The domestic and foreign practice of project conflict management and resolution is analysed. The concepts of “conflict” and “contradiction” are differentiated. The modern point of view on the essence of the conflict is revealed, suggesting that the conflict does not always have negative consequences. In some cases, it is necessary to increase the effectiveness of the project implementation, so sometimes managers are required to stimulate its development (escalation of the conflict). The specific features of the escalation of the conflict and its relevance in a particular conflict situation are determined. The psychological features of the conflict escalation are analysed, which are manifested in the reluctance of domestic leaders to take the problem higher because of the fear of not being able to cope with the management of the conflict. Strategies for managing project conflicts are highlighted, and a conceptual model for managing them is proposed.

The subject of this article is the application of game theory (GT) to solve the problem occurring in the management of construction contracts. One of the fundamental reasons for disputes between the investor (IN) and the general contractor (GC) is payment for supplementary works—an additional expenditure incurred by GC that was not planned at the tender stage. If IN delays signing the annex to the contract and rejects any financial and timeframe-related claims, GC usually considers one of the two strategies: to stop works or to continue works without the annex and the guarantee of payment for additional works. IN also analyzes the consequences of adopting one of the two strategies: not to sign the annex, or to sign the annex and pay for the additional work. The aim of the presented game is to indicate the optimal strategy from the GC point of view in the conflict situation with IN. The article defines the background of the problem, the cause of the dispute, and formulates a theoretical model of the game.

The subject of the study is conflict, its essence and conflictological culture from the point of view of the formation of the company’s employees’ behavior style in conflict situations in the organizational field. The article considers components of the conflictological culture, the contexts of conflicts and the optimal styles of behavior of the individual. Due to the fact that the behavior of the opponent is a marker for the adoption of an effective strategy of actions, the author examines effective conflict management based on the study of the types of behavior of the opponent in a conflict situation. The paper notes that the conflictological culture of the individual in the context of problematic interpersonal interaction acts as an integrative quality based on the existential-humanistic apparatus of values, communicative, behavioral and psychological culture, and manifests itself in the optimal tactics of behavior aimed at constructive conflict resolution. The study concludes that conflict, as a phenomenon, contains the potential for the development and improvement of employees’ experience and skills in resolving difficult situations.

The article deals with a special type of euphemisms-amulets, that is, linguocultural units endowed with the function of protection. There are two types of euphemisms-amulets from the point of view of relevance: obsolete and current units. Obsolete euphemisms- amulets have targets that are not recognized as dangerous by the modern linguistic and cultural community. Current euphemisms-amulets, although not always consciously, are used by representatives of the modern Russian linguistic and cultural community to protect against something bad. The paper establishes that the use of the euphemism-amulet is based on the transla- tion of the target's representation into another cultural code. The work reveals that the euphemisms-amulets are directed not to mitigate an unwanted nomination but how to replace it. An undesirable nomination is endowed with negative magical properties, which is why the linguocultural community imposes a ban on its use. A protective cultural function is superim- posed on the euphemism. The main pragmatic explanation for the use of the euphemism- amulet is the speaker's desire not to predict an encounter with an unwanted object, which is based on belief in the magical power of the word. The factors that determine the linguocultural specificity of euphemisms-amulets are revealed. The first factor is target selection. For the Russian linguocultural community, such targets include a totemic animal, evil forces representing another world, death. The second factor is the selection of nominations for the euphemistic function, which is determined by culturally marked background knowledge, ideas, and typical practices. The communicative- pragmatic platform for the use of euphemisms-amulets is the belief in the magical power of the word, in the fact that the use of the forbidden word can lead to negative consequences (in particular, to cause the appearance of something dangerous, undesirable). The work proves that the identified cultural factors are universal, based on universal archetypes: one's own / another's, permission / prohibition, life / death. At the same time, the fact of the appearance of the euphemism-amulet, the choice of its internal form is determined by national and cultural factors.

In this article, the author, based on previous research determines the place and role of penitentiary information in the process of disclosure and investigation of crimes. It is specified that penitentiary information turns into procedural and, accordingly, into proofs by means of step-by-step passing through a complex of actions exposed in forms of the penitentiary, operational-search and procedural legislation. The most vulnerable places from the point of view of substantial filling and procedural registration of the data received within regime activity are established. These are the places of “articulation” of activities. It is concluded that the basis for this kind of statement is the difference in regulatory regulation, in the turnover and goal-setting of performers, as well as their representation of the criteria for the success of the work performed. As a confirmation of the proposed thesis, an example from the law enforcement practice of using penitentiary information in the process of proving having negative consequences is given. Directions of improvement of receiving penitentiary information for the purpose of strengthening of its evidentiary potential are offered.

