Unlicensed gold mining (PETI) is rife in the community, especially entrepreneurs / capital owners since the last ten years in Merangin Regency. Lack of awareness of negative impacts is a problem that needs serious attention from the government. There are miners who come from outside and from the community itself. Even though PETI is difficult to overcome, many of the people who own the land have processed it to be planted with rice again. In other places or areas in Indonesia, many ex-PETI lands cannot be planted with rice anymore because they have already contaminated with mercury. Due to the fact that many ex-PETI lands have been re-processed into paddy fields in Merangin Regency, a research was conducted which took place in Pangkalan Jambu District. The reason for choosing Pangkalan Jambu sub-district as the research location is because in this sub-district the largest area of land in Merangin Regency is being mined by the community. The research was conducted with a case study qualitative approach with data collection techniques, observation, interviews and documentation. The purpose of this study was to examine the processing of ex-PETI rice fields into reclamation. The results of the study concluded that the reclamation activity was carried out after several landowners tried to plant rice on the ex-PETI land which was successful and did not encounter any significant obstacles. Starting from here, other residents did the same thing and it turns out that it continues to grow until now. As the reason why rice plants can thrive, it turns out that in this place the miners do not use mercury when mining. Previously, the area of productive rice fields was 1202 ha and now, of the eight villages, the number of rice fields that have been reproducing (reclaimed) is 139 ha. There are 804 ha of rice fields damaged by PETI and there are 259 ha of land that are not damaged but have not yet operated or have not recovered and need to be reclaimed again.

Informed consent may be unobtainable in online contexts. This article examines the difficulties of obtaining informed consent online through a Facebook case study. It is proposed that there are at least two ways informed consent could be waived in research: first, if the data are public, and second, if the data are textual. Accordingly, the publicness of the Facebook News Feed is considered. Taking account of the wide availability of Facebook users’ data, and reflecting on how public those users perceive their information to be, this paper argues that some Facebook data are properly viewed as public to semi-public in nature. A second issue is whether the Facebook News Feed data collection ought to be classified as document-based or human subjects research. Since the Facebook News Feed involves social interaction that may elicit ‘ethically important moments’, this paper proposes that observing it may constitute human subjects research. While informed consent is desirable for human subjects research, it is suggested that Facebook News Feed observations are comparable to observational research in a public space, and thus waiving informed consent in this online setting could be justifiable.

Civic technology is a fast-developing segment that holds huge potential for a new generation of startups. A recent survey report on civic technology noted that the sector saw $430 million in investment in just the last two years. It's not just a new market ripe with opportunity it's crucial to our democracy. Crowdsourcing has proven to be an effective supplementary mechanism for public engagement in city government in order to use mutual knowledge in online communities to address such issues as a means of engaging people in urban design. Government needs new alternatives -- alternatives of modern, superior tools and services that are offered at reasonable rates. An effective and easy-to-use civic technology platform enables wide participation. Response to, and a ‘conversation’ with, the users is very crucial for engagement, as is a feeling of being part of a society. These findings can contribute to the future design of civic technology platforms. In this research, we are trying to introduce a crowdsourcing platform, which will be helpful to people who are facing problems in their everyday practice because of the government services. This platform will gather the information from the trending twitter tweets for last month or so and try to identify which challenges public is confronting. Twitter for crowdsourcing as it is a simple social platform for questions and for the people who see the tweet to get an instant answer. These problems will be analyzed based on their significance which then will be made open to public for its solutions. The findings demonstrate how crowdsourcing tends to boost community engagement, enhances citizens ' views of their town and thus tends us find ways to enhance the city's competitiveness, which faces some serious problems. Using of topic modeling with Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) algorithm helped get categorized civic technology topics which was then validated by simple classification algorithm. While working on this research, we encountered some issues regarding to the tools that were available which we have discussed in the ‘Counter arguments’ section.
