The article presents the indicators of the functional state of male students in the process of sectional lessons in volleyball in a higher educational institution. Young men 18-19 years old from Zaporozhye State University took part in the experiment, they were engaged in volleyball in sectional classes. In contrast to the control group, in which the classes were conducted according to the traditional program, in the experimental group - according to the experimental program with the complex use of sports games. The goal was to scientifically substantiate an experimental program of sectional volleyball classes to improve the functional state of male students of a higher educational institution on the basis of the integrated use of sports games. The object of the research is the process of physical education of male students of higher educational institutions. The subject of the research is the influence of the experimental program of sectional lessons in volleyball on the functional state of male students of a higher educational institution. Research methods: analysis and generalization of scientific and methodological literature and documentary materials; pedagogical observation; pedagogical experiment; assessment of physical performance and aerobic capacity according to the PWC170 submaximal test; a package of computer programs for express assessment of the functional state of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, physical health of students (computer programs «SHVSM» and «OVEREG», methods of mathematical statistics. The main task of the study: to assess the effectiveness of the influence of the experimental program of sectional volleyball lessons with complex use means of sports games for young students aged 18-19 years of higher educational institution on the functional state The analysis of the results of the experiment, in which the influence of the experimental program of sectional optional volleyball lessons with the integrated use of basketball and handball means for young students was studied, testified to rather high prospects of the proposed by us approach to improve the system of sectional elective classes in a higher educational institution.

Introduction: The level of health and physical fitness of the students of Ukrainian higher educational institutions has worsened in recent years. It conditions the search for effective solutions to this problem and determines the significance of the investigation. The aim: To investigate the level of physical development and functional state of the students of agricultural educational institutions during study. Materials and methods: The investigation was conducted in Zhytomyr National Agroecological University in 2016–2018. Seventy three students (38 male and 35 female students) took part in the investigation. The level of physical development and functional state of students was defined according to the next tests: body length, body weight, wrist dynamometry, lung capacity, heart rate, systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The level of students’ physical health was examined according to the methodology by G. L. Apanasenko and determined the interrelation of the levels of physical health of the students of different genders during the investigation. Results: It is determined that the majority of the students’ investigated indicators are not improved during the first and the second years of study (p>0.05). The level of the students’ physical health remained unchanged during study. Moreover, the health level of both male and female students is rated as low during all stages of the investigation. Сonclusions: The conducted analysis proves the necessity of the current physical education system improvement at Ukrainian higher educational institutions in order to improve the students’ physical development and functional state, health and efficiency of the educational and future professional activity.

Purpose: on the basis of a review of modern special literature, develop a questionnaire and analyze the attitude of students to physical education. Material and Methods: the study was conducted on the basis of the Department of Physical Education, Sports and Human Health, Mariupol State University. The study involved 78 students of the 1st year of study, of which 38 students (Gr. 1) and 40 students (Gr. 2). Everyone was asked to answer the question of the developed questionnaire. Results: despite the fact that only 39% of girls and 52% of boys tolerate physical activity, according to the answers, only 21% of female students and 30% of students attend sports sections 2-3 times a week, the rest consider it sufficient to attend physical education classes at the University. At the same time, 44% of female students and 35% of students suffer from colds 3-4 times a year, which in the future, against the background of a decrease in immunity, can lead to chronic diseases. There is also a tendency towards the abuse of low alcohol drinks. Only 31% of female students and 25% of students are fully satisfied with physical culture at the University. According to many students, physical culture should take into account the interests of the students themselves in the form of sectional classes. According to our survey, 63% of girls want to go in for fitness, 37% - power sports, 2 times a week instead of physical education lessons. Conclusions: there is a problem in the current system of physical education, it is necessary to develop and implement innovative directions for improving the process of physical education.

The reliability of the scientific research results is largely determined by the level of adequacy of selection and the complexity of the application of methods and means that provide pedagogical influences on the students‟ body. Purpose: to establish changes in the psychophysiological indicators of higher educational institution students (boys and girls) based on the results of the implementation of training programs at different individual and motivational levels of the swimming training system. Material and methods. To the study involved students (boys and girls) aged 18-20 years old, who studied at Kherson State University during 2020-2021 academic year. The contingent of students was: 1EG, n = 28 boys and 23 girls; 2EG, n = 25 boys and 26 girls; 3EG, n = 21 boys and 23 girls; 4EG, n = 23 boys and 21 girls; CG, n = 32 boys and 29 girls. Results. During the implementation of classes program of different methodological content at different individual and motivational levels of swimming training system of higher educational institution students (boys and girls) in all groups without exception recorded statistically significant internal changes in psychophysiological indicators, mostly in percentage values and statistical probability (boys and girls) of the control group. Conclusions. Improving the strength of nervous processes in the structure of psychophysiological readiness of student youth indicates the promotion of domestic and professional activities. This also indicates a fact that the implementation of training programs at different individual and motivational levels of swimming training system has a positive effect on psychophysiological qualities, reactions, variants of complex visual and motor reaction and tapping test indirectly indicates the acquisition of abilities to general performance.

Intensive renewal of the socio-economic, scientific and technical spheres and the spiritual life of society determines high requirements for the capacity of the individual. Graduates of higher educational institutions determine the future of our country, so they must not only have a high level of professional readiness, but also be physically enduring, efficient and healthy. These personality traits are formed and improved during the student years by means of physical education. Physical education in higher educational institutions is an integral part of education. The level of their physical development and health depends on the quality of the organization and conduct of classes with students. At present, the health of the younger generation is of serious concern. Numerous works of modern researchers point to an increase in the level of diseases and focus on a decrease in the functional resistance of the body of students to physical activity. The subject of the research is the methodology of using means of physical culture and health-improving orientation in physical education classes. The aim of the research is to determine the influence of physical culture and health-improving orientation classes on the physical fitness of first-year students. Research objectives: to conduct an analysis of scientific and methodological literature and advanced pedagogical experience in relation to the topic under study; to determine the level of physical fitness of female students, using complex testing and to reveal the dynamics of indicators of physical fitness; to develop a program of physical education classes to improve the level of physical fitness and health of female students; to experimentally check the developed training methodology and determine its feasibility of introducing it into the educational process in physical education. In the course of organizing and conducting a scientific experiment, the following methods were used: analysis and generalization of scientific and methodological literature, pedagogical observations, control testing, mathematical processing of results. The study involved first-year students who study at the National University "Odesa Law Academy" and do not play sports. In the course of the experiment, a program of physical education classes was developed, which included sets of exercises for the development of physical qualities, as well as a health-improving orientation. These complexes were used in each physical education lesson twice a week on a schedule. The study made it possible to draw the following conclusions. The analysis of the results shows that at the initial stage of the research the majority of female students showed low results in all the tests. After conducting classes according to our methodology, at the second stage of the experiment, the results for some tests improved significantly. Thus, the proposed program of health related training had a positive impact on the results of physical fitness of female students.
