ABSTRACTThis study aims to uncover the moral sessages contained in the text of the Suluk Tanén. The research approach used is descriptive qualitative. The analysis technique in this research is content analysis and philological studies using a standard edition of a single text editing method. The result of this research is the text of Suluk Tanén containing moral messages about how to achieve a perfect life the teachings contained therein are the teachings of perfection of life to attain the great manunggaling kawula Gusti. In the text Suluk Tanén explains the deepening of the mind as an effort to reach the level of perfection including the sarengat, tarekat, hakekat, and makrifat so that a servant gets a peace so that it can show that our has actually lived. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap pesan moral yang terkandung dalam teks Suluk Tanén. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik analisis pada penelitian ini adalah analisis konten dan kajian filologi dengan metode penyuntingan teks tunggal edisi standar. Hasil penelitian ini ialah teks Suluk Tanѐn  berisi ajaran moral tentang bagaimana cara mencapai hidup yang sempurna. Ajaran yang terkandung di dalamnya merupakan ajaran-ajaran kesempurnaan hidup untuk mencapai makrifat manunggaling kawula Gusti. Di dalam teks Suluk Tanѐn menjelaskan pendalaman batin sebagai upaya untuk menempuh tingkatan kesempurnaan meliputi sarengat (syariat), tarekat, hakekat dan makrifat agar manusia (seorang hamba) mendapatkan suatu ketentraman sehingga mampu menunjukkan bahwa dirinya telah hidup dengan sebenarnya.

This study discusses the psychological aspects of the main character. The purpose of the study is to explain the understanding and details in depth about the personality and emotional classification of the main character. This is a descriptive qualitative study. The approach used is literary psychology. The documentation technique by means of reading and taking notes is used to obtain data from Hamka's novelette entitled “Waiting for the Sounding”. The content analysis technique is used in this study to find information and in-depth understanding of the data collected. Data validation uses theory triangulation. The results and discussion show that Mr. Sharif's personality is influenced by the id, the ego, and the superego. Mr. Sharif in the novelette is described as having a lonely character and suffering from the life he lived. He worked as a Dutch employee in order to escape the misery of the colonial period at that time. Therefore, it seems that Mr. Sharif’s various emotions demonstrate a form of conflict both with oneself (internal conflict) in the form of regret and feelings of guilt and with the environment (external conflict) in the form of love, envy and hate, and loneliness

The purpose of the study was to describe the application of cooperative learning methods in improving student learning outcomes of Physical Education subjects in the volleyball sport in fifth-grade students of SD Inpres Sungguminasa, Gowa Regency. The research approach is a descriptive qualitative approach with Classroom Action Research (CAR) and four Cycle I and Cycle II meetings. It consists of four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The data source for this research is the fifth-grade students of SD Inpres Bercepat Gowa, as many as 24 students consisting of 9 male students and 15 female students. Data collection uses observation, tests, and documentation, while the data analysis technique used is descriptive qualitative analysis technique. The results of the quantitative analysis of learning the game of volleyball showed that out of 24 students, only 13 students with a percentage of 54.17% completed in Cycle I with an average score of 72.96, while of 24 students, only 23 students with a rate of 95.83% achieved in Cycle II with an average score. Average 80.56. So it can be concluded that this research is through a cooperative learning model that can improve volleyball games' learning outcomes

AbstractThis study aims to reveal the types of moral existence of the main character Syekh Siti Jenar, the disclosure and description of the moral of Sheikh Siti Jenar, and the moral of Sheikh Siti Jenar with the reality of life in the Laker Babad Tanah Pengging by Saini K.M. The study was conducted form October 2016 to August 2017. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with content analysis technique starting focus of research, data collection, verification of data validity, analyze, interpret, find, verify, and conclude. The results show that this play contains a positive moral existence that can be used as a reference to study literature. The content of the play is closely related to the life of the community so the result of the research is suggested that the play "Syekh Siti Jenar in Babad Tanah Pengging," by Saini K.M. can serve as a medium for teaching individual, social, and moral religious which concerned about the moral issues of the students that occur in the process of literary learning.Keywords: The play, Main Figures, and existence of Moral

