The main focus of this study is the qualitative analysis of the phenomenon of stress and its influence on the productivity in the working environment. In order to create a clear point of view in the stress-productivity ratio, this study has been channeled in the profession of nurses. For this reason there were selected 8 nurses from the General Hospital in the city of Elbasan, from which 7 are females and 1 is a male. Every member underwent a structured interview, which contains 15 claims. From the analysis of the results it was concluded that the stress has a wide range of spreading and a considerable amount of influence among nurses and their productivity. Furthermore, there were identified some factors and sources of stress such as: the condition of the patients, the lack of working tools and medicaments, people’s irresponsibility, the lack of respect toward the hospital’s rules, misunderstandings, the work overload and the relationship with the colleagues. Towards the end of the study there are offered some recommendations for the stress management in the working environment, based on the elements which were evidenced from the data analysis

One of the goals of nursing is health promotion, and because of that, the study of the environment, standing for the relationship between the professional and society, must be fully incorporated into nurses’ qualifications. This study aimed to analyze the insertion of environmental issues into a nursing degree in a middle-sized Brazilian city from the point of view of the different actors involved: professors, students, and coordinators. The study had a mixed-methods design. Data collection was done through a documentary analysis of political teaching projects; questionnaires to nursing students; and semi-structured interviews with coordinators and professors of Higher Education Institutions of the city. The quantitative data analysis was done through statistical methods and the Scott‒Knott Test; the qualitative data analysis was done through the content analysis proposed by Bardin. The results demonstrate a lack of proper handling of environmental issues, with the work only involving the specific environmental subjects that are the most prominent. Although environmental issues are only inserted at random into the teaching, the students still understand the importance of environmental knowledge as it applies to the technical subjects of the nursing degree.

The research presented in this paper is aimed at defining a model that enables the management of the relationship between private vehicles and public transport applying the available instruments of city transport policy such as parking policy and public transport policy measures. Statistical data used for modelling is sourced from the database in a wide range of EU cities. The target model was developed in the form of stepwise regression analysis. Very favourable statistical results were obtained, and the subsequent tests on the city of Novi Sad (250000 inhabitants) led to the conclusion that the obtained results were suitable for implementation in practice. The results of the implemented procedure are of great importance for the enhancement of the existing transport policies in cities, as they enable the development of strategies for finding combinations of instruments that would bring the transport system and urban environment into a desired-viable rather than consequential condition.

Abstract Objectives To describe the process of translating and adapting the Relationship Scales Questionnaire (RSQ) from English into Brazilian Portuguese and to present the results of its test-retest reliability using the version developed for interview application. Methodology The process was based on the guidelines of the International Society for Pharmaeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR), which propose 10 steps for the translation and cross-cultural adaptation of self-administered instruments. The original authors of the RSQ have agreed to the translation. The interview version was applied to a sample of 43 healthy elders (≥60 years old) enrolled in a primary health care program in the city of Porto Alegre, state of Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil, and then reapplied. The scores of the two applications were compared using the paired sample t-test. Results Only 6 of the 30 items required the adaptation of words or expressions to maintain its conceptual and semantic equivalence. The self-administered form of the RSQ posed difficulties for elders due to visual deficiencies and lower education level, both common in this age group, demonstrating a need for the development of a version of the RSQ in a structured interview format. Only the measure for secure attachment presented significant differences after the application of the retest, indicating reliability of the version being proposed. Conclusion Translation of the RSQ is the first step towards the validation of an attachment evaluation instrument for use in the elderly population in Brazil, allowing for future studies on this topic.

The Integrating Data Analysis (IDA) approach to undergraduate education developed by the American Sociological Association (ASA) and the Social Science Data Analysis Network (SSDAN) has been embedded in the undergraduate sociology curriculum at Lehman College, The City University of New York (CUNY), since 2003. This study draws on student and faculty assessment data from the fall 2004 and spring 2006 semesters to evaluate the effectiveness of this initiative. The results show that students in courses with an IDA component significantly improved their performance on quantitative skills tests. Efforts to engage students in active learning through the use of computers were associated with increased student comfort and greater interest in working with data. In turn, students who were comfortable working with data exhibited especially high levels of quantitative skill. Although students who were taught a wide variety of data analysis skills reported greater interest in working with data, those who were taught a more limited range of skills achieved higher performance scores. Likewise, students who were required to complete assignments and undertake graded examinations that tested a wide range of quantitative skills had less interest in working with data but achieved greater improvements in their test scores.

The information eco-environment of the city, aimed at attracting investment, is designed to solve the problems of forming investment attractiveness, protection from unscrupulous investors, obtaining reliable information when justifying the implementation of investment projects, participation in them. Considering the dynamism of modern investment processes, the creation of an effective information eco-environment is an important component of the development of the investment process, especially from the point of view of ensuring effective interaction of its participants and attracting a wide range of investors to the investment activity process. Therefore, it is necessary to assess the impact of the information eco-environment on the processes of investment in the urban environment and increase the investment attractiveness of the city. However, the features of information support of the investment market specifically at the municipal level remain insufficiently studied. Based on the analysis of literary sources and an expert survey, this article examines the forms of information disclosure that are most effective from the point of view of investors; factors of investment attractiveness that should be paid attention to when forming an information eco-environment. Finally, this article suggests the identification of key areas of development of the urban information eco-environment, which can be transformed into the investment attractiveness of the city. The results showed that the systematic use of the information eco-environment of the city should create conditions for users to receive the necessary information promptly, which contributes to the activation of investment activity, increasing its efficiency.

AbstractPower is a key concept in institutional talk as it structures both the discourse of that institution and the relationships within it. It influences the formation of identities and is highly indicative of the culture the institution promotes. Humour serves a wide range of functions within an organization and is closely related to power. The paper aims to investigate the relationship between power and humour in educational setting, namely a high school. It analyses two different meetings – a school board meeting and an evaluation meeting, both held in the same school; these meetings differ in terms of formality, number of participants, and purpose. The paper aims to identify the way humour is used by the more and less powerful participants in the meetings. The paper is structured into two parts – a theoretical presentation of power and humour and the data analysis. The practical part looks separately at each meeting and at the functions humour serves when used by the power holders and the subordinates.

This article considers the relationship between the official, legislated claims of heritage conservation in India and the wide range of episodic and transitory inhabitations that have animated and transformed the monumental remains of the city, or rather cities, of Delhi. Delhi presents a spectrum of monumental structures that appear variously to either exist in splendid isolation from the rush of everyday urban life or to peek out amidst a palimpsest of unplanned, urban fabric. The repeated attempts of the state archaeological authorities to disambiguate heritage from the quotidian life of the city was frustrated by bureaucratic lapses, casual social occupations, and deliberate challenges. The monuments offered structural and spatial canvases for lives within the city, providing shelter, solitude, and the possibility of privacy, as well as devotional and commercial opportunity. The dominant comportment of the city's monuments during the twentieth century was a hybrid monumentality, in which the jealous, legislated custody of the state became anxious, ossified, and ineffectual. An acknowledgement and acceptance of the hybridity of Delhi's monuments offers an opportunity to reorient understandings of urban heritage.
