using practices of National Basketball Association (NBA) clubs (N = 30) in the U.S. in building relationships with their fans during the 2013–14 season. Specifically, it focused on how these clubs used Twitter to build professional, personal, and community relationships through a content analysis of 5,561 tweets on their official Twitter sites. The results suggested that NBA clubs tended to use social media to develop professional relationships with their publics via sharing information and promoting products. There were significant relationships between relationship dimensions and the number of retweets and favorites from Twitter followers. Sports organizations should use social media effectively to strengthen the professional, personal, and community relationships with their publics.

The article presents the results of several studies that demonstrate the impact of new (digital) media on the socialization of adolescents. This article aims to show the problem of studying opportunities and risks in the process of communication of the younger generation in the online space. Researchers whose works are highlighted in this article pointed out the positive impact of new media, as well as pay attention to the following risks that teenagers face on the Web: negative information, cyberbullying, addiction from smartphones and laptops, Internet fraud, and personal data leakage. These and other factors induce the transformation of the psychological state of adolescents, change their consciousness, and correct behavior. To mitigate and eliminate the negative impact of digital media on adolescents, the author proposes to discuss preventive measures systemically, in the government - society - media platform paradigm, noting that the self-regulation of platforms is an essential tool for non-state influence on the situation. The author also notes the need for the formation of media literacy among teenagers and parents.

This article is the result of research on social Media based on the results of the development of internet technology as a new media (newmedia)that has implications in it to give a positive influence andnegatif on human life. The method used is qualitative descriptive whose data is taken through observation at SMAN 1 Pleret Bantul Yogyakarta school. The results of this study show that social media makes it easier for a person to interact and communicate.  Socialcare can also have a big impact on teenagers. Kaum teenagers who are also the most users on social media are very vulnerable and can be victims or perpetrators of cyber   crime, namely privacy  violations.   Remaja as the next generation of the nation must be wise in using social media. Remaja must quickly take langkah by frequently following socialization containing information about actions against cyber crime.Artikel ini adalah hasil penelitian tentang media sosial berbasis dari hasil perkembangan teknologi internet sebagai media baru (new media) yang menimbulkan implikasi didalamnya memberikan pengaruh positif dan negatif pada kehidupan manusia. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif yang datanya diambil melalui observasi di sekolah SMAN 1 Pleret Bantul Yogyakarta. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa media sosial memudahkan seseorang dalam berinteraksi dan berkomunikasi. Media sosial juga bisa memberikan dampak yang besar bagi remaja. Kaum remaja yang juga sebagai pengguna terbanyak di media sosial sangat rentan dan bisa menjadi korban ataupun pelaku dari cyber crime yaitu pelanggaran privasi atau privacy violation. Remaja sebagai generasi penerus bangsa harus dengan bijak dalam menggunakan media sosial. Remaja harus sigap mengambil langkah dengan sering mengikuti sosialisasi yang berisi informasi perihal tindakan melawan cyber crime.

Media baharu memainkan peranan penting di dalam pembangunan sesebuah negara. Kajian ini menerangkan mengenai perhubungan awam, media sosial, etika kerja Islam serta trend penggunaan media baharu dalam kalangan unit perhubungan awam kementerian-kementerian di Malaysia. Hasil kajian yang menggunakan kaedah analisis kandungan keatas jumlah pengikut Facebook, Twitter dan Instagram Kementerian di Malaysia pada bulan Oktober tahun 2019. Hasil kajian menunjukkan tiga Kementerian yang mempunyai paling ramai pengikut adalah Kementerian Kesihatan, Kementerian Pendidikan, Kementerian Dalam Negeri serta Kementerian Belia dan Sukan. New media plays an important role in the development of a country. This study explores public relations, social media, Islamic work ethics and new media usage trends among public relations units of ministries in Malaysia. The results of the study use content analysis method on the Ministry of Malaysia's Followers Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts in October 2019. The results show three Ministries with the most followers are the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Domestic Affair and Ministry of Youth and Sports.