A new idea about the fractal nature of Maldives archipelago is under investigation. The origin of this famous Maldivian islands’ country is still questionable from geodynamic point of view. The present study is focused to the assessment of the fractal properties and the coefficients of the nonlinearity (fractal dimensions) of the areal spatial distribution of the major atolls of the Maldives. This is the most vulnerable area in the world from point of view of the global warming and the possible negative consequences to the country and population from the ocean level increase. From another side the natural hazards (tsunamis, storms, etc.) are common negative phenomena attacking the country. The strongly developed tourism – more than 30% of the GDP and the increased urbanization is another factor creating ecological problems to the local population. The relationships between the fractal nature and the possible ways to avoid the pollution are also in the focus of this research.

Abstract The paper presents the results of using two models: a conceptual model of Wackermann and a NRCS-UH synthetic unit hydrograph, for flow calculation in uncontrolled catchment of the Słonka, Poland. These models were chosen because of simplicity of models’ parameters evaluation, what is important from engineering calculation point of view. Flows with the probability of exceed amounting to 0.5%, 1%, 2%, 5%, 10%, 20%, and 50% and for different levels of the catchment moisture were evaluated. The flood waves generated in the Wackermann model were characterized by a short duration (over 2 hours), shorter concentration time (about 1 hour), and by about 70% higher peak flow values than those generated using the NRCS-UH method. A common feature of both methods were higher values of peak flows for the third level of the catchment moisture, as compared to the second level. It is also worth noticing that in both methods no flood wave was generated for the probabilities of 10, 20 and 50% and for the second level of the catchment moisture. It was assumed that hydrographs made with use Wackermann model better describe flood wave in mountain river, which Słonka is.

The monograph, on the one hand, examines the period of development of the descending cycle of evolution and the associated progressive changes that show the irreversibility of the processes of formation of the planetary system. The end of one cycle and the beginning of another leads to the transformation of the system of life and the expansion of consciousness at a new energy level. On the other hand, the questions of potential opportunities for the development of the ascending phase of evolution, which goes both along the path of complexity of the organization and along the path of diversity, are considered. In the ascending evolutionary stream, what has been differentiated into the corresponding levels in the descending cycle is brought together and thus prepared to enter into new, more perfect forms of unity. It is shown that the development of humanity along its entire path depends on the interaction of energies of various forms and potentials. Understanding the relationships between different types of energy and their use provides insight into many important issues in the evolution of society. The material introduces the modern features of the existence of the male and female sexes from the energy point of view. The idea of a way out of the current conflict situation that has arisen between the sexes at the present stage of evolution is proposed. It will be useful for those interested in the problems of scientific knowledge, architects, philosophers, historians, physicists and methodologists of science, students and students of secondary schools.

The article describes the process and the result of a series of seminars "Education of the Future: Communicative Design", held to develop a conceptual model of the educational program on communicative design. The purpose of the seminars was to identify the needs of graphic artists from the point of view of improving the quality and the relevance of education. Goal setting was preceded by a triune problem of mismatch of the existing educational program with modern realities, represented by: the students' vision; a set of competencies; training directions. The methodology to study the current situation is chosen "from the bottom up", when students directly or indirectly describe the educational environment in which they would like to be. To do this, a few weeks before the seminars, participants received background information about what communicative design is in the form of an article and XNUMX keywords (modules) that they had to work with. The first seminar involved the placement of modules for training courses. At the second stage, it was necessary to evaluate the modules according to the relevance of their use in the educational program. At the third stage, which was eventually combined with the fourth, participants had to arrange conditional modules for six specializations (educational trajectories): contemporary art, illustrator, digital designer, graphic designer, art and creative director, motion designer. The result of the seminars was a conceptual model of the educational program on communicative design, presented as a set of conditional modules distributed by training courses and volume (duration) in the context of the educational program. It was also revealed that the educational program on communicative design can and should combine all six specializations (educational trajectories). Only this approach will allow the graduate to become a sought-after specialist in the modern professional environment and the labor market.

Topic of discussions over the last decades, the literature related to the care of patients suffering from poly-trauma, under the assistance point of view, is sufficiently consolidated concerning to the adoption of best practices, what, usually are conducted and disseminated by accrediting organizations. However, expanding the search frontier beyond the assistance dimension, it's noticed the divergences between the recent researches or theoretical shortcomings regarding to the design and management of these operations. In face of this finding, noticed from a literature review in the most important bases of operations management and health, it's adopted a conceptual model which covers relevant elements of the project of an operation, such as: strategy, capacity, human resources, incentive systems, organizational structure and decision making; in order to systematize the current stage of the field, highlighting the differences between recent studies and proposing a set of practices and premises, which are necessary for the operationalization of the proposed model.