This research aims to know the intrinsic and extrinsic elements of the panji story contained in the script Panji Kuda Narawangsa which is translated by Moelyono Sastronaryatmo and R. Aj. Indri Nitrani and its implications for literature learning in high school. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with content analysis technique. The focus of this research is the element of the banner story in the script Panji Kuda Narawangsa. The conclusions of this study are: (1) the most dominant theme in this story is the theme of romance, the other themes are the theme of incarnation and war, (2) there are main figures, supporting figures, and supporting figures, (3) setting of place and time dominated the story, (4) extrinsic elements of the panji story are religious values, cultural values, social values, and moral values. Keywords: Panji Kuda Narawangsa, story elements, hermeneutics   Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui unsur intrinsik dan ekstrinsik cerita Panji yang terdapat dalam naskah Panji Kuda Narawangsa yang dialihbahasakan oleh Moelyono Sastronaryatmo dan R. Aj. Indri Nitrani dan implikasinya terhadap pembelajaran sastra di SMA. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik analisis isi. Kesimpulan penelitian ini yaitu: (1) tema yang paling dominan dalam cerita Panji ini adalah tema percintaan, tema-tema yang lain adalah tema penjelmaan dan peperangan, (2) terdapat tokoh utama, tokoh pembantu, dan tokoh pendukung, (3) latar tempat dan latar waktu mendominasi cerita ini, (4) unsur ekstrinsik cerita panji berupa nilai agama, nilai budaya, nilai sosial, dan nilai moral. <p><em>This research aims to describe Islamic religious value within Javanese traditional idioms. It employs descriptive qualitative method. The data in this study was collected using note-taking technique. To find the Islamic religious value within Javanese traditional idioms, the researcher used hermeneutics-content-analysis technique. The findings were (1) the belief of Gusti’s (God) existence, (2) the compliance to Gusti (God), (3) the plea for Gusti’s (God) power, and (4) the gratitude for Gusti’s (God) mercies and benevolences. The Islamic religious values, as part of Javanese local wisdom, should be conserved by the youth. The values should also be used as Javanese life guidance to build well-founded characters and ideal personalities.</em></p><p><br /><em>Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan nilai religi Islam yang terkandung di dalam ungkapan tradisional Jawa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan di dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik simak-catat. Untuk menemukan nilai religi Islam yang terdapat dalam ungkapan tradisional Jawa, peneliti menggunakan teknik analisis isi secara hermeneutik. Hasil penelitian mencakup (1) keyakinan terhadap keberadaan Tuhan (Allah), (2) kepasrahan terhadap keagungan Tuhan (Allah), (3) permohonan terhadap kekuasaan Tuhan (Allah), dan (4) syukur atas rahmat dan karunia Tuhan (Allah). Nilai-nilai religi Islam tersebut merupakan sebagian kearifan lokal Jawa yang harus dilestarikan. Nilai-nilai tersebut dijadikan sebagai pedoman hidup masyarakat Jawa agar memiliki karakter yang kuat dan kepribadian yang utuh.</em></p>

This study aimed to describe Ken language in a reality show "Sarwendah Diary". In sociolinguistic studies, Ken language is included in the variety of languages as a form of various languages used by certain groups of people. This study used a descriptive qualitative research by describing the use of Ken language contained in a reality show. The documentation technique was used for data retrieval by listening, taking notes, and portraying from the realty show video "Sarwendah's Diary". Content analysis technique was used in this study to get the deep meaning of each Ken language used. In addition, the method of triangulation was also applied as to pursue the data validity. Based on the results of the analysis, Ken language was found in some videos entitled (1) Sarwendah Becomes a Scavenger in Medan, (2) the Disguise of Sarwendah and Betrand Peto in Makassar – Sarwendah’s diary, (3) Willingly Lendinga Cell Phone to a Scavenger, This Pecel Seller Gets a Fortune from Sarwendah, (4) Running Out of Costs Sarwendah is Assisted by a Vegetable seller. From the videos, we found several Ken languages that Sarwendah used in her disguise.

