The tendencies of development of air transportation in Ukraine in the period of world globalization and liberalization in the air transportation market are considered. The analysis of domestic air transportation showed that the growth rate of air transportation in the Ukrainian segment of the market, despite the instability of the military- political and economic situation in the country, is optimistic for predicting the future development of air transportation in Ukraine. The growth of the main indicators of the work of civil aviation in Ukraine demonstrates the growing interest of market participants in air transportation. The passenger air transportation market of Ukraine has sufficient prerequisites for its successful development. First of all, this is due to a significant increase in passenger transportation by air, the creation of new airlines in Ukraine, namely low-cost airlines, the entry of new foreign airlines into the airspace of Ukraine, the opening of new airlines by Ukrainian carriers, the approval of a visa- free regime with EU countries, and the modernization of existing infrastructure air- ports and their development, taking into account modern requirements. The main production indicators are presented and passenger traffic analysis is carried out. It has been determined that the development of civil aviation is related to the general tendencies of international air transport and is conditioned by both global and nation- al socio-economic, political and other factors. The main directions of the industry for a third of the decade of the 21st century are determined.

The aim of this paper is to analyse and explain the impact of air transportation on the development of tourism in the Croatian littoral. The analysis was made by using the data collected from flight schedules and airport authorities. The data on frequency of lines and number of passengers were analysed in order to correlate the distribution of the number of passengers with the number of tourists during the year. In this case, the correlation between the number of passengers and the number of arrivals/number of overnight stays is observed. Data for the time period from 2008 till 2010 were analysed in more detail by dividing the passengers into four categories: full-service passengers, low-cost passengers, charter passengers and general aviation passengers. Major touristic markets are identified on the basis of the number of connections between European and Croatian littoral airports. The last part of the paper deals with the increasing impact of low-cost services on the development of tourism in the Croatian littoral region. This is due to the fact that low-cost carriers have accounted for a considerable part of air transport in the last few years.

Abstract   Flight services at Fatmawati Soekarno Airport, located in Bengkulu City, continue to develop, along with the increasing public need for air transportation. The increasing need for aviation services affects the number and types of aircraft required. Aircraft maneuvering and parking affect the dimensions of the aircraft parking space. In this study, an analysis of the dimensions of the apron at Fatmawati Soekarno Airport was carried out, with a service life of 20 years. The analysis in this study was carried out using the design aircraft B737-900ER. The existing apron dimension lot is 475 m long and 80 m wide. By using the International Civil Aviation Organization method and the Federal Aviation Administration method, to accommodate aircraft movements for the next 20 years, an apron with a length of 475 m and a width of 100 m is required. Thus, the width of the existing apron must be increased by 20 m, in order to be able to serve the B737-900ER aircraft until the service life of the next 20 years.   Keywords: airport; flight services; apron; air transport.     Abstrak   Layanan penerbangan di Bandar Udara Fatmawati Soekarno, yang terletak di Kota Bengkulu, terus mengalami perkembangan, seiring dengan meningkatnya kebutuhan masyarakat akan transportasi udara. General Aviation is a separate segment of Civil Aviation, taking into account different type of aviation activities it includes recreational and sport aviation, business aviation, aerial work and flight training. Also it is often overlooked in the aviation statistics. This article concerns mainly the statistics of General Aviation in the airports of the South Poland. This research paper raises also the issue of the whole sector of General Aviation - its characteristics and features, which determine it as a separate branch of air transport. Therefore, the general statistics of the considered air transport segment are presented as the first step, and only then the results of air traffic analysis in the selected airports are described, namely International Airport Kraków–Balice, Wrocław–Copernicus Airport, Katowice International Airport and Rzeszów–Jasionka Airport. The evaluation of trends in General Aviation as well as the determination of opportunities to develop this sector of air transport were done.

Abstract. Civil aviation is broadly categorized into two sectors: air transportation and general aviation. While the former sector is considered to be ultrasafe the latter requires a stronger focus on safety improvement. There has been considerable research examining the causes of general aviation accidents with a view to improving safety. However, there has been very limited research specifically focused on accidents involving training flights and associated causal factors. A total of 293 training flight accident reports, comprising 111 fatal and 182 nonfatal accidents were reviewed and analyzed to identify causes of training-flight accidents. The study found that based on the odds ratio, if a fatal accident involving training flights occurred it was 4.05 times more likely to be a dual training flight. Other findings included that most accidents occurred during the landing phase and the majority of accidents related to skill deficiency (e.g., an improper/inadequate flare). This was a major causal factor in nonfatal accidents in both dual and solo training flights. However, on dual training flights there were more fatal accidents involving decision deficiencies and mechanical malfunctions (e.g., loss of engine power). A previous study suggested that lack of supervision of student pilots by flight instructors was found to be a main causal factor and thus flight instructor training and recurrency requirements need to be reviewed.

Abstract In the review below the author presents a general overview of the selected contemporary legal issues related to the present growth of the aviation industry and the development of aviation technologies. The review is focused on the questions at the intersection of aviation law and personal data protection law. Massive processing of passenger data (Passenger Name Record, PNR) in IT systems is a daily activity for the contemporary aviation industry. Simultaneously, since the mid- 1990s we can observe the rapid growth of personal data protection law as a very new branch of the law. The importance of this new branch of the law for the aviation industry is however still questionable and unclear. This article includes the summary of the author’s own research conducted between 2011 and 2017, in particular his audits in LOT Polish Airlines (June 2011-April 2013) and Lublin Airport (July - September 2013) and the author’s analyses of public information shared by International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), International Air Transport Association (IATA), Association of European Airlines (AEA), Civil Aviation Authority (ULC) and (GIODO). The purpose of the author’s research was to determine the applicability of the implementation of technical and organizational measures established by personal data protection law in aviation industry entities.
