Expertise Competency Test (UKK) is part of government intervention in ensuring the quality of education in Vocational High School education units. One of the government's efforts to improve students' knowledge and skills, especially for Vocational High Schools, is by holding a skill competency test that determines student graduation. Competency testing is needed to determine a person's ability or competence according to professional standards. To be accepted to work in the world of work, a person must be competent, which is evidenced by, among other things, a competency certificate through a competency test. A person is said to have the competence (competent) in a particular field if he has the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to complete the job correctly by the demands of professionalism. The purpose of implementing this UKK is to measure the competency attainment of Rigomasi Vocational High School students at a certain level according to the expertise of heavy equipment automation engineering majors taken during the learning period at school

The subject of this paper is vocational education in vocational high schools in Poland and its aim is to argue that presently vocational high schools fail at providing their students with qualifications necessary to work in their profession of choice. The problem is important as the unemployment rate among young people is high while the employers claim there is a deficit of qualified workforce on the labour market. The paper presents the results of a survey carried out among vocational high school students which showed that 95 % of students believe that 4 weeks of apprenticeships is insufficient. Given the opinions of the employers and the results of the survey among the vocational high school students, it seems surprising that the changes made to the vocational core curriculum were not more substantial.

Assessment is an activity that must be done in each lesson. Educational assessment is the process of gathering and processing information to determine the achievement of student learning outcomes. A good assessment must be carried out both in the learning process and in the final learning outcomes. The teaching and learning process in Vocational High Schools includes an explanation of science or study subjects and practice. With the complexity of learning in the Vocational High School, the assessment that is applied must be appropriate and can include the assessment of students as a whole. The assessment applied at the Vocational High School at this time is authentic assessment, where the assessment assesses three aspects of each student. The three aspects namely knowledge assessment, skills assessment and attitude assessment. Authentic assessment measures the overall student learning outcomes because this assessment assesses the progress of student learning not just the end result of student learning. Vocational high school students are prepared to work, therefore not only knowledge and skills must be invested because attitude is more important than both aspects. In other words, vocational high school students must be able to balance their knowledge and skills and be accompanied by a good attitude in each process.