The purpose of this reseach was to explain al-Zahrāwī's contribution to medical science. The method used by researchers was descriptive qualitative method with content analysis technique and research library. As a result of the data analysis, the researchers concluded several important points related to al-Zahrāwī's contribution in medical science namely, 1) al-Zahrāwī was a pioneer in the use of several modified surgical instruments from pre-Islamic civilizations, 2) al-Zahrāwī invented several models of internal organ surgery such as the urinary tract and respiratory cavities, and 3) al-Zahrāwī made an important contribution in the field of medicine (pharmaceutical) in postsurgery procedures.

A good quality of translation is known by assessing it. One way to assess translation product is by assessing the naturalness.  This research aims at describing the naturalness of translation in J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince novel into Indonesian version Harry Potter dan Pangeran Berdarah Campuran. This is a descriptive qualitative research. The data were sentences in the original novel and its Indonesian translation. The data were collected using content analysis technique and analyzed using Larson theory of naturalness in translation and supported by other theories. This research does not mean to judge the translator but it is intended to give contribution to the development of translation by analyzing the naturalness of the translation.  The finding showed that there are four levels of naturalness found in the translation of the novel, such as (1) highly natural (171 data or 78.1 %), (2) natural (33 data or 15.1 %), (3) less natural (13 data or 5.9 %), and (4) unnatural (2 data or 0.9 %).

The presented research elucidates the values of Willem Iskandar’s books, Si Bulus Bulus Si Rumbuk Rumbuk, and those functions in commemorating the student’s memory about the character education, religiosity, and nationalism. Descriptive qualitative was employed as research approach. The data were collected through literature reviews and content analysis of Si Bulus Bulus Si Rumbuk Rumbuk. The analysis focuses on the description of values inside of the Willem Iskandar’s poetry and contextual aspect that underlying it. The result of research portrays that the Willem Iskandar’s poetry contains the norms that construct the behavioral pattern of Mandailing society. The proses have a function in shaping the character and evolving the movements against the Dutch colonialism. In the educational dimension, the values inside of Willem Iskandar’s poetry become important to be studied in line with the problem of global capitalism that stimulates identity turmoil in any aspect of human life.

Perubahan pola pikir akibat globalisasi mempengaruhi berbagai aspek kehidupan, salah satunya adalah pemaknaan pepatah Jawa yang sedari dulu digunakan sebagai prinsip hidup masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan makna pepatah Jawa yang mencerminkan kehidupan masyarakat modern di Amerika dalam novel Impian Amerika karya Kuntowijoyo. Penelitian ini diharapkan mampu membuktikan bahwa pepatah Jawa tetap relevan dengan perkembangan zaman dan menyadarkan pembaca bahwa karya sastra bukan hanya hasil imajinasi pengarang tetapi juga merepresentasikan kehidupan sehingga mampu meningkatkan apresiasi pembaca terhadap karya sastra. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan antropologi sastra. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik baca catat. Analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis isi. Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa novel Impian Amerika karya Kuntowijoyo menggambarkan prinsip hidup masyarakat modern yang diambil dari pepatah Jawa. Prinsip hidup tersebut berhubungan dengan usaha masyarakat dalam menciptakan keselarasan antara individu dan Tuhan serta keselarasan antar individuKata Kunci: pepatah Jawa; masyarakat modern; prinsip hidup; globalisasi[Javanese Proverbs as a Principle of Modern Society’s Life in Kuntowijoyo’s Novel Impian Amerika] Changes of mindset because of the changing era affect so many aspects of life. One of them is the interpretation of Javanese proverb which has always been used as a principle of modern society's life. The purpose of this research is to explain and describe the meaning of Javanese proverb which is the principle of modern society’s life in Kuntowijoyo’s Novel Impian Amerika that reflect modern society’s life in America. This research is expected to be able to prove that Javanese proverbs which are an ancestral heritage still relevant to today’s modern conditions and remind the readers that literary works are not only the result of the author's imagination but can also represent life and other positive values, thereby increasing the reader’s appreciation of literary works. This research is a descriptive qualitative with a literary anthropology approach. Data collection technique was note-taking technique. The data were analyzed with content analysis technique. The results of this research prove that Impian Amerika illustrates the principle of modern society's life taken from the Javanese proverb. The principle of life is related to community efforts in creating harmony between individuals and God and individuals as well.
