This research reviews the grammatical errors written by sixty-eight, 3rd-year, Thai, Business English undergraduates when spontaneously writing narrative and descriptive paragraphs. The data was analysed using percentages, mean scores, standard deviation scores, and t-test p-values. The research results show that the students wrote 837 sentences with a mean score of 6.154 sentences per paragraph. 86 were written correctly and 751 were written incorrectly with 2131 grammar errors. The grammatically correct written sentences were all simple sentences. The most frequent errors identified were 227 verb (V) errors (10.652% of identified errors). There is a mean of 31.338 errors per participant (SD 9.957), a mean of 15.669 errors per paragraph, and a mean of 2.837 errors for each incorrectly written sentence. The female participants wrote a mean score of 12.685 sentences, which is 16.84% more than the males who wrote a mean of 10.857 sentences. Three error types by gender showed a high level of significance. These were noun errors with a t-test p-value of 0.012, punctuation errors with a t-test p-value of 0.037, and conjunction errors with a t-test p-value of 0.081. The female students made a significantly higher number of errors in these three error groups.

The research aimed to deeply explore what motivated the students to be teachers and to examine whether or not any differences of motives between male and female students. The research used quantitative approach, using questionnaire adapted from Factors Influencing Teaching Choice (FIT-Choice) scale and employed Likert scale. Primary data of the research was student motivation to be a teacher. The number of student being respondents was 83 students. Data collected was analysed using mean or percentage and independent sample t-test. The research results showed the motives of students being a teacher as follows: make social contribution (mean: 5,66), enhance social equity (mean: 5,54), shape the future of children (mean:5,51), work with children (mean:5,29), prior teaching and learning experience (mean:5,27), intrinsic value (mean:5.16), job security (mean: 4,79), perceived teaching abilities (mean: 4,78), time for family (mean: 4,76), and social influences (mean: 4,39). However, there were five dominant motives spread along the aspects: wanting to help children learn, influencing the next generation, raising the ambitions of underprivileged youth, making social contribution, and being interested in teaching. The independent sample t-test analysis resulted that there is no difference of motivation between male and female students of Elementary Teacher Education, but one motive, time for family, where the P value (0,02) is smaller than 0,05. The research recommends recruiting high school students with high social sense to be student teacher in college of education.

People join professions for different reasons and the same applies to physiotherapists. The aim of the study was to identify the reasons for choosing physiotherapy as a career by Zimbabwean physiotherapy students. The study used a descriptive cross-sectional design where a questionnaire was administered to 60 students. Data were collected on the demographics of the students and also on their rating on the importance of 12 factors for their influence in them choosing physiotherapy as a career.Three factors, which were, “the results I obtained at ‘A’Level” (68%), “job availability”(67%) and “desire to help others”(60%), were rated by more than 60% of the students as factors that had been “very important” in their decision to pursue physiotherapy as a career. Two factors, “I always wanted to be a physiotherapist” and “I worked with or received treatment from a physiotherapist”, were the only factors, which were rated by more than 70% of the students as no important in the students’ decision. Using the paired t-test, no significant statistical differences were found between male and female students, in their rating of importance of all twelve factors, (p-value=0.01).

The study examined the implementation of board games through the students’ achievement in writing skill through descriptive text at SMPN 18 Surabaya. It used the pre-test post-test design in classroom action research model for the students in class VIII-G as subjects selected from sampled classes. T-test was used as the statistical technique for the data analysis. The hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The results showed the data in the tables t-Test: Paired Two Sample for Means (VIII-G) reveal that the obtained t-value was -10.83171521 which were well above the limit of 0.05 of significance. The post-test had a higher mean of 80.39473684. While the pre-test had a mean of 69.36842105. Because p-value (4.97263E-13) was less than the standard significance level of 0.05, researchers can reject the null hypothesis (Ho). Thus, the second hypothesis (Ha) was accepted regarding there is significant effect of the implementation of board games through the students’ achievement in writing skill through descriptive text. It is hereby recommended that English teachers should adapt this model to enhance students’ achievement in other English skills. For students, it is suggested they have to be more paying attention to the model of teaching being applied such as the implementation of board games through the students’ achievement in writing skill through descriptive text so they can be able to explore their skill of writing as well. Other researches, however, should explore to investigate the effect of other games on specific writing genres.
